Updated to a newer version.
normally i re-flash Gapps after rom, even on an update/dirty flash. don't know if you're supposed to/have to, but better safe than sorry.
Everything went to plan BUT i noticed 'googleTTS' was listed in the log, then realised i hadn't copied the grouper config to device before flashing, just the zip.

basically i need to know what affect running Gapps (pico) will have without using the config?
i was under the impression Gapps would fail (due to not enough space), if ran without the config, but it installed fine.

from what i can tell from reading the config and comparing to TWRP log, the only difference seem to be that GoogleTTS is added. are there any other difference's??
(play service etc is all working fine)(and i don't use any text-to-speech things so that's not an issue)

just curious: will leaving it like this make any difference? or was the only reason for the config to get around the lack of space error?

p.s. i'm using the official-unofficial version from OP, not the 'official'/signed one posted a few messages ago.

EDIT: p.p.s I've reflashed rom(dirty) and then Gapps(with config) so everything should be fine regardless, but still curious if there are any other differences.
The config is purely there to ensure gapps fits on the device, but obviously it doesn't really matter.
Just beware that in my experience the tablet is a lot faster without using gapps (I use yalpstore to install all Google play apps), although the transition is hard at first.

I've been away from XDA forums.
Thanks Hackintosh5 for reminding me about quoting the op. My bad!
I flashed the latest version of this rom along with the latest opengapps pico. First boot always takes a while but had no problems with storage, or logging into Google. Still have plenty of memory space. It all runs nice & smooth. Very well done guys!

Need some help. Screen goes black after the tablet loads up (Due to me setting the brightness to zero).
I was able to set the "brightness" to 255 that's located in "/sys/devices/platform/pwm-backlight/backlight/pwm-backlight" but that doesn't fix the issue. I assume it may be because I still had auto brightness turned on?
Is there any way to set the auto brightness to off with ADB?
Thanks.
Edit: Being that I JUST installed the ROM today, I decided to just reflash it. I'm still curious if there's a solution, though.

Yeah, I wasn't rooted at the time, so there was no way I could have done that.
Being the curious person I am, I tried to compare a /sys folder with auto brightness on and /sys folder with auto brightness off, but of course nothing I do makes it possible to transfer said folders to my computer. Copying /sys to /sdcard gets stuck in TWRP and that copied folder can't be transferred to Windows (Either through Explorer or using ADB pull). And ADB pull doesn't pull anything from the default /sys folder.

Besides, I now have the go to command to get me out of this predicament if there's ever the off chance I turn auto brightness on AND turn it all the way to zero (actually -1 ;))! Thanks!

Allright, so i flashed linageageOS 41, and installed openGapps pico and have playstore running, everything looks ok.

My problem is that i have 14.7Gb used of 14.56Gb.

I can install anything.

Any have an idea how and what i delete so i can free up some space?

Thanks in forward

Just take a flashlight and point it on a sensor.

Do a clean flash, wipe system and data first, because that can't be right , especially considering how small the system partition is on our devices.
If not install magsik and get the systemless gapps with that

Upgrading tablet

Hello,

I'm running Lineageos 14.1 on my Nexus 7 2012 Grouper. The file name is:

lineage-14.1-20171122_224807-UNOFFICIAL-aaopt-grouper.zip

I have downloaded:

lineage-14.1-20180625-UNOFFICIAL-grouper.zip

first of all is this the right file? Second, can I upgrade the tablet without having to backup and reformat and if so how?
Thanks.
Dave.

Well i recently flashed this file ...

aaopt build

I am assuming from your currently installed ROM which is ... lineage-14.1-20171122_224807-UNOFFICIAL-aaopt-grouper.zip .... you already have a twrp recovery up and running ... if so read thru ...

I am however unclear about your reasons behind a no backup ... is it that you lack space on your device ... the only risk in the event your flashing fails ... you may have to start afresh by flashing the devices official stock ROM ... if its a matter of space ... it would make sense to clear space for a backup ... once you successfully boot into this new ROM then you could delete the twrp backup and restore your data which you had moved to make space.

I however don't see why you would like to avoid formatting ... if the reason is, you'd want to retain all the apps from your current ROM to the new one then, you can do it by formatting only the /system partition ... leave the /data as it is without formatting it ... and you'll have all your apps from this ROM to the next build ... please be sure to flash the gapps(pico) zip file from the OP after the flashing of the latest ROM.

I just did it recently and things are fine ... all apps have been retained in the newly flashed build.

PS : This ROM file ... lineage-14.1-20180625-UNOFFICIAL-grouper.zip ... seems to be Charles attempt to build a ROM .... so i guess Charles will be able to answer your concern with regard to his ROM.

If that file is from me, then you will need to use the migration script before flashing if you don't want to wipe data. If it's from aaopt (on his androidfilehost), then in theory you should be fine not wiping or backing up, but I would recommend backing up and wiping system, cache, dalvik.

On a side note, I accidentally formatted my building drive, so new builds on my broken ota server will be signed with test keys, so for those on one of my old builds, you'll have to use the script with the unofficial argument, and for those on aaopt's, the transitioning between mine and his can be dirty wipes without and script work. My ota server is at https://ota.charles-iv.uk although the ota update don't work I think. It should build every Monday.

Same here. Just dirty flashed the latest build from aaopt (20180708) over an older build and everything went fine. Might be a "placebo" effect but the latest build seems smoother and more responsive. Good stuff!
Update . When i ty to unlock the screen it reboots and i need like 30 secs to boot again . Ill test day or two more to see if there is a chance to fix this .

Something I've just noticed after a few days of use of the latest test build: the device behaves just fine when it's offline (airplane mode) but when the wifi has a connection, the screen seems to randomly lock, and you never know how long it will take before you can unlock it again. Not bootlooping, just screen locks. Seems fine when I turn off wifi again.

Just occurred to me I should produce a logcat... Will try to do that soon.
