I have previously stated my issue.

In my Redmi 5, when I flashed Pixel Experience ROM, there was no fingerprint option on the settings. Our fellow friend suggested to use treble recovery and wipe Vendor partition also. I did the same but no change.

Further I tried other custom roms also. I faced the same issue. Finally, I flashed the stock miui rom using my PC.

In the stock ROM the fingerprint option is there and it is working flawlessly.

What is the problem? Where am I going wrong? How to fix this issue.

Please help me. It is my daily driver.

Thank you very much.
Try flashing the rom now.

facing bootloop after flashing via twrp 3.3.1.0, I tried both the normal and plus versions
I had to clear data(3rd tab in the wipe option) to mount storage(encryption fix), might that be the problem?
Also, before and after installing I wiped data

Assuming you have all your important files in your SD card and not on phone storage, go to Wipe section of TWRP and select first 5 options and swipe to flash. After thais ensure that in Mounts section Keep System Read-Only is checked. Now flash the ROM zip and reboot. Don't try to flash any other zip with it. It will take a good 15 -20 mins (as in my case) but will eventually boot. Regards

Did you change something in the Preferred Network Type settings? Try change to LTE/TDSCDMA/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA

Step Guide on Rooting and Installation

Hi,

Can anyone please provide a step by step guide of rooting Redmi 5 and installing TWRP (version?)/Magisk. I wish this was mentioned in the original post and I tried looking for it everywhere but couldn't find anything that provides complete guide for a noob like me. This is my primary device and I cannot risk to brick it.

Also I would really appreciate if someone can recommend which is more stable version 'normal' or 'plus'?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
RG

Hi there, I'll tell you my experience. I had the bootloader unlocked but had tried for many days to root it within MIUI but couldn't. Somehow I was able to install Magisk but it would crash without error. So I formatted the phone completely and even soft bricked it lmao. But I could restore it with EDL mode so don't worry if you do so too.

Now what you should do.
0. Backup whatever you value and save it somewhere else. I cannot guarantee that you will not soft brick your device as theres always the human error( on the user's part).
1. Get your bootloader unlocked. Google on how to do it.
2. Download adb drivers for rosy ( again google it) and download ADB and Fastboot tool. You need this to be able to do anything ahead. Enable developer options and under dev options enable USB debugging.
3. Download the twrp treble recovery for rosy(google) or jsut download orangefox recovery for rosy its better than twrp and Plus version (it has few more customization features and yes its really stable). Copy it to your SDcard.
4. Copy the twrp image file to where your minimal adb and fastboot is installed (program files x86) and rename it to recovery.img ( your extensions should be visible in explorer). Also copy it to your phone/sd card for later use.
5. Now connect your phone ( with atleast 40% battery) to your pc and in minimal adb and fastboot window type adb devices. If you see your phone connected then we can go further. type "adb reboot bootloader" (without "").
Your phone will reboot to Fastboot mode.
6. Now type "fastboot load recovery recovery.img" assuming you renamed it in earlier steps if not then type the exact name of the recovery file.
7. Your phone will boot up in TWRP recovery. Now go to install, click on "select image" and go to where you copied your recovery. Swipe to flash and reboot system. If it gives you option to reboot to recovery then do so. If not, then when you boot to MIUI, power off and press and hold vol+ button with power button and turnon the device. When you see the Mi logo, let go of the buttons you will enter TWRP again.
8. Now you will have to wipe your phone to do a "clean install". This will remove MIUI and your apps and data on internal storage. Go to wipe, tick the first 5 options and swipe to confirm flash.
9. Back to the main menu, go to Install, click on "install zip" if it shows and the select your plus or normal PE zip rom file. SWipe to flash and let it go through the process. it might some time be patient. after flashing is done twrp will prompt to install twrp app, deny it. and click on reboot system and you will see a google logo after Mi logo. It can take up to 12 mins to boot up fully so don't thin so fast that your phone is ruined. Have patience.
10. When it boots up then you can go throught the setup wizard and voila your rosy is now a pixel device. (jk):fingers-crossed:

Thank you so much for the guide. This is really helpful. I will try this out tomorrow.

I will be using the OrangeFox-R10.0-1-Stable-rosy [24-06-2019]. I hope this is the stable version.

Can you also help in understanding at what point and how do I have to install Magisk (which version?).
