Thank you DarkExistence, you did it again - your
lineage-14.1-20220107-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi.zip is the best!

By the best I mean SELinux enforcing, encryption working, fingerprint supported, recent security patches applied, and everything is quite stable. I've tested the other ROMs for T800, and none of them have all these things in place together. A bonus is a correctly functioning Work profile, which enables use of Insular (a non-root sandbox for compromised apps with trackers).

Firstly, delighted that all of you are still using these builds successfully, they are continuing to be built automatically on our Jenkins server

I haven't pushed any updates in months (year?) however and will not be either, the builds will continue for as long as they will though, but if they break I won't be pushing fixes unfortunately. Thanks for all the community love over the last while, but my chagallwifi has been placed in my bedside locker where it will stay idle for the time being, unless i get the urge to work on it again
Just to make it perfectly clear to anyone here, this ROM is no longer in active development, and no longer functions correctly, or receives security updates. Your best option now is to move to this ROM here, and use Free Swapper for Root after you have installed magisk and gapps - it is not as fast, and some things do not work, but there's not anything else, unfortunately. As DarkExistence says here, all builds are just autogen, and at this point are starting to break. I am sorry to see the end of this ROM, but maybe, someday, it will return.

Recently tried this new room Cessnaboon mentioned in this post. It actually works surprisingly well aside from some video playback issues on certain apps. I'm guessing it is probably a codex issue and not using the GPU.

So, reverted back to this Rom, and currently, this Rom is still the primary choice for SM-T800 if you want a good combination of stability, functionality, and performance.

What would be ideal for these tablets is an Oreo/pie build of AOSP, but I just don't think it'll happen. I've tried and failed many times at this point, but there is a chance. Completely agree.

I would say any update would do, as long as the video rendering is correct and security in place (SELinux and Encryption).

This ROM is the last for SM-T800 supporting all these features. However, it's security patch dates back to 5 June 2021, checked with both
lineage-14.1-20220208-NIGHTLY-chagallwifi
lineage-14.1-20220107-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi
It looks like the recent nightly versions are all the same while being automatically generated without any human input. I don't see any difference between these versions, running lineage-14.1-20220107-UNOFFICIAL-chagallwifi in a false hope that it is somewhat more "final" than the other one.

Broken video in LOS-17.1 ROMs in the other threads is a show stopper, while the security features work in LOS-17.1 by minashorky, who has been gone since January 2022...

I just reduced the screen resolution to 1920x1200 in order to make the screen quicker and burn less energy. Everything still works, looks good, yet to see any significant improvement. I also tried 1280x800 and 160, full-screen videos were good, but the fonts became a bit washed out.

adb shell wm size 1920x1200
adb shell wm density 240
adb shell reboot

The next day... I am back to the factory 2560x1600 288dpi, because it is better for reading PDF articles with fine fonts, while I could not register any performance improvement in GUI or video playback at the lower resolutions.

The resolution trick used in the Android 10 thread are just a placebo. It can make the GUI faster when HW acceleration is outright not working. There's no reason to expect it to work in this ROM where HW acceleration is functioning correctly.

Sorry for being late to the party, but I need help!

I just installed this ROM on my SM-T800 and it says that it is not rooted but it was before I flashed.

What should I do? Reflash ChainFire auto root? Apparently there's a LineageOS package for rooting but I can't find it...

Thank you :)

Hello,
Just use Magisk to root the ROM. It works perfectly !

The Deathly version has a kernel that allows numerous tweaks, add-ons etc. I have it installed only because I could tune the battery charging rate. Without the ability to do this the vanilla version charges the battery at a rate far below the Samsung original spec, so much so that charging during tablet use barely keeps up at all.
Some say the Deathly version isn't as stable, prone to crashes etc. I do experience this occasionally but not daily and certainly not enough to be annoying.
Could you explain how you setup that particular tweak?

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1.2 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>

    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
     *
     */

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

First time flashing LineageOS 14.1 on your device, or coming from another ROM?
    Download the zip(s)
    Install a compatible Recovery
Perform a nandroid backup of your current ROM (Optional)
    Wipe data/factory reset
    Flash LineageOS
Install the Google Apps addon package (Optional)
    Reboot

Make sure you have the Marshmallow bootloader. Guide is in the comments below.

There will be a new build every week, every Monday.
The builds will no longer be personally tested by me before being uploaded (but everything will probably be fine)
Change logs will no longer be posted within every new build, but instead when the changes are uploaded to GitHub. I will try though to post changes for major bugs or fixes as they are released.
Some builds might feature only minor changes, ie. only updating the LineageOS source

For OTA updates to flash correctly:
Update your TWRP to 3.1.0-1 (USE THE 2017-05-04 BUILD OR LATER. DO NOT USE A BUILD FROM BEFORE THIS DATE)
You can get Official TWRP 3.1.0-1 for chagallwifi from this link!

How to update to Marshmallow bootloader (required for 20170324 and later builds)
Updating the bootloader is very quick and doesn't wipe data or repartition the device.
If the last Samsung ROM you had was 6.0.1 Touchwiz, you already have Marshmallow bootloader and don't need to follow these steps. (If you were on MM, and it still won't boot, follow the steps below)

    1. Download the bootloader-only Odin package: T800XXU1CPK2.tar.md5
This has the latest Marshmallow bootloader (December 2016)
    https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767146298
    2. Download Odin 3.11
You can skip this if you already have a working Odin
    https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298937183
    3. Shutdown your tablet and start it up by holding Power+Home+Volume Down to enter Download Mode. Volume Down is the one right next to the power button. Really shut it down and use this key combination, if you use Advanced Restart, or go into download mode via TWRP the bootloader won't change.
    4. Make sure the screen of your tablet has a green android symbol with a "Downloading..." text
    5. Open Odin3_v3.11.1.exe and follow the instructions in this image:
    http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F2LpBdo2.png

If anything is missing, you WON'T flash bootloader successfully.
    6. Click Start. Your tablet will automatically reboot back into your ROM.
    7. To verify you have the new bootloader, you can run in terminal emulator "getprop ro.bootloader". It should say T800XXU1CPK2.

    Thanks @ZakooZ for the post!

Replacement charging port installed and we have a booting tablet again! Woo! Work can begin again, though I do have to learn my way around it again with exynos, it's different then Snapdragon.

Really appreciate your patience and understanding with how I was busy throughout the year etc! Thanks a mill!
