General F.A.Q.

Q: What the hell is madOS ?
A: madOS, (M.A.D. Team OS), is a ROM based on pure A.O.S.P. with extended capabilities and customizations made by or merge/adapted by M.A.D. Team.

Q: Which recovery should I use for this ROM?
A: Latest M.A.D. TWRP recovery for Oukitel U13
available here

Q: Some translations are missing for my language, can I help?
A: Sure you can, please check our translations repo available here , you can either do a pull request, or if you don't know how to work with git, sent us the XML. Strings for your language ( Check Readme on repo).

Q: What's working ?
A: Check first Post for current status

Q: When I try to install the ROM it says "Error 7 symlink failed", what gives?
A: You need to unmount /system first on twrp

Q: After flashing TWRP says "No OS Installed?"
A: Ignore this message. If the ROM flash indicated as being successful, you can swipe to reboot and the OS should boot.

Q: Do i really need full wipes?
A: Yeah

Q: App "x" doesn't work, why?
A: Probably not compatible with Nougat yet, feedback is welcome

Q: Is the rom rooted?
A: NO, But you can easily root with SuperSU v2.76 onwards.

Q: Does xposed work?
A: As of now, there's no Xposed for N, so no

Q: Does busybox still works on Nougat?
A: yes

Q: AdAway no longer works on Nougat, what can I do?
A: Simply install busybox first, available from the Play Store, and it'll download hosts and work just fine then

Q: Data Connection does not work, why?
A: The ROM, already includes latest APNs, if you still have no active data connection, check your APN settings

Q: Does this build support Vulcan?
A: No.

Q: Does doze work in this build?
A: Yes. You do not have to enable anything; it is active by default.

Q: Does this ROM supports Substratum ?
A: YES, latest rootless substratum is supported on madOS ;)

Q: Does the ROM features disabling SIMs , On Settings SIM Options?
A: YES, we've now merged our own implementation (adapted for N)

Q: when will (feature/issue here) be fixed?
A: NO ETA , please

Porting F.A.Q.

No porting support, no port questions allowed on this thread, and porting PMs will be auto-deleted, porting replies will be reported as well

G.APPS F.A.Q.

  • Download ROM from here: xda DevDB
  • Download Gapps from OpenGapps: http://opengapps.org/, choose arm64, Android 7.1, nano
  • Boot via FT
  • Install ROM
  • Boot via TWRP
  • Install GAPPS
  • Reboot
P.S.: in FB M.A.D. isn't have url for firmware. Only instruction.

on stock is very difficult to focus when shooting photos on wide areas, it focuses easier on macros and close photos. I also have U13 Pro with same chipset, will you also work for that model?

sorry, U15 pro, was a typo.
I still confirm there are some issues with focusing when shooting from medium to far distance, at least in my phone. Photos ends up a bit blurry even when tapping on the screen for focus, I'd want to see other feedbacks to understand if the problem is my model or if it's a software issue.

Oukitel U15S and Blackview R7 are way more interesting. The battery capacity isn't the greatest (2700 mAh/3000 mAh) though.
I know M.A.D. team doesn't take requests per se, but it would be interesting to see them take on one of the big screen phones (6"+):
Doogee Y6 Max, Bluboo Maya Max, Leagoo Shark 1 etc.

Oukitel has sent us the u13 to develop the rom for it.
Feel free to sent those other manufacturers a mail, to get them in touch with us.

I was already in contact with you on Facebook about the Ramos Mos1 Max. But unfortunately, Ramos hasn't returned your inquiry.
I have contacted Bluboo, Doogee and Leagoo asking for the kernel sources.

I have the same distance focus issue on my U13 camera so it's not just your handset. I am still on stock 6.0.
I have read a review of the U13 which states that if you first focus on a foreground object and then point to the U13 camera at the distance shot you want to take and quickly take the shot, the distance picture will be focused correctly. I have tried this and it does mostly work - if you get the technique right.

This fault does seem to be a camera focus software or firmware issue. At least, I hope it's not a hardware problem! Let's hope the M.A.D. developers can improve the camera focus performance on future releases.

Do I understand that you have installed the M.A.D ROM? If so, how is the battery life compared to stock ROM please?

couldn't tell you yet because it's not my daily driver and I don't even have SIM on it, with stock rom I just used it to test it briefly the functions and flashed MAD stright away, so far standby consumption seems very good, now I'ìm running a no-stop video playback and will report you how many hours will it reach.
I've read the battery is a not a real 3000mah but a 2300mah unit, so I don't expect miracles.
A real shame because the phone is GORGEUS and has a build quality able to rival phones with three times the price, but battery is really limitating, could and should have been better.

Yes, I read that about the battery having less capacity than advertised. If true, it's not the sort of behaviour that will build brand loyalty to Oukitel. If the camera functioned correctly and the battery was as advertised, I would be really pleased with my U13 purchase. Instead, I'm trying hard not to regret the purchase.
Just a heads up: I always run the Chinese Backdoor Malware Check app on any Chinese handset I buy (and I buy a few). On the U13 (stock rom) the app reports potential malware backdoors of fota.sysoper and/or adups.fota baked into the rom (can't uninstall without root). Don't know if the app is correctly reporting the facts, but it doesn't look good.

I was wondering if the MAD rom has these malware backdoors installed? Since the MAD rom is based on the stock rom as supplied by Oukitel.
