if you follow the installation instructions, you should be able to boot

    1. Make yourself a backup of your ROM within TWRP and also make sure you copy your internal data to somewhere off phone
    2. Download ROM base and Gapps (recommend pico or nano)
    3. Boot to TWRP (blu recommended) and install ROM and Gapps package
3.1 Format data partition in TWRP (in case you are coming from OOS)
    4. Boot to system (ROM)
    5. Optional, reboot to TWRP and flash preferred root method

so, by following the official installation description, you should be just fine coming from OOS Nougat
however, I do advise on being on OOS Oreo first, then follow the steps

    Hello dev.

I followed the instructions from OP yesterday but it also did not work for me that way (I was coming from liquedrom) .
It booted every time to recovery only after flashing oos beta firmware and the no-verity v2 I was able to boot :good:

    Thanks for the great rom.

    Regards ysco..

  • No offense intended but this ROM is pretty bad. Aesthetics and performance. Did everything by the book but it's just awful. Lags all over the shop.

    no prob
I kind of like negative reviews better since it makes me concentrate more on user needs then just simple "best ROM" comments

regarding aesthetics I am not sure what are your expectations, but crDroid is one of the most customizable ROMS around
not saying this since I build and support it, I say this since I am running it since two years ago in different phones and saw the evolution, while also trying a lot of other ROMS around
you can tweak the UI quite a lot and also use Substratum for example, to customize your experience
maybe you can suggest things that you need and are missing?

regarding performance, well I could say that this is a "BETA" and bugs can sure follow, but I think it depends a lot by your usage and installation
while for me, all seems to be just fine (no lags and so, except in heavy intensive games or tasks)
this will get improved as time goes on for sure (we are still BETA hehe :D)

I'm not experiencing any lag honestly, only problem for me is the sub-optimal battery drain, which is understandable since the ROM is very much still in BETA state

Its not really laggy but it has some hickups sometimes. Which is okay.. The bigger problem isnthe battery yes. But since it uses LOS as a base (as far as I know) it could also be the problem.

But yes customisation is very good.

if you follow the installation instructions, you should be able to boot
    6) try to flash ""no_verity_op5_v2"" after magisk 14.5.2
(note do not flash 15.2 magisk at first. it will not boot)
First flash magisk 14.5.2 frm TWRP. then only update to latest from magisk manager.

This rom has indeed some powerful features and a lot to customize. But I agree with showofdeth ( the part about lag only ;)) that the rom has some lag but will be solved eventually.
I came from liquedrom and response with opening apps and the whole system is way faster on liquedrom . But all roms are just started the builds for 5t and appreciate the work off the devs for the time they put in the great roms. So for me i compared Cdroid with liquedrom and oos beta and omni then Cdroid has the most lag. But I just wait patiently for another build and hoping in time that the rom will be as fast as other roms I compared.

Thanks dev for the Awesome work so far.

    Regards ysco..

For battery and performance look at the code of Liquid Remix and use some of their stuff (if you can and it is legal) :D But customisation is better on yours and you have 8.1 :D

Battery is also better now on liquedremix but I'm sure this will be better in time on Cdroid also. I have played with greenify to hibernate most apps but no significant battery improvement. I also played with some settings in developer options but the performance is also not improving.
Any tips would be great, like I said i wait patiently on the upcoming builds. And indeed more features on Cdroid and 8.1 :cowboy:

    Regards ysco.

Of course it will be better with time. Only wondering if the LOS base causes the battery drain because Liquid Remix is not completely los based as far as I know.

This project is now in maintenance mode
This means that mostly only a security update will be released once a month after Google (and LOS) pushes code and I get some time to build it (usually happens between 5 and 15 of every month)
All development is now focused on crDroid v5 Pie
