Keeps crashing that bloody wizard. Wasted hours on this. Did all steps by the book, even installed the rom without gapps. Keeps crashing and crashing, this version is garbage and a time waster, I will search for something else that actually works.

Try this:

1. At the first screen of the setup wizard, choose your language and tap Let's go
2. When asked if you want to setup as new or restore from backup, select new and the wizard will crash
3. Tap "Close application" and immediately after tapping it, quickly start swiping down to invoke the quick settings/notification panel
4. Tap the blue face on the top of the quick settings panel and tap on guest

After switching to guest, the setup wizard should work perfectly

To help also. I solved issue by swiping down. Then I went to network settings and connected to my network. After that the wizard ran fine and finished setup perfectly.

Anyway, it's always the right move to backup first. Your version is 6 months ago. I think you may try a dirty flash first.
Try flashing ROM+gapps+Supersu without factory reset. Just wipe dalvik and cache afterwards.
If it doesn't work,
Flash ROM, reboot and setup wifi.
Then Flash Gapps+SuperSU

The latest CR-5.1 Android-7.1.2_r24 (NJH47D) is out
Cheers! ;)

OTA

@daniel_hk, does it mean OTA updates are not supported? you wont be able to push updates to the device and user has to manually flash the ROM with every new update?

i'm stuck on the C logo after rooting again.
I flashed the rom yesterday. worked fine. Wanted to try some other rom today.
I deleted all the rom and superuser files from the nexus.
Root checker app said it's not rooted so i went to root it again.
Root process went fine but after rebooting it got stuck on the C logo.
I can go into recovery, but i deleted all the files before. Tried erasing cache and data, didn't help.
What to do ?

edit:
pushed the rom with adb, erased all data/reset/cache, installed it, pushed pico gaaps, installed.
now i get stuck on setup screen with "setup wizard keeps stopping" ?

edit2:
managed to get pass the setup wizard with turning it landscape mode and
Tap the top-left corner of the screen.
Tap the top-right corner of the screen.
Tap the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Tap the bottom-left corner of the screen.
and keep doing it until it got through.

I've been out of the nexus 7 world for a while now and I was wondering if parrot mod is still something useful to flash on this rom or if it's already optimized. Didn't like the lag I had with my last rom and this is my last hope before going back to KitKat.
Thanks

i have installed the lastest version CR-5.1 Android-7.1.2_r24 (NJH47D) and all is working nice.

I just have a few questions, the kernel supports these devices ?

USB DVB-T & RTL-SDR Realtek RTL2832U & R820T DVB-T Tuner Receiver

Easycap USB 2.0 TV Video Audio VHS to DVD HDD Converter Capture Card Adapter

i saw in your github ( android_kernel_asus_tegra ) (if this rom is using that kernel) says that supports Car Install support but i dont know if support devices that i want to know.

PD: i cant post any links because im new in xda.

Edit:

i foget to say i have to little problems
1st PerformanceControl is crashing for any reason.
2nd i think there is a problem with the path of the media files, yesterday i wanted to play some mp3 but the error was " corrupt or missing" after a few tries i could play them, right now i want to upload the screens from the app but the same error.

Hi,

Here's my feedback.

I've completely wiped my grouper device to try out your latest version.

Pros :
- Much more responsible than previous versions
- Camera works

Cons :
- The "Performance Controll" App bundled in the ROM is still unusable on my device. I had to disable it to make my tablet usable.
This app makes the tablet run slow until the app crashes and the whole issue starts over and over...
- The Netflix devs are messing around with people that have either unlocked bootloader or rooted devices.... There's a whole thread on Reddit about this.
Even some genuine OEM ROMs are affected

Great work indeed, which is much appreciated. :)

Nice setup with buttons on nav bar. MInd sharing how you did it? if i try adding multiple buttons, i almost ruin the alignment thus buttons either dont show or mess up the navbar buttons. i am using custom icons for media buttons. adding just two buttons work fine.

Daniel, is there a way to get Play Store installs to show on desk top?

I appreciate your Carbon ROM build and use it on my 2012 NEXUS. I would appreciate any tips you could offer to bring more installed apps icons to desktop.

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project.
Click the logo to visit the official site and Features

After trying a number of custom ROMs, I decided to bring up the CarbonROM again. Almost everything is working now. The essential feaures and the CarbonFibers are also implemented. You might not like the navigation bar's arrangement but there is the "System UI tuner" to customize the look. The official features page is old and there are still more for us to explore.
It's for now the best N for my daily use. I had built Carbon before and it's good to be Carbonized again. Cheers :D
