I have no contact with matiusuario the insurance uploads a new version these days the camera has no solution unless the developers bring the changes from the camera from android 10/11 to android 8.1 / 9 something that would be fine I would say that the best roms They are on android 9 and 8.1

I installed latest (upgraded from an older version of CodeZero 15.0).

Don't have fingerprint capability now. I suspect I am using the wrong version of driver.

Should I be using Nougat or Oreo? There is a download for Nougat but what about Oreo?

Android 7 and Android 8 ROMs need Stock Nougat as firmware base.
Android 9 and later ROMs need Stock Oreo.
If you switch from 7/8 to 9/+ and vice versa you will need to flash the proper stock version before in order to keep fingerprint functionality. TWRP flashable stock is ok and simple.

Hello,

Any help much appreciate, there's a few things:

1. What is the difference between the unofficial and official Lineage releases, particularly in terms of security?

2. I have installed and am using Lineage 18.1 but it seems slow and there are some issues so I'm looking at this version instead. I am however confused about advice on backing up the IMEI, flashing stock Oreo first (I didn't flash stock Oreo when I went from Lineage 14.1 to 18.1 and it's fully working). Could someone please point me to a definitive / correct set of instructions for flashing Lineage 15.1, 16.0 or 18.1 (I don't mean instructions for each, I just mean the correct procedure / information regarding moving to Oreo first and any precautionary backup required - I don't need to backup any data or files)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi.
1: Official releases are built by LineageOS' servers. They are (more) guaranteed to use official software sources in github.com/LineageOS. Unofficial releases are built by someone who knows how to compile android, who may or may not use only LineageOS sources. Those changes use to be for the better, but a bad people might be out there trying to do bad things with other people's phone. Or doing it by mistake.

2: A11 is known to be slower than A10-or-lower versions for our phone. A10 is a good choice as it works well, it has most features and the fewer bugs. A9 has bugs in camera mostly. A8 good choice to me, only some issues. A7 almost no bugs, but the least features as Android has evolved all this years.
About backing up Imei: DO IT, back up persist and EFS with TWRP 3.5.2 or newer. About data: if storage is encrypted then formatting data is mandatory to change ROM. That means your files will be lost if you don't move it elsewhere.
If you went from LOS 14.1 to 18.1 then probably you didn't have fingerprint scanner working in 14.1.
Android 7 and Android 8 ROMs need Stock Nougat as firmware base.
Android 9 and later ROMs need Stock Oreo (use latest ...19-4-2 for A11 ROMs).
If you switch from 7/8 to 9/+ and vice versa you will need to flash the proper stock version before in order to keep fingerprint functionality. TWRP flashable stock is quick, easy and the safest way to install stock. Download here.
Summary:
back up efs and persist.
(if encrypted) format data, type yes, reboot to recovery.
wipe dalvik, system, data and cache.
(if needed) install stock. wipe dalvik, system, data and cache.
install rom.
(if you want) install gapps, magisk or whatever.

This solved my camera issues with pictures not being stored.

I've tried different camera apps and did not expect, that this one would be different,
BUT after installing gcam 5.1 from here

https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/themes/perfect-gcam-5-1-moto-g5-cedric-t3890519
Using the link New GCam 5.1 Updated version (Put the Black level in 16!)

, i finally have a fully working phone again. Now this ROM is prefect. Everthing works. Multiple Pictures are stored. Video is stored. Battery usage is OK.
Thanks for your hint!!
Thanks for the link!
I successfully tested it on ArrowOS 9.0 Official rom!!

    About LineageOS

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9.0 (pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
