On the 8/5 build, I dirty installed over the 7/15 install, and now Google Play Store won't run. It crashes when either the tablet looks for updates or when I initiate it manually. Going to try a few things before rolling back.. Will keep you posted.

Hmmm... no such issues with 8/5 on my tablet. Play Store updates are working fine.

Has the hangouts SMS issue been resolved yet?

Hi @GuyFromDenmark

Here are the following issues that are known to us:

1. "OK Google" or also known as Google Voice services, is nto working right now, this is a tricky issues and will require some time to resolve, but it is high on the priority list

2. Google Hangouts SMS services is also not working, causing frequent force closure or locking the tablet up when using it, investigations into this one will kick off soon, as the dev team will work on a top-down order and on one problem at a time to avoid introducing further bugs/issues

3. S-Pen issues are also noted, this is not happening to everyone but it is happening to a fair chunk of people so it is under investigation

4. Audio and Charge settings are not baked into the ROM as of yet, one has to use Deathly Auditor to tweak it, however once there is a clear consensus as to what the settings should be, they will get baked into the ROM, and then Deathly can be used for further tweak if so desired

5. The default Google Camera application may not work if it was not initialised at the first boot correctly, the camera is still there but can only be accessible from the lock screen as the app icon/shortcut is missing from the app draw, this is a rare problem, but there is another solution that I worked on which forced me to stumble on another good camera app, I ended up installing "Open Camera" which prooves to be far better than the default one anyway

NOTE: If you used TWRP to backup your CM13 apps, you should not be restoring it onto this version CM14, you really need to do a full wipe and reinstall from scratch, we will not accept or monitor complaints unless the ROM was from a clean install.

That is about it for now, there are others on the list, but they are more featureset requests and just annoying bugs that will get ironed out once the priority list has shrunken.

This ROM is right now at the minute capable of being a daily driver, it is botu 95% production ready which in a custom ROM world, that is daily driver ready.

Cheers,

David.

Hangout no longer support SMS as per Google... no wonder it does not work. try to use Allo or google messenger. Google announced the change to hangout (-SMS) about a year ago, SMS function was to be kept in some form of "Corporate App Package"

I've rooted mine with magisk and have done the same with my girlfriend's galaxy tab pro 10.1. it's been working great, and I can hide root from apps that can normally see round root hide methods, like sky go.

I've not tried systemless supersu, is there advantages to it over magisk?
I read some of the hundreds of forum posts on the Magisk site and concluded that there was a high degree of risk associated with it. On the contrary, the SuperSU and SuHide forums have far fewer "posts of doom". In the main, SuperSU seemed the much less risky route, especially since I have been happy using SuperSU for many years on many devices, without ever encountering an issue with it.

You do need to get the latest beta versions of both products and also a recent version of TWRP (I use 3.1.1) for it to install correctly. You can verify success with the SafetyNet Helper app downloadable through PlayStore.

Although I have not used it on my Note Pro, I have installed it successfully on a Moto X Force and two Moto X Style phones. All three pass the SafetyNet tests and Pokemon Go has been proved on one of the phones.

S-Pen Issues?

I just installed it and love the ROM so far, its fast and havent experienced any issues with the battery. But it does seem that my S-Pen does not work, at all. It doesnt even seem to register that the S-Pen has been removed. Has anyone else had these issues? Any fixes?

Thank you in advance.

Depends what you mean by S-Pen not working. S-Pen works perfectly as an active stylus in all versions of this ROM. However, it does not have the same functionality as with TouchWiz on stock Samsung ROM. Samsung specific S-Pen apps will only work on TouchWiz.

I have noticed that the hover function is sometimes misaligned when browsing XDA.

ROM 12th August

Did this update break PC comms?

Just noticed that I can no longer get a connection between the tablet and my PC. Tried various cables and USB ports without any luck. My other mobile devices still connect perfectly. Charging still works so I don't think that it is an issue with the tablet port.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Had the same issue, after installing 1703 version of win 10, I looked for usb drivers and reinstalled them, restarted and it worked again... Widowed windows maybe?

Reinstalled the Samsung USB drivers and upgraded to latest ROM (19th Aug), but still no joy :(
My bad, i had it too... Ok now try disconnect from computer, go to developers settings, enable MTP and restart tablet (just to be safe).
Replug to pc, and select on teblete dialog to use mtp (def. is charge) ENJOY
Hope that works

Good straw, however, it is not getting to the point where the notification appears for the port mode selection. No USB notification appears on Windows either, so it is as if the tablet port is dead... and yet it still charges!

Please confirm which version of this ROM you are running.

i had the same issue it was the usb controller IC built onto the charging ribbon assembly after replacing the entire charging ribbon with a new on from ebay (10$ from china). It is an easy procedure if you have the basic ability/desire to open your tablet and change the ribbon (no solder req) . Also The battery on this unit is known to have a poorly designed connector with a poorly clamped connection inside the plastic connector harness many have had charging problems as a result such as not charging or taking so long to charge that it cant be used while charging as it would drain faster than it charges. IT is a reasonable assumption that a defective battery harness could cause enough current instabilities that it could damage the pc connectivity usb chip aswell. Good news is the battery harness is easily repaired by soldering the connections or reclamping them more securly or simply get a new battery and it would come with a new harness no work needed.

I was already coming to this conclusion ;)

I have had previous experience replacing a USB ribbon cable on a Note 10.1 and have also replaced the battery on my NotePro 12.2, so I am happy to do this, if required.

All I am waiting for is someone to confirm a working USB port, for data transfer, on either of the most recent two ROMs.
