This is not so hard to imagine, come on.
There are tons of reasons that come to my mind why he wants to do other things.
- a new mobile
- a new girlfriend
- a new game / netflix series / whatever he likes to do more currently
Just realize this is not a paid job, this is a hobby for fun. You do this just as long until you have something you like to do more in your spare time.

Guys, have you noticed anything regarding sound recording? I've tried many apps like Hi-Q MP3 Rec or Easy Voice Recorder, and the recording starts sounding normally for 1 sec and then gets like muffled for the rest of the duration. That happens every time and it is quite noticable when recording music from an external source of course.

No such issues here, just tested for you on easy voice recorder, and have been using acr call recording for longer time, also voiceclips on whatsapp record and play just fine.
Perhaps re-download the rom and dirty flash it ?
To be clear, I'm not talking about call recording, I'm talking about recording from external sources like the radio etc. I'll try reflashing!
It does not work, I tried to repair the filesystem and it does not work, error 8 ..

The ROM is dead. Devs moved on to Pie ROMs. If you want a Oreo ROM with weekly updates try official LineageOS or Mokee

Cardinal-AOSP is a Custom ROM which was initially based on AOSPB, then we changed our mind and rebased it to AOSP-RRO, to get better compatibility with most of the devices. And now we are based on AOSP on oreo. The main aim of this ROM is to bring stock AOSP experience as much as possible while maintaining performance, smoothness and good battery backup.
