Thanks. The simple camera app works just fine for me.
Some beginner questions:
  • Did you use GApps, or any Google-Account?
  • How are the contacts saved, on the device?
  • Are there any security issues? So I read the informations about this ROM at the beginning of this thread. I don't really understand the listed points (like the encryption did not work).
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards
I do use microG with my Google-Account connected.
I save my contacts on a Nextcloud instance and sync them with CalDAV davx^5
Well there are security issues:
  • The security fixes of LineageOS are up to date, but the kernel is not fully up-to-date
  • As encryption is not working, you cannot use it. I didn't use encryption on the stock rom, so I'm not missing it.
For me, although the security situation is not perfect, I value keeping the device alive longer, more important then having a the best security possible.

Okay, I flashed the standard ROM.
A own cloud is something i like to do in some further steps.

So most of the time the fault is in front of the device. What can I do to prevent any problems from occurring in the first place?

Well, encryption doesnt work and SELinux is permissive
No encryption means that strangers, who have physical access to your device could read your data (e.g. through twrp) and permissive kernel means, that apps are less restricted by the system, thus dont trust every external apk source, because they could do some serious dammage.

After a little bit of testing and using the my new flashed S5 mini, I had a lot of battery consumption, even in standby. Is it normal or did I a big mistake in configuration?

Kind regards

mine was crazy horrible at first, and then it got better, now it changes from good to horrible at every reboot. and i made no serious changes to my configuration.
(even got a new battery to test that)
my s4 mini battery lasts 2x longer on android 9 then my s5 mini.

I observed that this ROM (incl. pico OpenGApps) runs very nicely on the S5 mini - until I registered my Google account. Since then I experience Wifi outages (i.e. repeated disconnects and reconnects to my home router) and an overall lag of the phone (with hardly any extra apps installed). I had done a clean flash. So currently I'm unsure whether these side effects are indeed related to adding my Google account or something else. Has anybody else experienced something similar?

Hi,
No sorry. These are unofficial builds,so no ota
now using your ROM for some time, very fine! I'm glad that I discovered your work. WLAN-button has to be clicked twice every time, and twrp can't be updated - guess that relates to the device.
Only one issue I cannot solve: cannot save attachments in Emails neither with standard app nor with k-9. The filemanager (root explorer) opens but the "save" button is missed - instead of "save" appears the "add"-button.
The folks here seem to use your ROM for long- so I hope for help! Thank you!

Thanks - will not touch this certain twrp anymore! meanwhile I uninstalled Magisk, re-installed ROM; installed an older Magisk: seemed to work. Great! The only issue I notice: WLAN won't start automatically. But after all: grateful to use it - fine work!
Which older Magisk version did you use? Thank you!

And sorry that I have no idea why you experience these problems with attachments. Have you tried other apps (beyond email apps) that work with attachments? Do they have the same behaviour? Is it maybe because your attachments are stored on an external SD card on your device and there is some access problem with it? Have you tried to use attachments from your device's internal storage?

Using Magisk 23 with MODULE ExSDCard Write Access Enabler 5.0-8. So rw on ExSdCard mostly works.
Downloads in Browser work, I can choose where to save (and save!).
What happens: Mail attachment opens are shown with 2 symbols (file and dl), by tapping directly the dl-symbol it appears: "no capable application". By clicking the file-symbol the attachment gets downloaded, Root explorer opens the Internal Storage, Download folder, but no way to save- just no button or item at all. I wonder if there is any hidden permission or something - but no idea where to look exactly. K-Mail forum tells me to ask you- I read this forum nearly from the beginning, but it seems nowadays to be a weird bug in my device.
I started the flash procedure from scratch - now latest twrp installed - the described issues remained. So thank you for answering- I' ll keep on trying - and learning....

"..WLAN-button has to be clicked twice every time.."

This is happening to me also but only in recent versions.
I find WIFI disabled and need to turn it on more than once to make it stay.
However, big kudos to spookcity.

Clean flash is (always) recommended, especially in case of switch to another version

    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

This is a LineageOS 16 ROM for the Exynos3470 based Samsung Galaxy S5 mini (G800F/G800M/G800Y)
DO NOT USE IT FOR G800H OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9.0 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Not Working
    • HWC (Hardware Composer)
    • Encryption - Trying to encrypt your device will stop suddenly after a few seconds and possibly cause a bootloop.
    • SELinux
    • Video recording doesn't work in all apps or with all camera applications

    How to install
Note You must use the latest version of TWRP
    • Download the latest build of LineageOS 16 or LineageOS 16-microG
    • Reboot into TWRP recovery (Press Volume-Up + Home + Power button)
    • Perform a full wipe (Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Data (inside Wipe -> Advanced Wipe)
    • Flash ROM
    • Optionally flash your choice of GApps (Must be for arm and for Android version 9.0)

    Notes about microG build
Includes everything that should be needed.

    • FakeStore
    • MozillaNlpBackend
    • NominatimNlpBackend
    • OpenWeatherMapWeatherProvider
    • Mapsapi
    • Swype LIbs
First step to get this working is to go to settings -> apps & notifications -> advanced -> app permissions. Then click spoof package signature. Click the 3 dot menu on the right side. Click show system and allow both FakeStore and microG Services Core. From there everything can be setup within the microG settings app.

    * Removed patches to keep LiveDisplay - So no more LiveDisplay (Lineage is going with Night Light instead)
    * Added "ro.config.small_battery" (This will trigger device-idle in 15

    Updated

Small changelog this month as I didn't have any time to really look into the remaining issues. Also, due to circumstances I was unable to perform a clean install for the first time. So I only dirty flashed it and it seems OK to me.

    * Latest security patches (July 2019)
    * Few kernel commits related to network (thanks to @rodman01)
    * Update GMSCore prebuilt to latest for the microG build
