Installed the ROM and I am very happy so far! After flashing ROM though, it failed to make a factory reset via stock recovery. Booted anyway. Now regarding root with magisk: is it still needed to boot via volume up to get root access (which means, no access to recovery, unless it is reflashed again)? Thanks.
Yeah, refer to the installation instructions below.

I can't get magisk to be detected by the magisk manager.
Any trick here?

There's no ramdisk in the boot image for this device. So, as per the Magisk Installation instruction one has to patch Magisk into the recovery image (I used the stock recovery image) and boot into recovery every time to have Magisk reliably.

I'm not 100% sure if the Magisk install zip does this for you or not. So to be safe I followed the instructions and just patched the image and flashed it in bootloader or the new unofficial TWRP.

Refer to the installation instructions here look at the EMUI 9 or higher section, read carefully.

I used v 7.2.0 and it's working fine

just installed this rom, noticed no supercharge/fast charge. is that a known limitation or just a bug?

It may not say supercharging but it's still charging rapidly.

Can't help with a bootloader unlock code, unless one of the three sites come back on and allow it.

Without a bootloader unlock your cannot install this

The will check that this evening. If j may, a couple of newbee questions on the ROM

1. Can we use fingerprint button for navigation

2. Any easy screenshot method like the knuckle one on stock ROM

3. Is there a link to a post where you have info on getting only a couple of percent power drain overnight.

Many thanks and promise I won't bombard this thread with questions.

The version I have no, but I would assume it'll be in future updates.. I use the swipe gestures

Swipe up from the bottom right for back
Swipe up from the bottom middle for home
Swipe up and hold from bottom middle for recents.

Vol down and power for me although there is a gesture variant..

Just depends on your apps really and how you treat your device. I've also installed nfs module from magisk for now.. will see how that goes..

DW about questions, if it's not common knowledge or been asked before.

Anyone been able to use document scan with the camera? Can't remember if the version from the treble forum worked or not but it was a feature i used to use.

Also not sure how hard it would be but scroll shot would be amazing to get ported in.

Having a little issue with drain overnight now, not sure what it is but i'm testing different things.

It's not BT, Wifi, 4G or NFC.

Will start deactivating apps tonight.

Other than that, this roms excellent.

Non EMUI Roms have a bug which makes a CPU not going to Deep Sleep after some heavy using of the device. The only way to make it work again is to restart the phone.
I even tried to greenify all the apps and even some system apps but it didn't give a result.

Ok so yea. We definitely need to look at the device being kept awake..

12 hours kept awake.

Doesn't drain much but it's something that needs to be addressed for sure.

I'm going to try this soon, does anybody have a guide?

Does it require stock recovery to be flashed then wipe after instal or before installing rom?

    Before installation
    ------------------------------

Make a back up of your data.

Download the ROM and Mind the G-Apps.

    Installation
    ------------------

    1. Copy the ROM and G-Apps to your ADB folder.

    2. Install TWRP via fastboot in bootloader, I used official 3.3.0.2

fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk "name of recovery"

    3. Boot to TWRP.

Fastboot reboot (pull cable and hold up straight away)

    4. Push both ROM and G-Apps to /tmp from the ADB folder.

ADB push "name of ROM" /tmp

ADB push "name of G-Apps" /tmp

    5. Perform a wipe in TWRP.

    6. Install ROM and G-Apps.

(Not sure if the below is necessary but I did it)

    7. Boot to bootloader and install stock recovery.

Fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk "name of stock recovery"

    8. Boot to stock recovery and wipe / data factory reset and wipe cache.

    Boot ROM.

    Rooting
    -------------

I used the latest magisk but magisk manager 7.2.0.

Install via TWRP, you'll need to reinstall TWRP again..

From this point OTA's will take care of further updates so no need to wipe again.

Ahoy there, good to see you.

    ROM is running, brilliantly.

    :good:
    2
Wouldn't that suggest that it would be the same in the stock ROM?

Anything we can do about that? It's a pain.

    @clumsy any thoughts..
You didn't tag me correctly. You missed the "~" before and after.

I have no thoughts. I haven't touched the kernel source in a while, got few personal projects I want to complete then I might get stuck in.

The source is a mess! My first build, using their config was unstable with random reboots. I really need to go through and fix warnings introduced by Huawei and take it from there. I feel the source they released isn't the source they use, they just done the bear minimum to satisfy the GPL and it's hard to prove otherwise.

So no changes in update script needed?

Sorry for the million questions but i have never hated a phone so much as this trying to flash roms an having to restore to stock etc.

I know this isn't developers problem but trying to save myself hours of the possibility of it going wrong yet again an trying to restore stock....

Appreciate everyone's help as this looks amazing, i despise EMUI.

No nothing like that mate. Just make sure you back up.. and click the thanks button for those who helped.

I had to edit the original because it was made for the Honor view 10 but you will be fine now as it's been made for the pro.

I need your help old friend :)

Yea I had this problem myself, I believe it was because I didn't use the stock recovery to wipe before the first boot.

    Did you follow instructions?

Your SD partition had encryption from a previous time.

If you need to return to stock then follow the guide in my sig.
