After flashing the ROM, reboot to TWRP and then flash gapps or any other zips..

This is exactly what I did, but it doesn't reboot to TWRP after flashing the ROM and stuck on boot screen every time!
BTW: I'm using TWRP 3.2.3.0 by CosmicDan.
Try this:
1. Boot into TWRP using "fastboot boot recovery.img"
2. Flash the ROM.
3. Reboot to bootloader
4. Again boot into TWRP using "fastboot boot recovery.img"
5. Flash gapps or any other zips.
6. Reboot system.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work, black screen after reboot :(

back to RR ROM again! Should I flash Stock Pie ROM first??

Hello,

I have this ROM installed in my Mi A1 and it has the updater APP. It's still unofficial, I understand that, but, this Updater will be compatible with the official builds when they are ready?

Thanks in advance

In the past lineageos team have release some special build to migrate from a previous los version to a newer one.

Hello ! Is the firmware you talk about different from the LOS16 ROM itself ? If so, what is that firmware and where do we get it ?
Thank you !

The term firmware is generally applied to the modem partition which deals with your antenna and therefore is responsible for your mobile network signal.

It is not part of LOS and can be found in this thread.

There is other stuff going on in the firmware and many pie ROMs require a pie firmware. However, there have been problems when updating the firmware, especially with LTE band 20 in Europe.

Make TWRP backups, especially modem and EFS

Is WiFi more reliable on this than on Stock Pie?

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.
