Download the appropriate factory image from Google and unzip it. In there you'll find an image-volantis-...zip file. Unzip that as well. In there you'll find a vendor.img file. Boot your tablet into fastboot mode and use fastboot to flash this - "fastboot flash vendor vendor.img".
ok i downloaded the latest image from the google site and did ur procedure, but it keeps saying the same message, did i do something wrong?

Yes, sounds like something went wrong. Are you sure you downloaded the right image file? Did you get any errors while doing the fastboot flash? Without seeing what happened it's a bit hard to tell from here...

Had to flash the previous vendor img to remove the message, but is there any benefit on having the latest vendor img on my device?

Also, should i keep using the default kernel that comes with this rom or is it ElementalX-N9-5.11 better? cause id really like to get the fast charge thingy on, unless u know a way to enable that on this rom without changing the kernel?

My understanding is that the vendor image contains hardware specific stuff. I'm not sure whether that is still being updated for a device of the Nexus 9's age but as it's still getting security updates it's better to be safe than sorry. I daresay the next weekly build will need the latest vendor image so if you're doing those you'll probably need to flash that one again in a few days time.

No idea about this but I'd be interested to hear your experiences if you give it a go.

Just a fyi, flounder isn't truly capable of fast charging, some kernel devs are messing with current values to add a little bit more oomph, but equally could damage some devices (it's a possibility at least).

Folks -

Looking to flash this ROM Slim-flounder-7.1.2.build.1.0-STABLE-20170629-0835 and just trying to make sure I've got everything in order prior to moving forward. I'm on Flounder Wi-Fi coming from DU official 10.6 (Android 6.01). Have already backed everything up with Titanium, so ready to do full wipe etc.

The latest factory image I can find is 7.1.1 (N9F27F, Jul 2017) . Will vendor.img and boot.img from this image work with this rom, even though it's 7.1.2 ? Or am I better flashing a 7.1.1 Slim ROM?

Any help appreciated.

I mean we always recommend latest bl and vendor image. Bl hasn't changed for a while, so make sure. And latest 7.1.1 is fine. Basically same thing anyways. Rom is 7.1.2 but devi e and kernel is 7.1.1

Thanks, got this up and running fine, restoring from Titanium Backup, ATM. For the record, you need Vendor IMG N9F27C (not the latest N9F27F which I originally flashed) with the stable 7.1.2 ROM (I had to DL and reflash, but no biggie.)

Seems snappy so far, Good Work!!

Nevermind. Manual error on my part. Seem like most thing works fine with latest BETA on Nexus 9 LTE. Still testing though.

Running the weekly build of Slim and it is super fast. Even Chrome is responsive! The only issue so far is with Hangouts + Google Voice. If you use Hangouts as the Google Voice SMS client, you keep getting a pop-up asking to select a SIM card. This happens even on a Wifi only N9 which doesn't have a SIM slot! LineageOS seems to have the same issue as well but PureNexus (unofficial) does not. Anyone else seen this or have a solution?

Link to that unofficial PN thread. Maybe I can take a peek in their device folder.

This is driving me crazy too. I use Hangouts for instant messaging but now I get a persistent notification telling me to install an SMS app, which is silly (and impossible) on a wifi-only tablet. I don't want to disable notifications for Hangouts so I'm just putting up with it. It would be great to get rid of this notification.

Here it is - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/development/rom-pure-nexus-substratum-t3536565

Some people say to set a different app as the default SMS app and it will go away, however I've done that and the pop up still occurs in Hangouts.

Thanks!
Well not link provided doesn't help much. OP has no link to his work so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll dig in deeper if I get a chance later
