what is going on?

Ok so I have tried every single suggestion for how to stop the set up wizard from preventing set up on this ROM by crashing. From Senior members and from Psy-Man himself?

The set up wizard crash has something to do with Gapps. When I try to install either unofficial or official Pico Gapps (the reccommended gapps)

I get a permanent set up wizard crash even after the new firmwear is flashed first before anything.

Please do not tell me I am doing something wrong as I am confident I am NOT doing anything wrong?

This ROM will only boot minus Gapps?

has anyone else encountered this issue.

Going with Cosmic ROM. The boot and set up issues with lastest 2 LOS15.1 ROMs are apparently permanent?

Theanks @pSy-Man but this ROM I just cannot set up?

The issue with the camera is present... The modification for G cam doesn't work very well, a lot of lags after a shot and the 120i/s doesn't work too, have you a solution ? For the moment I switched to Cosmic OS where G Cam seems to work like a charm but no 120i/s or I don't found the option

Stock cam is a really good app. We would appreciate it if this could be fixed. This is the only critical error remained to be fixed in this rom. By the time though, a really good cam to use is open camera which is close to stock and has an option to enable api.

OK so I have progress finally. Cosmic OS failed an slowed down. I finally managed to get this ROM past the set up failure.

If you want this ROM to boot please do these things exactly or you will very likely get a set up error.

1)Install the latest TWRP 3.2.1-0 Scorpio Treble V2.

2)Perform a full 'format data' complete wipe (after a backup to the cloud or your computer)

3)In this exact order install only!
fw miui firmwear 8.2.1 zip (by Psy-Man)
Then this ROM
Then only official gapps 8.1 ark64 pico

4) Any divination from this order caused me set up errors an prevented me using the ROM about 10 times :)

Very difficult ROM to install an make work.

Jury is still out on how well it functions an I'm still testing.

Sorry Psy-Man but just relaying my experiences to anyone who had as much difficulty as me with set up errors :)

Why do you say that Cosmic OS failed an slower down ? I don't feel any différence with Lineage OS, just Lineage doesn't work with Gcam whereas Cosmic did it... Can you explain ?

Good question. This is a forum for Psy-Mans LOS15.1 ROM. If you want to check what went wrong with CosmicOS you should find my explanation there. Basically I installed android P launcher an the whole ROM fell apart?. So far LOS15.1 is working after a few stalls. That is after I overcame all the set up problems.

I found this ROM has a very precise an specific set of things that allow normal set up. I am not a noob but wow it was not easy to set up.

That's why I shared my 'idiots set up guide' for LOS15.1. So far I am the only one that had set up issues

    Reporting Bugs

    Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
