Many users have been requesting for this feature since many days and I still don't see it being incorporated into any ROM even the new Oreo based ones. Since it requires baking the code deep into the system only the ROM builder can add this feature, so no option for making a flashable zip too. And third party app locks are so resource hungry so they are definitely not an option.

So all we can do is request the devs and see if they find it as a useful feature and add it to their ROMs.

That would be cool. I'll hold off upgrading until some of the bugs are worked out. Hopefully the maintainer will update it more often than he did with nougat.

I tried the oreo build. It is real, and definitely not bad at all. Some things are not exactly perfect (weather needs extra provider to work for example, the slider switches are sometimes buggy, but do work in most cases). Overall, I'd say this is worth it. They did a great job as always, and although this is in early development still, I do not miss my RR nougat at all. All the basics work allright... I tried wifi and 4G, and every app I launched worked as intended.
