Do you guys want me to bump Android version and start doing unofficial builds or are you all pretty happy with official weeklies?
I always had sim/data problems with the official one. Currently using AOSIP which is a fantastic Rom but missing the smoothness of Lineage when it properly works. I would definitely give it a shot of your unofficial build.

This is probably a stupid question . I am on the Unofficia build (this thread). and unofficial ones do not auto update right ? Or is there a way to do that ?

I was planning to try pixel exp on pie but due to the USB issues my phone is having (possibly hardware) am a little wary to try a switch ch withiut a way to revert of things go wrong..

I would love to have updated unofficial builds.. to update I just flash over the previous one right ? Is there early update guide for unofficial builds that someone can point me to please ?

Hi
Actually I haven't attempted an OS change since if anything goes wrong I'd have no way to transfer files.. but if I can be sure it's an hardware issue then I can get the port replaced..

Did u see my point on how an OTG cable xonnect d to the phone is detected on the phone terminal lsusb command ? How can this be ?

There are lines that transfers data and charge your phone. Your jack has problem. I don't know much hardware but your jack is faulty. And connection through terminal of your OTG may just be the way how that terminal respond if it receives even a single signal from the jack but that doesn't mean it's not faulty. I had similar problem (didn't check the Iusb command though) but nothing was working. It was charging sometimes not and sometimes there was no response at all. No response from the PC also. And then I brought my phone to the service centers. They vhecked my charger and cable and they were working fine. But they said the the component that transmit the dtaat signal is damaged. So they changed the whole jack. And now it's fine

Unofficial and Official both don't support OTA. You will have to manually flash it through TWRP.
And update won't require to clean flash over previous version/build until the Dev say so.

Official lineage supports OTA. You still have to have latest TWRP installed though.

LOL. Anup the "I know it all" brat is back.

I know what Over The Air updates are. But unlike you I don't get all technical in these threads..

Go back to your monolog of a thread and shut it.

Ignoring all you said. If you were to actually know about them why don't you know the difference between an incremental OTA and a full OTA?

Because again unlike you I don't get technical and the purpose of the post was to tell him that the OTAs are not incremental.. But just a dirty flash of the new build.

But since you always need to get so damn technical and also because you love to TRY to correct me you just had to say something..

PS.: ignoring following posts..

Is still an OTA. You don't have to manually boot into recovery to flash it. I never said anything about incremental.

There's 2 kinds of OTAs for non-A/B devices

Full OTAs
Incremental OTAs

Full: they include the entire system image of the ROM and boot image. They extract this onto your phone without having a dependency on the already installed system image (see below for incremental explanation). This OTA is released by manufacturers when incremental is impossible or infeasible

Incremental: OTAs that manufacturers release. They contain diffs instead of the entire ROM. The zip contains commands to reorder blocks on the system and add/remove existing blocks of data. For the end user instead of having to download a 1.1 GB ROM (talking about stock), he just has to download, say, 80-90 mb to update his system. Basically it makes your current system image match the new system image

Infeasibility: since incrementals are computed by the device recovery on the device itself, you can't use them for major version updates as it would take 30-40 minutes to compute and install vs 2 minutes for a full OTA

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.0 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

First BETA build is up! :p

Feels good to make our way up-to beta. That being said, changelog and FAQ posts are updated. Make sure you read them before asking anything.

    Camera details
Camera was real struggle to get working on OP2. Maybe I'm noob with cameras lol. Anyways, camera is in working state including video recording. This said, my wonderful testers went ahead and tested several third party camera apps and found out that they all were working fine. This includes Google Camera (from 4.1 to 4.4), OxygenOS Camera (OP2, OP3 and OP5), Open Camera, WhatsApp (Video calling and video recording), Telegram, Skype, Instagram, Snapchat and others. This update also fixes green photos while clicking multiple pictures.
4K recording is currently disabled on the build to avoid lags and crashes. This will be added when los merges necessary patches

    About HAL3 and Camera modes
As mentioned in my previous post, HAL3 is implemented and working properly on OP2 Oreo. Enabling HAL3 allows some cool stuff to mess with camera. All the camera modes (HDR, bestshot, RAW and lens blur) are found to be working.

    Things to follow up
As we're on beta now, my aim is fix rest of minor bugs which are not fatal but sure annoy a lot for some. This will take time and the size of changelog will decrease too. We're insanely lucky to have Oreo running this good on our devices compared to others which are still struggling to get things working flawlessly.

New journey to stable builds begins now!

    UPDATE!

Though I was pissed to the extreme to see the mess in thread, I also noticed good ones who deserved the piece of work that I did ;)

I'm sorry to over react yesterday but somewhere it tells me that it was necessary to put few things out. That being said, here's the update. I've worked hard for this update and this brings lot of fixes and squashes out annoying bugs.

As usual, check post #2 and #3 for changelog and FAQ respectively.

    This for the entitled userbase

    Thank you for the support
    Enjoy Oreo
