In a terminal session window I can see that internal sdcard has owner root and group sdcard_rw, permissions are 771, i.e, rwxrwx--x.
What are the correct settings?
Could someone running Lineage 14 see what the internal sdcard has for owner and group and permission settings? Also, it would be great if we had this for the external sdcard as well.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. There is a download link at the top right hand corner of the webpage that takes you to another page where I found the zip file.

Disappointing that this problem isn't fixed yet, but given the development work is all done by volunteers, I'm grateful that they are working towards a solution.

Regards
Paul
As long as there is only T810 specific developer, it can take a while. I'm currently drowning in work, killing off my.dev time.

Extsd works as it should, /storage/....-..../ is writable to all processes that have been granted access. (For TB, use document provider to select it and navigate further within the app)

As far as I know, encryption of ext sd isn't possible, unless you use it as replacement of internal. (A lot slower and you can't exchange data)

Hm, can't say I know what Document Provider is... I Googled it and it seems to be some kind of API framework but I do not understand how I can use it. Just to make sure, I also searched for Document Provider in the Playstore to see if it might be some obscure application.

I'll bite - what does the above mean? :)

Hi,
Document provider is a storage management option within the app Titanium Backup that enables you to select the external SD card as the storage location for that app. I think this is what TI is referring to.

Hope that helps.

Hi TI,

Your efforts are really appreciated, and understand you have work and other priorities too, so please take your time we will be patient. (Apologies if my previous message appeared critical in anyway, this was not my intention.)

Thank you, that did help. It took me some time to find the Preferences setting in TB which is in a non-standard location, then navigating to Backup Location and then selecting Document Provider, hitting Select after choosing the backup directory where I have my existing TB backups, and then I am back in TB. However, I only have the Cancel option in TB, the option Use the current folder is greyed out after I have chosen Document Provider...

By the way, please note that I am restoring from the TB directory on the /internal/ sdcard, not the /external/ sdcard. which I am /completely/ unable to access at all. Again, I have no idea why, this was the card I used when running CM 13. As for external sdcard it is mounted and in Lineage Settings I can see how much of the card is used, yet I am unable to access it at all in the File Browser which complains "Can't load content at the moment."

Is the first a bug in TB or again something I have to work-around?

And how do I regain access to my external sdcard?

[Grumble on]Android seems to getting more and more complex with new releases and I am not sure what the user benefits are...[Grumble off]

Hi,
Titanium Backup: As I recall you first have to select the root directory which will give you write access. You then repeat the process but select the folder you want to use.

External SD card. As I recall the first time I installed a CM14 / LineageOS 14 rom on my Samsung tablet and mobile, I had to format the external SD card to get it to work properly. This means you will lose any data on the card so anything important will need copying to another device and then copying back again after the formatting. I have only had to do this once, subsequent installations of other 14 roms have been fine. A pair I know but worked for me. However, cannot say if this would fix your problem.

Good luck!

Thank you. Eventually I found information that I need to select the root directory after choosing Document Provider in TB, I could then Ok the selection and found myself back in TB. TB then asked me whether it should copy the files in the TB backup directory, I said yes (consistent with information I found in another forum), it told me that it copied 2512 files (my backup files). Unfortunately, after that I could not find them, they went poof somewhere...

Luckily I should have all backups backup-ed on another computer but all these contortions Android has invented is driving me crazy. Not only accessing the TB backups after I eventually recovering them, copying the files on my external sdcard to another computer and then copying them back again... Am I to understand that I will not be able to access /any/ of my existing external sdcards, I would have to move data to another computer, format each and every card and then move the data back to the card? Or is this a one-time thing on the /first/ external sdcard used? If the former, it would be a huge pain in the ass since it would prevent easy swapping of cards with data on them between the tablet and a computer.

The Linux distribution I use on a daily basis on my desktop, Centos, is so much simpler... [Grumble on]Whatever are the Google Android developers thinking...[Grumble off]

Is it possible to install nightlies over the last ones of TIs roms ? Or rather recommend to do a fresh install.

I am running 20170217-unofficial and currently have BT issues as others described above, so hope it will be ok with latest unofficial or nightlies.

Thanks Guys

Yes, but you have to first dirty flash the experimental build, gapps, etc. Let it boot into system and then you can dirty flash an official nightly build, gapps, etc.

Sorry to ask, but experimentals you mean which one ? (Ok found it *facepalm*, will try your procedure before clean install.)
Just tried current nightly over TIs 0224 and get within TWRP : update process ended with error 7, can't install this package on top of incompatible data, please try another ...or factory reset.

Hmpf, ok so will double check the nightly i loaded and seem to have to do clean install and tb restore.

Thanks ripee

I got the same error 7 when I tried to dirty flash an official nightly over the last unofficial build, but dirty flashing the experimental build, gapps, etc, then letting it boot normally, worked. I didn't lose any user data and I didn't need to clean flash.

Ok thanks - so far so good, your trick worked - i am on nightly now with no data loss (*thumb up*)

Sadly BT issue persists, enabeling does work only by going back and forth in settings and when it tries to pair with a device (bt speaker for instance, changes its led rhythm) lineage does not complete the pairing process.

Thanks anyway ripee
and @ti for this awesome job supporting -getting-rid-of-stock- from the beginning

Info: fresh install nightly with full wipe did not solve the BT issue, tried multiple devices;

I just came across information that a recent Playstore update apparently interfered with restoring TB backups as well as some other software. Could that have been the reason for my failure or is it completely certain that changing to the Document Provider setting in TB is/was the problem?

RL is being hogging time like there is more then enough. :(

Build went Nightly (Weekly to be more precise) 26-02-2017. Just updated OP with link to the Nightly builds and added my compile of yesterday.

Hi all

I just clean flashed latest build from @TI:

Bluetooth does not work with this rom either.
Uploaded logcat filtered for -i bluetooth.

http://pastebin.com/iT0B5dy5

[...]
03-12 16:43:50.127 7100 7100 D AvrcpBipRsp: onReceive: android.bluetooth.device.action.ACL_DISCONNECTED
03-12 16:43:50.133 7100 7100 D BluetoothMapService: onReceive
03-12 16:43:50.134 7100 7100 D BluetoothMapService: onReceive: android.bluetooth.device.action.ACL_DISCONNECTED
03-12 16:43:50.134 7100 7100 E BluetoothMapService: Unexpected error!
[...]

Can anyone else confirm BT issues or is something weird going on with my device (have not tested stock rom yet) ?

If any other log would help, let me know.

It was working for me and then I made a big booboo with no backup and had to install again and now it no longer pairs. I'll get a logcat when I get back home tomorrow. Grrr.

Other than my stupidity this Rom is fast and smooth.

I believe I read somewhere that the inability to access the external sdcard may be a bug in the OS - can anyone confirm if the latest build is able to access the external sdcard?

I am on latest nightly and have no issues accessing the sdcard, but as stated before : i had to reformat when moving from cm13 to 14 as they changed from exfat to vfat :

/mnt/media_rw/AFC2-1D01 type vfat (rw,dirsync,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,uid=1023,gid=1023,fmask=0007,dmask=0007,allow_utime=0020,codepage=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,utf8,errors=remount-ro)

Right now only BT seems not to work for me and i hope someone is looking into that :)

Ah, that's it - a change from exFAT to vFAT! I had not picked up on that before. Are there no drivers for exFAT for Nougat? It seems this could be an issue moving sdcards between the tablet and other computers that may not have vFAT as default.
