We don't include root since it breaks SafetyNet (so some apps won't work). You can flash root zips. Personally recommend magisk

This isn't a rom problem, more likely service outage on your area. I use flounder daily and notification sync (calendar, reminders etc) work as expected.

For anyone else, I resolved it by going to https://developers.google.com/android/images#volantis, downloaded the matching "N9F27C" update, extracted vendor.img, booted into fastboot mode, and flashed using `fastboot flash vendor vendor.img`.
Why would it? I mean I always keep an eye on their trees see if they get anything I'll need but no, in general shouldn't affect one with the other
