You did not miss any steps. . The ability to automatically restore software after a factory reset might be solved by creating backups with the new ROM. Although, the issue will most likely work itself out in future ROM updates.
So it's down to ROM implementation that allows the request for a restore from Google? When I first setup my oneplus 3 with the same account as my old nexus 5, I was given a list of previous apps and a tick box to install all or a selection of those previous apps. I presumed CM14.1 would have done the same, but I guess not.

It's not a problem, just curious as to why it didn't give me the same option as my phone. Thanks.

Does these CM14.1 builds exhibit the same wi-fi dropout problem as CM13?
I was having issues before on CM13 and have various BT hubs acting as access points that may have been partly to blame. On CM14.1 with 'F' bootloader, everything seems really fast and solid. Again for me it's only been a few days but good so far!

I have had this issue with cm13 also. When I first installed cm13, the initial set-up did not prompt me to restore applications. But, after a few factory resets, the same exact gapps package then prompted me if I wanted to restore my apps. Actually, I'm not really sure why it did not prompt on the first installation to restore, but I'm assuming it is on Google's side.

Edit: It seems to be up to the ROM's implementation of calling Google's Setup Wizard. Skipping through screens in the setupwizard may prevent Google's setupwizard from prompting to restore apps.

Great work keeping this Amazing tablet updated.
Is this rom ready for a daily driver?
Can someone upload a video of this rom on YouTube?
After dirty flashing the rom was instable, many force close issues, after a clean install, it works perfectly, no issue for me (I don't have sd card installed), it's very smooth.

Dirty install over which version? 14? 13?
I did dirty one over 14 and it worked perfectly.

Well, i format and wipe my V500 and did a clean install of this rom and Gaps.
Don`t no if its normal but in first post says...

"Created 2016-11-08
Last Updated 2016-11-13"

... the link to donwload the rom says "cm-14.1-20161108-UNOFFICIAL-awifi.zip" but first post says it was "Last Updated 2016-11-13".
That "last update" was to the rom or to the first post information?

The rom is very smooth, but i have found some bugs.
Until now this was what i found:

I have force close on sound recorder app and mail app.
I cannot swipe on keyboard to make a word.
Cant access the gallery from the camera app.
Cannot put the seconds on the clock of status bar or change the battery icon.

Sorry my english.

I have just ported the swipe keyboard support library to the nougat base gapps package (gapps-711-base-20161114-1) and it will be available in about an hour. Just flash the latest nougat base gapps package and swipe on the stock Nougat keyboard should be working again.

Edit:

It is now available for testing.

Thanks, it's working now, one less bug.

Haha! I was thinking the re-boot after a flash was faster than before! I'm only hoping this update will help with email losing connection, and so far it is holding. :)

The email app and the sound recorder app still force close.
Since last update, something happened with videos on my browser, they are kind of green an weird, YouTube for example.
The charging icon when tablet is off, is always changing from the little one to the big one with stripes.
I like more the big one.

Latest release is working smoothly as always. The only bug still present is the wrong storage space reading from the external SD card. It's only annoying when I want to install an APK, because I then get the error message that I'm all out of free space. Anyone got around that?
