Who's back? We're back.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.

Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has addressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

We only support Dynamic GApps, reports on force closes with any other packages will be ignored.

What does work?
Everything else that I've tested so far

Encryption Note: If you're currently decrypted, starting with builds after 0729 you need to flash OOS to go back to encrypted state prior to flashing ROM. If you are decrypted some users are reporting that flashing the ROM and SuperSU will allow the device to boot decrypted - try this method at your own risk - the device may wipe the data partition.

If you find a bug - please report with log

Also I know it's not mentioned but Ill ask.

Alert slider working?

Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Yep.

Slider order configurable in CarbonFibers > Buttons > Advanced Buttons

Can also configure priority and silence via QSTile when either of those modes are active

Yea that is my highest priority item to fix right now - will post a new build as soon as it is.

More of a technical question to develop my understanding: Are you (and the other Dev's) all developing your own device trees? Would it make sense to collaborate to get core features working and then diverge into your own projects from a solid base?

There is some of that going on. I'd say that most of the trees (that I've seen) have a similar base (made by mokee and tipsy) with some divergence since then based on rom-specific items.

There are a few TG chats of op5 devs working on a few different things.

I'm happy to say that after many failed attempts, failed builds and hours of frustration - the BT streaming audio issues are fixed in this build.
We are happy to announce that this device will begin receiving official builds from CarbonROM very soon. Working out the last of the bugs (gestures) as well as a few minor items. We (the Carbon team) wanted to ensure that we delivered as quality of a product as possible before bringing into our official lineup. Stay tuned - likely some more test builds coming but we're getting very, very close to a stable release that we'll be happy with.

Love this ROM but is there any news about Oreo?

In fact there - our Oreo release is coming SoonTM

For those that don't want to wait - here is a beta build of CR-6.1 based on Android 8.1
    https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657591492

Like our N builds - this supports encrypted devices only. No-verity should work if you are decrypted but I can't guarantee that. You must have TWRP version 3.2.1-1.

Recommended firmware is OB5. Upcoming builds will properly support OB6 blobs.

If using Magisk - recommend booting and setting up your device, then reboot to recovery to flash Magisk. Using it on the first boot sometimes causes bootloops.

You must clean flash - even if coming from an N-based CR-5.1 build.

Check us out here at: https://carbonrom.org

    Device specific features:
    - Things are broken (haha)
    - Built with Carbonite Kernel, a custom kernel tuned for battery savings

New build: I believe (for real this time) that all audio issues have been fixed.

A limited set of gestures is also included in this build.
For the alert slider the "extra" options of vibrate and ring won't currently work.

Thank you all for the logs and bug reports. We'll be working through those logs and cleaning up some of those remaining issues.
