This may be an extremely lame question, but I have to ask it for the piece of mind it may give me. Camera quality was pretty bad in the stock ROM (washed out colors, lot of blur etc.). Does madOS improve that in any way? I'm a pretty lazy guy when it comes to installing custom ROMs, but if the camera gets better even the tiniest bit, I will not hesitate to upgrade.

There are improvements, but it is still a bad camera.

Thanks! I decided to give it a try, but for some reason, the needed recovery for Oreo does not flash for me. Well actually it does, but I cannot boot into it, and it causes the OS to start.
This however seems to work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/howto-twrp-root-vernee-apollo-lite-t3509647

Does anyone know why this could be?

EDIT: Is it possible, that I have to flash the 7.1.2 ROM in firmware upgrade mode before I can use the new recovery, because the partition sizes may have changed?

Really????

It is written in red in OT:
"The latest 7.1.2 build must be flashed in SPFT with firmware upgrade mode before this ROM can be flashed"

"The latest 7.1.2 build must be flashed in SPFT with firmware upgrade mode before this ROM can be flashed"

I know its written there, I'm not that stupid (at least not now). First I wanted to flash the new recovery not the ROM itself. And the OP does not say anything about restrictions related to flashing the recovery ONLY...

EDIT: I've gotten to the part, where I can flash 3.0.2 and 3.1.1 and use the ONCE and only once. Next time (after a successful Android system boot) I try to boot into recovery it reverts back to the stock recovery. I did not want to flash SuperSU for now. Regarding this I have no clue why it happens. Did anyone else experience the same?

EDIT2: Well for whatever reason it only worked properly with also flashing SuperSU...

EDIT3: As stated in the previous post fter flashing SuperSU the recovery did not revert to stock. Now after a successfull firmware upgrade mode flash the TWRP required for madOS 8.1 was able to be installed and worked properly. After doing so the system installed without errors. (Strangely though TWRP 3.0.2 was able to do a full backup, while 3.1.1 was unable to read some partitions.)

TLDR:
I strongly think that one has to flash SuperSU simultaneously for TWRP (3.0.2, 3.1.1) to work permanently while on stock OS (my device was on the latest official OTA). This is regardless of flashing the last stable version of madOS 7.1.2 with SPFT. But that is most likely required to install the TWRP requirement of madOS 8.1.

    General F.A.Q.

Q: What the hell is madOS ?
A: madOS, (M.A.D. Team OS), is a ROM based on pure A.O.S.P. with extended capabilities and customizations made by or merge/adapted by M.A.D. Team.

Q: Which recovery should I use for this ROM?
    A: Latest M.A.D. TWRP 3.2.1-0 recovery
    --> Check xda Download Section

    Q:
How do i flash new recovery ?
    A:
1: You can flash it with a scatter file (LP rom layout)
2: You can simply flash it from the existing twrp recovery: Install> Install image> Select Oreo TWRP> Select "Recovery" as partition to flash.
Reboot to recovery to use new one

Q: Do i need to make full wipes?
A: YES, dont come crying at me, if you didn't .... ;p

Q: What is "full wipes" ?
A: To Wipe : Cache; System; DATA ...

    Q: What should i use f2fs or ext4?
A: Both are supported, choose the one you desire

Q: is the Data connection issue of going to / from 4G still present?
A: nope ;) data switchs pretty fast on our new RIL
    2G>3G>4G | 4G>3G>2G pretty fast

Q: Does this rom have any Theme support
A: Yup, We have working Theme Engine (madOS extras)

Q: Some translations are missing for my language, can I help?
A: Sure you can, please check our translations repo available here , you can either do a pull request, or if you don't know how to work with git, sent us the XML. Strings for your language ( Check Readme on repo).
