@NZedPred thanks a lot for updates ...!!! i have sent u a DM can you please check

i have re-locked my bootloader and currently on stock 8.1 what are chances of working finger print if i use this ROM ?? because previously when i tried 7.1.2 ( twrp latest and was using PE 8.1 and 9 ) but finger print didnt worked at all

Need your advise ? plz
If you want to use this rom from stock Oreo, other than unlocking, you have to do a clean install of stock nougat first. Just use the latest version from here that have the aroma installer - they are the safest and will preserve your IMEI:

Install and boot once to make sure everything is working, then do a clean flash of this rom.

how about if i unlock the bootloader and twrp this rom ? will the finger print work? because lately, i tried so many nougat roms the finger print unlock was broken . although rest of all options worked fine .

No it won't work. You need the nougat blobs for the fingerprint to work properly, hence the step to flash stock nougat. This is true for all nougat and oreo custom roms.

thanks for your guidance what if i use the RDS lite to flash the nougat stock ? over oreo would it be a good idea or it wont work
any ways i am trying for last 3 days to make my moto g5 to be detected in RDS lite but it seems not working ... :( ( it seems that the only way left would be the one you mentioned in your last few replies... )

thanks for the clarification ..!!

No idea what RDS lite is, and my advice would be to stick with the known way of doing things which is what I've explained above.

None of the O ROMs ever updated to the new blobs?

That's surprising. Had development moved to P by the time Motorola released?

I didn't follow potter close and just recently got one, so playing catch up.
It took forever to get stock Oreo, so yeah P was practically out when it was available. I don't believe any Oreo custom roms ever updated the blobs.

FYI - I installed gothicVI's January build and got errors while Magisk patching ('device or resoure busy' on the system partition). Phone got stuck in boot splash screen afterwards.
Reverted to NZedPred's December build made it work again.

Not sure if it's Magisk or the build.

Anyone still using this ROM? I'm messing around with building Android. If I can figure out how to do it, I might be up to maintain this for those who still use it.

EDIT: Looks like Gothic has it handled. I'll still do it for my own educational purposes though. :p

Has anyone tried the newer @gothicVI builds? Are they safe to dirty flash over @NZedPred builds from last year, or is the December build the best for now? I know I should probably finally clean flash one of the newer ROMs, but I don't really want to make the time to back up and restore my phone. It's on its last legs as it is, and I also don't want to loose any more battery life than I already have. Any feedback would be appreciated, including some new ROMs to consider, if that's really for the best. Thank you kindly!

I'm still using this December build.
I also tried to get a build working, but haven't succeeded due to time constraints.
I don't think that creating a build makes sense since 7.1 has dropped out of Google's security support in Dec 2019...

I'm looking for an upgrade of 7.1.2 , too. Is there a discussion/thread or repository of gothicVI on xda-devel or github? Is it necessary to flash Stock Oreo to get latest RIL/modem drivers?

I flashed gothicVI's unofficial 17.1 build with the May security patch yesterday, and so far so good! I'm using the 2GB variant of the Moto G5 Plus, and so far i haven't found a custom ROM as stable as this one for the 2GB RAm variant. I've flashed Havoc-OS, ArrowOS, PixelExperience, EvolutionX...and while each had its perks, I also found that they weren't very kind on my variant. Of course, there's less customisation available here, but that's a weak argument since what good does a customisable ROM offer if it isn't stable? Anyway, I'll see how it continues to function but i feel I have finally found my custom ROM.

The gothic is still supporting lineageOs 14., he is releasing a compiation every month.
