Gentlemen, I wonder if you two ( @threader and @Eric_Lev ) can have a Zoom call eh? DM and find a time slot perhaps.

Anyhow, initially the kernel is done, I'm still testing and planning to pick up more changes, I want to recompile Linaro gcc with --with-isl so I can use the optimizations I had to leave out, but for now, It's compiled with Linaro gcc 7.5, Kernel-3.10.108 and initially seems to work as before.

There were no differences between the LineageOS official kernel before the merge to 3.10.108 besides missing the brightness level adjustment for sumire.

Edit 12/05/20: Things are improving, somewhat caught up with the cm-14.1 branch of https://github.com/LineageOS/android_kernel_qcom_msm8994 . Flashable zip is up.

Edit 14/05/20: Pretty much all caught up with android_kernel_qcom_msm8994, found various un-applied patches related to networking, sifted trough all drivers and brought those up to (2017) scratch.

My huge thanks for those who keep bringing updates to Los and making the Z5 stick with the latest security patch and still rocking

I have a question about kernel, which kernel do you recommend for this ROM? Is it enough with the kernel of fw STOCK or is there any more appropriate and better for Los? I currently have the Patched Kernel from sceryavuz for my 1.54 fw but it seems more appropriate for fw than Los since it has drm-fix, sony-ric, dm-verity. things in Los you don't need to have.
Greeting and thanks in advance

Building android properly the kernel cannot deviate too much with regards to what you can run on the rom.

Understand, it's okay to leave as is, right?

I would recommend you use the kernel distributed with the rom or a derivative there of. Amongst others the libc library, bionic, is supposed to use the headers from the kernel during rom compile, if these headers do not correspond well you run into trouble quickly, you can jump hoops trough making changes, but in the end a clean rom will cause less headache.

I'm currently with a current break, trying to merge https://github.com/ACherepkov1989/android_kernel_sony_msm8994_kitakami (kindly it stopped booting with no logs at the Sony logo, so I slammed the laptop lid and headed to the nearest sun filled spot and stayed). He provided a kernel that would work on some precompiled roms. At some point he almost had 3.18 and 4.4 running as far as I could tell, that has been a goal of mine as well so his work intrigues me. Also this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/general/adreno-430-driver-adreno-430-graphics-t3551846) is interesting. But back to the point, due to inconsistencies between the headers (when I slammed the laptop lid and left) even a stable kernel failed to boot in my builds.

Let's say, a rom with a 3.10.84 kernel will not boot or have issues or at least complain with a 3.10.104 kernel.

Does this support VoLTE and VoWifi on all networks, also any guides that cover moving from stock and backing up the DRM keys?

Great job on this rom.
I've installed this rom on my dad's Z5 (dsds), everything works just fine except the sensors which non of them works (like rotation or light sensor) and I don't know if I did something wrong or it's a known issue. I say that because when I installed the rom there wasn't any launcher, a camera nor a keyboard included, I installed them mydself. That is why I believe I missed flashing something. this is what I did:
1- Flashed the latest stock firmware (32.4.A.1.54).
2- Flashed TWRP
3- Flashed lineage-14.1-20201006-UNOFFICIAL-sumire.zip
4- Flashed Pico Gapps.
5- Flashed Magisk.
Any help would be appreciated.

Update:
I extracted the rom and all the app I said wasn't included is present in the rom, so I believe something went wrong during flashing procedure. or maybe I need to use a different version of Gapps.
Update 2: I flashed the rom again with nano Gapps and the apps that I said earlier are now present but no luck with the sensors.
Update 3: Problem solved.

    LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
    */

    NOTE
    Should you ever face any issues, provide logs (use Google to find out how to gather those). I also need to know what build you're on - hence, you should mention the build number (or at least a date).
    Hint: "It doesn't work" is not a bug report and posts like this will be ignored (and eventually removed). To keep the thread clean, try to use DevDB for real bug reports

    KNOWN ISSUEs
    • None

    INFO
    This ROM does not use the device trees/kernel from sonyxperiadev. The device tree was made from scratch, and the stock kernel (based off 32.2.A.5.11) has been used.

    My builds are back!

    You can now get them from my download server, BasketBuild or my build server.

    I think the difference is CAF - this ROM is built on it, CarbonRom is finding it difficult.
    If it comes to a choice, I 'll go for a CAF based ROM as the future, but it needs a team to develop not a singleton.

    Thats why I am currently spending all my effort into getting Carbon to get full CAF support going on in order to provide support for the stock Z5 trees and other devices :)

    I promised to keep the Z5 development ongoing, and, unlike others that sold their device to buy a new one I didn't, in order to keep that promise.
    All I expect for that is at least some understanding for what I am doing and how I am doing it.

    Bringing up CAF support for a ROM is a ton of work though, which is why I barely have time for anything else. I am not sure if I am close to being done or far far away either. The ROM is booting, everything seems to work, exept for RIL and camera. Those two things however turn out to be a nightmare. I spend the whole weekend trying to fix the RIL without any kind of success, sadly.

    I'll get it fixed eventually though, there has to be a way to fix it. I just need to find it.

    P.S. It should be kept in mind that this is a development thread and it's supposed to stay that way :p

    Hi @Myself5
    You can say a time for android oreo update? :((((
    Thanks for your time.

    I'll try my very best to get it released at 12:51:21 GMT +2.

    Glad you didn't ask for a date. Otherwise I would have needed to scream at you for being demanding and disrespectful.
