fresh install, wiped everything...
no mtp detected? it charges and everything seems to work fine but no option to pick mtp for data transfer and the entire menu is greyed out like it does not recognize that its pluged in to a computer.
odin still findsthe s5m in download mode so its not the cable or the device.
however the above twrp also does not have mtp for file transfer..

is this just a me issue with this device?
MTP works for me. When you connect it there shoul be a notification saying you are charging, where you can switch between the modes. You can check different cables, but it should work on this ROM. Might be a problem with your device, as it works in TWRP too, iirc.

Nice that it works well for you, here are some additions:
  • OpenGApps nano already include everything, that is not available in the PlayStore. So everything else can be installed afterwards.
  • As far as I know LED Notificaton isn't customizable
  • NFC works fine for me
Concerning NFC: I believe it works in some combination. Which Samsung model do you have? I was installing lineage-16.0-20210517-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte.zip on SM-G800F (original Samsung firmware was MMB29K.G800FXXU1CRB).
Actually, I see that NFC icon appears in pop-up menu which slides from the top, and I can enable/disable it. But after I start NFC Tools that app cannot read any NFC tag. OK, maybe I have some firmware failure, but maybe there is some log which I can check? Or run some additional verification?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe you post the screenshot of what do you see in Settings → USB Preferences when you connect USB to the computer? In my case File transfer menu item is available, so MTP works fine. Also, when I boot TWRP in recovery mode, I can transfer files to SD card, so that works as well. Have you disabled USB debugging (ADB)?

I got an SM-G800F too. don't no what the original firmware was. NFC Tool s works with my phone too. You could reflash a downloaded original firmware and reflash this rom, but idk any other ideas. Dunno which log to check.

anyone else having horrible battery life?
ex kernal battery app reports the rom is useing 4% an hour in sleep mode
ad 35% an hour with screen on.
its the sleep mode that is killing me
my s4 mini get 0.5% an hour in sleep mode and that is the worst of my
s4, s4mini, s5,s7, note2, note3,s7e phones on linage 16

i ordered a new battery to see if that is the issue. and im testing the s5mini on the latest 2021 ctk1 samsung 6.01 rom to see if its better

I suffered from battery drain on original Samsung OS, but from my short experience LinageOS is more efficient and that saves the battery. So I have the opposite experience. On your side I would test the real capacity of the battery, for example, I use SkyRC MC3000.

i am just reporting back on battery life.
i used titanium to disable, exchange services, camera, fdroid and privileged fdroid installer, and automatically by battery usage per dropped to %0.25 an hour from %3+ an hour before.

the camera worked hit or miss and i never used fdroid ( i use fdroid classic) so who really knows why the battery usage got so much better so fast.. but ill take it,

everything else i use in the rom seems to work.
(camera seems to work fine with simple camera)\

update 2
seems that battery use changes with every boot it runs for a day or 2 at 0.3% an hour to 2% an hour. and it is not the battery monitor as charging time appears consistent with how much battery has been used.

very strange indeed.
over all i am happy with the operation of the rom but i question the phone itself.

First of all thanks for the efforts to firmware maintainers!

I would like to share first my experience with installing LineageOS on my G800F phone. I would say that installation went smoothly and I am quite happy with the result.
  • No more annoying Samsung stock applications, which I didn't use. Now I have more internal memory for other uses!
  • Applications work faster and the phone consumes less battery.
  • Stock camera application works fine with both front and rear cameras.
  • gapps mini does not fit the partition, but micro edition worked just fine!
  • Android 9 instead of 6 is a pleasant addition.
However:
  • NFC seems not to work. I can enable it from top menu, but NFC Tools cannot detect any NFC tags (found first this post that it never worked :( but then later post that it is supposed to work).
  • LED indicator works, but is not customizable (or did I miss this setting?). On Samsung OS it was possible to make it blinking when a new message arrives (Settings → Display → LED indicator).
  • If somebody has an idea of application to substitute Screen Mirroring feature, that would be great. At the moment there is only possibility to cast audio to e.g. Google Home, but not possible to share the screen via Miracast to e.g. TV that supports this feature.
Thanks in advance!
Reagrding Screen Mirroring: DId you try out in Settings > Connections > Screen Sharing (loosley translated, as my phone is set to german) ? This might be the feature you want.

Minor observation:
On some reason the camera application org.lineageos.snap does not work properly: when it starts it shows a black screen. The application com.simplemobiletools.camera works just fine, although in some situations on small distances (~30cm) cannot stabilize the focus (keeps on changing it back and forth).

Do you guys use both cameras (org.lineageos.snap and com.simplemobiletools.camera) together or remove one? If used together, could this maybe lead to unwanted side effects? Personally, I better like the org.lineageos.snap camera, but it sometimes crashed, so I would also like to keep the other camery app as backup. Is this ok?

@spookcity138 Thank you so much for your updates! (y)

I'm relatively new to this topic but yesterday I flashed the S5 mini from my wife (it bricks itself by the stock rom). It works nice (I use it without GApps). Thank you for your work.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if i can use the phone as a "daly-driver". Is there anything to watch out for, or do you have any suggestions?

Kind regards

Congrats on flashing :D

I'm using this Custom ROM as daily driver for a year and a half now and it works fine for me. Nothing to watch for beside flashing the updates once a month to keep up with security fixes. You may check whether the camera apps work well enough for your usages.

Kind regards

Thanks. The simple camera app works just fine for me.
Some beginner questions:
  • Did you use GApps, or any Google-Account?
  • How are the contacts saved, on the device?
  • Are there any security issues? So I read the informations about this ROM at the beginning of this thread. I don't really understand the listed points (like the encryption did not work).
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards

Which older Magisk version did you use? Thank you!

And sorry that I have no idea why you experience these problems with attachments. Have you tried other apps (beyond email apps) that work with attachments? Do they have the same behaviour? Is it maybe because your attachments are stored on an external SD card on your device and there is some access problem with it? Have you tried to use attachments from your device's internal storage?
Using Magisk 23 with MODULE ExSDCard Write Access Enabler 5.0-8. So rw on ExSdCard mostly works.
Downloads in Browser work, I can choose where to save (and save!).
What happens: Mail attachment opens are shown with 2 symbols (file and dl), by tapping directly the dl-symbol it appears: "no capable application". By clicking the file-symbol the attachment gets downloaded, Root explorer opens the Internal Storage, Download folder, but no way to save- just no button or item at all. I wonder if there is any hidden permission or something - but no idea where to look exactly. K-Mail forum tells me to ask you- I read this forum nearly from the beginning, but it seems nowadays to be a weird bug in my device.
I started the flash procedure from scratch - now latest twrp installed - the described issues remained. So thank you for answering- I' ll keep on trying - and learning....

"..WLAN-button has to be clicked twice every time.."

This is happening to me also but only in recent versions.
I find WIFI disabled and need to turn it on more than once to make it stay.
    However, big kudos to spookcity.

    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
    * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
    * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM

    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

This is a LineageOS 16 ROM for the Exynos3470 based Samsung Galaxy S5 mini (G800F/G800M/G800Y)
DO NOT USE IT FOR G800H OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9.0 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Not Working
    • HWC (Hardware Composer)
    • Encryption - Trying to encrypt your device will stop suddenly after a few seconds and possibly cause a bootloop.
    • SELinux
    • Video recording doesn't work in all apps or with all camera applications

    How to install
Note You must use the latest version of TWRP
    • Download the latest build of LineageOS 16 or LineageOS 16-microG
    • Reboot into TWRP recovery (Press Volume-Up + Home + Power button)
    • Perform a full wipe (Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Data (inside Wipe -> Advanced Wipe)
    • Flash ROM
    • Optionally flash your choice of GApps (Must be for arm and for Android version 9.0)

    Notes about microG build
Includes everything that should be needed.
    • GmsCore
    • GsfProxy
    • FakeStore
    • MozillaNlpBackend
    • NominatimNlpBackend
    • OpenWeatherMapWeatherProvider
    • Mapsapi
    • Swype LIbs
First step to get this working is to go to settings -> apps & notifications -> advanced -> app permissions. Then click spoof package signature. Click the 3 dot menu on the right side. Click show system and allow both FakeStore and microG Services Core. From there everything can be setup within the microG settings app.

    Download
    Standard Build
MicroG build - Use the standard build if you do not know what this is.
