Hi everyone, I'm new here but not new to using TWRP or upgradings on other mobile phones, but now I'm stuck.
I'm on a small budget and have a Lenovo A7600-H (3G) that is on Kitkat. I have tried to update but no matter what I do in TWRP it sais "WRONG" and that the SD card can't be found. I've tried with and without a SD card but I don't know what I do wrong or what's wrong!

Some questions ;
First - Do I need to open the .zip files when they are on the tablet memory or does the TWRP fix this itself?

Should I place the TWRP, gapps and ROM on the SD card or on the tablet memory? Because, if I do place them on the tablet memory in TWRP it asks me if I want to update from ADB or SD card only!

Where do I start and what newest TWRP and ROM should I chose? I'd be very glad for some assistance?
Thank you!!!

1. They should still be zip files when you flash them from recovery.

2. "update from ADB or SD card" sounds to me like you are actually using the stock recovery, not TWRP. Can you confirm the recovery says that it is TWRP?

First - Sorry for late reply, I did not know I had a reply and I did not get a notification that I had a reply. Hope you still can find time to help me out!

Ok so keep it as zip, got it. Thank you!

And, you are for sure correct, I don't think I am using TWRP as I don't see my model A7600 in the TWRP options in the TWRP app and I did not manage to make it work to install TWRP zip either when going into recovery either. I'm still stuck.

I can't remember what's the best way to install TWRP for this tablet from the top of my head. However, it's probably better to try this rom as the OP suggests. It seems to have a good installation guide from the start.

Thanks, I'm on it right now and will give it a try.

I've put all on the internal USB memory (there's SD and USB memory).
I got into Recovery mode it sais "No command". I press Power and it goes into the choises ;
Reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partitition
backup user data
restor user data

I don't get access to the files unless I put them on a SD card and last time it didn't work when I tried to flash from the SD card.
Would it work better this time with this new SP-Flashable TWRP?

I've switched places now to SD card but I ran out of battery so need another 30 min, then I'll give it a final try. ( OT. This old plate belonged to my mother who's passed so that's why it's important to me to make it work).

As far as I understand, they guide tells you to use the SP flash tool. Which guide are you following again?

I follow this and have downloaded what's been suggested.

I did manage to get the installation process to start of Lineage and it finished but at the end it just went back to Stock. I can not get the SP TWRP to start anything.

Can you verify that you used the twrp from the link in step 2, and did the wipes in step 3? If so, I think it would be best to continue the discussion on that rom's thread.

Nope, I could not wipe /Dalvik as I never had that choice to do so as I can't get into TWRP. It's like a catch 22 and I can't find the answers in how to do this as what's use to be a easy process it's not with this model. I've done many roots and updates like this with mobile phones and it was easy and no big deal. This is a dead end no matter what I try.
Ok I will see what thread to turn to as it has worked for others. Thanks for your help though!

Yeah, you can't install the rom before you get the correct TWRP installed. This is not a device with good support, but we're fortunate to have these couple roms that run quite decently. I've only installed these roms once each, and it wasn't yesterday so I don't remember if I had some problems. But I got there in the end with the instructions.

Thanks alot! After 3 years I finally installed XOSP on my A7600-H tablet last week :D So far it's working great and feel like I got a new tablet  I tried almost every rom there but XOSP is very smooth in performance and battery consumption and YT Vanced works well which stopped working on my stock 4.4.2.
Respect!

Hello to all you Lenovo A7600-F owners! I've Got yet another Android Nougat ROM ported to the Lenovo A7600-F Tablet! This one is very stable, smooth, and has the least bugs of any ROM i've ported to the A7600-F. :D

Android Version: AIM OS v2.5 (Android 7.1.2)
Security Patch Version: November 6, 2017
    Kernel Version: 3.4.67 (kk)

First of all special thanks to:
    -The AIM OS ROM team
-S M Nahid Emon (From romclaims.com for the portable MT6582 ROM)

    Working:
    -Wifi, Bluetooth, Root, Storage, etc...
    -Camera (Pictures, Video)
    -Youtube (Up to 720p30)
-Substratum Themes (Latest OMS Themes work great! Still smooth!)
    -FM Radio
    -GPS!

    Not Working (kind-of):
-Camera video recording is laggy on default settings.
-FM Radio in loudspeaker mode (It only works in headphone mode)
-Let me know if you find something else.

    Installation:
-Step 1: Don't download this ROM, I recommend you try this ROM instead. It is also ported by me but has far fewer bugs and has newer patches. Over a year later, I still see people installing this ROM ): Do yourself a favor and try out the newer one.

    -Download Rom
    -Download Gapps
    -Backup your current ROM
    -Flash ROM using TWRP 3.x.x.x
    -Flash Gapps
    -Reboot

    Notes:
-To get brightness to change, turn off Adaptive brightness.
-Substratum seems to work best with root enabled (in Developer Settings) and after a reboot.

    Downloads:
    -TWRP Download
    -ROM Download
-GAPPS Download (Choose ARM - 7.1 - pico or nano)

    Emulated Storage Fix:
-For those of you who have wiped/formatted "Internal Storage" with my TWRP recovery, you will likely not have proper access to internal storage in this ROM. If you have internal storage issues try to flash this boot image to /boot with TWRP's builtin .img flash utility. Download storage fix image here.

    Kernel Source: here

    Changes:
    -Revision 2:
Fix Storage issue (For people with physical internal storage).
Update Launcher to new Pixel Launcher 8.1 4429924
Removed unnecessary service startups related to SIM/Modem

[Guide][7.1.2][Install AIM OS v2.5 on Lenovo A7600-F [MT6582] without messing up inte

At first I thought I should make a new thread here in the forum, but then I thought, I rather stay in this thread. Thats why the text still looks like a new forum thread, but I thought I will just leave it this way.
After two days of testing and flashing and going back and forth, I finally have my good old Lenovo A7600-F running perfectly on AIM OS 2.5 / Android 7.1.
I also had the problem of the messed up internal storage, and thus a pretty useless Tablet. And no solution to be found. But I finally did it.
    Thank you all here.

[Guide][7.1.2][Install AIM OS v2.5 on Lenovo A7600-F [MT6582] without messing up internal storage

    First:
The original thread for the AIM OS can be found here.
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-aim-os-v2-5-lenovo-a7600-f-t3713308
    Thank you so much man!

    Second:
I have taken a lot of knowledge and parts of this guide from thel2dab`s CM13 Thread.
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/lenovo-a7600f-original-cm13-port-t3515459
    Thank you man!

    Third:
    - I hope you understand that all of these operations can and will render your device unusable, if you don't know what you are doing. So backup all your data beforehand, and be aware that anything can happen anytime.

    - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT IS CAUSED BY ANYTHING STATED IN THIS GUIDE.

    - It is REALLY important to use EXACTLY the files stated here in my guide (NOT ALL THE FILES FROM THE OP ARE WORKING FOR MY GUIDE!) and closely follow every step given. Especially when told to remove or insert SD Card, i really mean it, so do it please.

    Preparations:

You need the following files, it is best to place them all on a suitable micro SD.

    Download the ROM Here:
Android Version: AIM OS v2.5 (Android 7.1.2)
Security Patch Version: November 6, 2017
    Kernel Version: 3.4.67 (kk)
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EjVkf-_w5_N46uMj-5y1bvHDs0pmQPDA/view?usp=sharing
    Thanks to Sabership!
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-aim-os-v2-5-lenovo-a7600-f-t3713308

    Download TWRP here:
    A7600F TWRP 3.0.2.0
    https://goo.gl/77toHX
Extract the recovery.img to your SD card, as flashify can't handle compressed archives!
As a short remark: it is very important to use 3.0.2, as the TWRP v3.1.0 from OP always rendered my internal storage completely useless, which was not fixable. This TWRP comes from thel2dab`s CM13 Thread, see link on top).

Download the Google basic Apps here:
    (Choose ARM - 7.1 - nano)
    http://opengapps.org/

Download "Emulated Storage fix" boot-image by SaberShip here:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DMcMmDXlXlQHkZlxFrMzoQoLmoAHYWAe/view

    Download Kingroot App
    http://beste-apps.chip.de/android/app/kingroot-apk-android-app,cxo.94586052/
(apk, for obvious reasons not to be found on Google Play)

    Download Flashify App
    https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/chris...-release/flashify-1-9-2-android-apk-download/
(apk, just for convenience later, you can also download it from google play)

    Preparations 2:

You need to have stock Lenovo android 4.2.2. or 4.4.2 installed.
If you have previously messed up your internal storage (=not showing up in android at all), there is no way to restore it, except flashing said stock Lenovo android 4.2.2. or 4.4.2 .
    (Instructions and files: http://www.thecicc.com/video/Nt3RQgmQeRY.html)

So thats the basic we will need here. Let's begin.

    1. Rooting The A7600F

From 4.4.2 and 4.2.2 this can be done easily with the KingRoot app.
Simply download Kingroot App wherever available, let it run, inside look for the menu button to make it do the root process. This will take some minutes! (There are other methods to gain root access, but this is by far the easiest, so I will not go into further details here)

    2. Installation Of Custom Recovery

You must have a custom recovery installed. I have only tried this ROM with TWRP. This is the version I have been using: A7600F TWRP 3.0.2.0 by thel2dab

2.1 Install Flashify App on your Tablet, start it and flash the TWRP 3.0.2 recovery.img as recovery image.

    2.2 Shutdown the tablet.

    3. Installation Of Custom OS / Rom

3.1 Press and hold "Volume up" button and simultaneously press and hold Power-button, wait for the small menu to appear. With "volume up" key, choose "recovery", with "volume down" key confirm. Now the Tablet boots into the TRWP recovery System.

3.2 Now VERY important: TWRP will ask you, if it should leave the internal storage locked or if it should open it up.
----- MOST IMPORTANT STEP: TELL TWRP TO LEAVE THE STORAGE LOCKED AND UNTOUCHED!

3.3 Then go to wipe. Go to advanced wipe. Select and wipe only the following and nothing else:

    Dalvik/ART Cache
    Data
    Cache
    System

3.4 Return to the main menu. Go to install.
Select the ZIP file: AIM OS v2.5 N_7.1.2 A7600F Revision 2
    Add additional zip open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20180115.zip
Install the whole load. This can take a while.

3.5 Once finished hit wipe Dalvik/Cache

3.6 REMOVE YOUR SD CARD FROM THE TABLET

3.7 Hit reboot. Hopefully it boots past the original Lenovo screen. When you see the swirling colourful dots, the system is booting fine. The 1st boot can take a up to 10 minutes!

Now despite what all the images and people say, your internal storage (as the Android sees it) will appear to be messed up unusable at this point (meaning no internal storage showing up in android, and file manager crashing right upon starting it).
Well, dont fear, the storage is fully intact, but the OS can't handle it this way, as Lenovo handles the internal storage a bit differently than most other manufacturers.
So: just one more step and we are done, we only need to install the fix for that, so the OS can handle an emulated internal storage.

    3.8 Shutdown the tablet.

    4. Install Emulated Internal Storage Fix:

4.1 INSERT YOUR SD CARD AGAIN (for it should contain the Emulated storage fix boot_emulated_storage.img by Sabership)

4.2 Boot into recovery mode again.
[[Press and hold "Volume up" button and simultaneously press and hold Power-button, wait for the small menu to appear. With "volume up" key, choose "recovery", confirm with "volume down" key. Now the Tablet boots into the TRWP recovery System.]]

4.3 Go to install, on the bottom right button change to "install image" and choose boot_emulated_storage.img to flash to "boot" sector.
Should only take a few seconds.

4.4 When done, REMOVE YOUR SD-CARD AGAIN FROM THE TABLET.

    4.5 Reboot the tablet.

4.6 Open file manager to check if everything worked out fine.

If it opens up and shows something like "Lenovo A7600-F" with about 9,3 GB space left, everything went perfect, and your "brand new" Lenovo Tab is good to go with its flashy new Android 7.1 system.
If no internal storage is shown, or if the file manager immediately crashes upon opening, something went wrong, and there is really nothing that can fix this. I tried for hours. Then you need to start from the very beginning by flashing stock Lenovo Android using SP Tools.
    2
Ok cool! Thanks for that. I'll give it a try.
Anyway, given that you're trying to build RR as well... may I ask you where to find this needed stuff? I mean, I'll download the sources from Lenovo (which are for KitKat, according to their website); but you're not using these sources for RR and Nougat, right? Where can I find the sources you are using? Ahh or you may be using compiled kernel and device blobs, right?
Sorry for the off-topic; if further conversation is needed, I'll write you a PM instead.

    Thanks again :)

Nope! Im just porting Roms right now. Which is to say, i'm taking Roms already built for other devices with the same SOC (MT6582 in this case) and doing whats needed to convert them to run well on the A7600-F.
    2
i didn't find anything useful there.. Can you please give me exact link for updated rom for A7600-H?
