Sometimes the camera (foto) and the led torchlight don't work. What triggers this, I haven't relly figuret it out yet, but after some time it starts to work again (without reboot!).

Hello

thanks for this carbon rom, one of my favorite.

I was before on Carbon Rom 6, made a short time with lineage OS 16 and now back (with great pleasure) on carbon 7.
But the camera is not good as in cynogen : pictures are always over exposed, , and contrast is very hard (lot of darkness, or birghtness).
Is it possible to adjust this on the rom ?
Thank you

I want to say thank you to the Modder.

The rom is spectacular. Fluid. Good performance one the battery (i must remember that this battery and phone have 5 years....).

This older one with this rom have a great performance.

Only have one problem after initialization i can't pass the option to have google apps working for us... But i can bypass this by don't add an account in the beginning and deactivated the notification from welcome app because i can´t pass this.

Once more, TYVM for your hard work

Dude we are grateful for the excellent rom and updates. But you do not even revise the first post about updates. I am not mentioning about changelogs, bugfixes etc.

When this is the case, how do you expect us to be informed of the updates and give a try to them and send feedback to you? I mean, you keep developing the Rom, but it is like you do not give a s*** about it. It is like producing a product and not trying to sell it.

There may be bugs; bugfixes may not be possible. All is OK. But why do not you give us any update about the development? This, I cant udnerstand.

Regards

Hi,
I do not get a good fix on my gps signal. Any ideas?

Ardiclii may have said it a bit harsh but a changelog would be really nice

(---cut---)

Before you run the application associated with GPS services for the first time, you should connect Carbon with the internet and enable location.

I do not think that OP must adapt to the expectations of users.
He just does his job well.
If you were more insightful in looking for answers, you would have found a site with changelogs for a long time.

I do not have any expectations at all. What he is serving is totally up to him and his decision. He does not have to abide with anything or anyone. He can put the development into a halt whenever he wants. He can even break the rom. That is his and only his decision. Everyone should respect.

I am just talking about common sense here. If you are doing for someone, you let them know right.

I am on 0605 version. Everything is fine with it. So responsive, fluid and fast. There minor bugs of course. For example, there is small disorientation with status bar which I mentioned in my previous posts in detail so the dev can address it. I also mentioned about battery life and compared it with the carbon 6.1 so that the dev can have an idea.

In return he said nothing. This is Ok. He does not have to reply everyone. He can take notes and look into the bugs/problems during development / bug fixes. However, I / we do not know whether this is the case. Because he said nothing.

There were several updates which I was not aware of since there were no head ups about them. He did not even say that "guys here is the weekly" or something. How the hell am I supposed to know that there is an update available if no-one tells me?

I learned that there were updates thanks to a post mentioning "after update this week" or something alike.

Even if this is the case, how can I know whether the update is addressing something I am interested in. I am not a flashcolic and do not want to install every weekly.

And you say there is a page for the changelogs. I am very well aware of it. Could you please be kind enough to explain the ones below and the rest on that page? Cause I am not a developer and having hard time to comprehend them.

"android_device_oneplus_msm8998-common:*Revert "msm8998-common: Disable sdm rotator downscaler"

android_device_oneplus_msm8998-common:*Revert "msm8998-common: enable early phase offsets"

android_device_oneplus_msm8998-common:*msm8998-common: audio: update acdb table from 9.0.6"

(I am not even sure these are about our device. There are ton of lines there about very other phones...)

This rom is being developed for users here. If they are not acknowledged and informed here about what is going on, then what is the point of it at all....

Regards.

I have the impression that you are looking for analogies from the commercial sector to teams that create open software.
It's a mistake, because there are other goals.
I will try to explain things to you a little.

The main Carbon stock program maintains >this< team.
The co-workers contribute their work (branches) to the specific device.
This is how a tree is created from which fruits can arise (ROM).
Compare the work of OP (Ashutosh Taklikar) with the work of other contributors and/or the team to understand what is their individual participation in the creation of the whole tree.

Perhaps you overestimate OP's capabilities.
He certainly has his own life, his passions and individual interpersonal communication skills.
Let's be happy that he is doing something for us and we can use this work.

If you are here, it is probably also because you want to give something positive and valuable to other people.

It does not matter that you do not understand the changelogs entries.
Perhaps they are not meant for you and you will not be a specialist in understanding what they are talking about, just as I am not a specialist in writing in English.
For sure, nobody in this thread will be able to explain the meaning of entries.

Regards.

p.s.
I apologize to everyone and OP for OT.
I will not touch more matters from outside the topic.

Guys, sorry I was busy for a while. I had exams going, so I wasn't active on the forums. However, I have addressed the issues and we are looking into it.
As far as posts for updates goes, I haven't put up any since there were no device-side changes. Whenever there is a significant bug fix or optimisation regarding our device, expect a post from me. Otherwise, the weekly addresses the rom-side changes and bug-fixes, and all the changelog can be found here.
There was one significant update with the kernel with the sultan optimizations, I didn't mention, as I wanted to see if you guys felt any difference, and I didn't want it to be a placebo. So there are CPU based optimizations to make the touch feel smoother and also make it a little bit better for the battery too.
Hope this finds you well. Thanks for your support guys. :)

    Who's back? We're back.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub and at CarbonROM Gerrit

    Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

    Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

    1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has addressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
    2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
    3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
    4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quick responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.

We recommend OpenGapps. MindTheGapps should work, but please make sure you clearly mention the gapps you're using when reporting bugs.

Feel free to post any bug you find on a proper way:
    1. Build you are running
    2. Mods you are using: music mods, magisk, whatever.
    3. How to reproduce it.
    4. Logcat, ksmeg... if applicable.

I would like this thread to be an example of a development thread so please:
    1. Be respectful with each other.
    2. READ a couple of times the OP before posting. If there is anything that is not in the op and should be there just let me know.
    3. Search before posting, maybe your question is already answered.
    4. Features request are allowed, but it doesn't mean I will fulfil all of them. And they are not the reason behind this thread.

That's all for now. Enjoy CarbonRom :)
