I'm calling it now. Custom roms will be dead once the p4 comes out. Google is locking their stuff down and it seems to much of a headache to maintain roms with monthly security updates / Google integrating custom rom features into its own releases. Sucks.

You have a similar stance on rooting/stock-based ROMS? Maybe that'll be the way to go in the future. I own a Pixel 3 and I've found stock+GravityBox+QuickSwitch to be honestly better than any custom ROM available. Same story with my OP7P - there's a "Magisk rom" that has a bunch of extra features built on top of stock.

These types of projects ensure that everything is working as it would in stock but bring third-party customizations. I like them - especially as stock ROMs get better.

I'm not sure. Guess it depends on how Google approaches security and their os in the future. I agree that stock plus customizations is great but we will see.

from what I've gathered, Google is trying to make their system as secure as possible but not trying to keep developers and SU's away from root, e t c. like the new system-as-root system wasn't made to make root harder, it was made to simplify organization of the filesystem. from what I foresee, I feel like pixels and OnePlus phones at least will always have stock-based ROMs available with customizations. probably LG too.

Totally agree with you regarding nothing being better than stock. That's partially down to why I've stopped compiling custom ROMs for the P3. They're just sluggish compared to stock. Not close at all.

When Android Q custom ROMs come around I'll probably compile those to see how they are. May be surprised and find the sexy new smooth animations are there.

i think this depends from the rom and optimisations, the more features customisations it has, the more sluggish. I'm running aquarios and it is totally comparable to stock in terms of smoothness, if not better, also DU was the same.
aex, bootleggers and similar instead feel slower, and indeed they have many more customisations.. maybe that's just a case though

    AOSP Extended is an AOSP based ROM which provides stock UI/UX experience with useful customizations. Being based on AOSP it provides a smooth experience. We have added useful customizations from various other open source projects and have tried to keep our things simple. A ROM by a user, for a user. #BeExtended

    I guess there is nothing wrong in reading facts!

    -Base Of the ROM & Version?
    ->Rom is based on AOSP.

    -Why no "Incremental/Delta updates" Support?
    ->Actually the updates we provide monthly are heavily changed and modified than the previous builds. New stuff is merged and added. So we don't provide incremental updates and recommend a clean flash.

    -Does this ROM Support Substratum?
    ->Yes, full Substratum support!

    -Which Gapps are recommended?
    ->OpenGapps

    -How do I root this ROM?
    ->We recommend Magisk

    -Will this ROM relock the bootloader?
    ->No.

    -What about XPOSED?
    ->XPOSED is still in beta stage. We like Xposed but it messes up with the system so before giving any bug reports make sure you have Xposed uninstalled.

    -When Will Be the Next Update?
    ->No ETAs, please. ROM Will be updated whenever the new build is ready by your maintainer. We generally provide monthly updates with latest security patches and new features.

    -I am facing FCs, Bugs, Some feature is broken?
    ->Provide full info about your problem with logcat and the procedure to reproduce it.

    -Adaway is not working :(

    -SElinux Linux mode changer app is not working nor Busy Box installer app is working.
    ->Everything is good with the sources. You should try other things first and then contact your maintainer.

    IIRC, Active Edge (squeeze) and Pixel Stand features (photo frame, for example) are proprietary and closed-source, so all AOSP-based ROMs will lack those capabilities.

    It's been some years since I've had a phone where I had to deal with the option (stock-based with limited tweaks, but full features or AOSP-based with lots of tweaks but lacking full functionality)...I don't even know if there is a stock-based ROM for Bluecross.

    Besides, Active Edge on Pie is dumb unless you install Edge Sense Plus to modify its actions into something more helpful. I came from an Android One X4, so I made a single squeeze launch the camera and a long squeeze turn on/off the flashlight. Not as good as the gestures on the X4, IMO, but certainly more useful than squeezing to launch Google (which I can do just by talking to the phone). Less of an issue on Q since the ability to change the function of the squeeze will be baked in.

    Active edge was essentially reverse engineered by Dirty Unicorns. So it is possible to put it into the ROM. I may look to build it in, but I'm very limited with the time I have to do so.
    Active Edge within custom roms natively contains the ability to customise the functionality (checkout AOSIP rom).

    Also, I've updated the download link. New builds are complete with the APN issues fixed :D
    7
    No more closed source thingy.

    I am sorry, Google :p
    7
    New builds are now up in the repository. (Blueline may still be uploading depending on how early you see this post).

    Sorry for the delay, I had an issue with GAPPS being uncertified and it took me a while to sort it out. Enjoy :).
