I remember looking into this a little when you posted about it originally. I only found things related to Qualcomm when I was looking at Lineages code review. I am away from home until the end of the week, but I will try to look into this again when I am back and see if I can find anything out about it.
Thanks a lot!

One additional information regarding my original post.
I have mentioned that I was not able to create a second user. The last time I have tried it I was able to create a second user. May be the problem was related to my way to configure access restrictions for apps. I have to create the second user in a very early stage after installing LineageOS, where the apps are still allowed to access some data. I was not able to reproduce which restiction is responsible for that.

How to recover Samsung, and install LIneage, TWRP is already installed

Hello
My Samsung Galaxy does not boot any more.
My Intention was to install lineage 16 - but there was an miss match with the encryption.

So I did uninstall the system.

Now TWRP shows me (via backup) the following still existing files:

EFS 8 MB
Boot 10 MB
Cache 4 MB
System 29 MB
Data 0 MB

Meanwhile I have downloaded the original samsung firmware that contains:
boot.img, recovery.img, sboot.bin, system.img, cache.img; hidden.img and modem.bin.

Finally I have downloaded
lineage-16.0-20181117-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte.zip
and
MindTheGapps-9.0.0-arm64-20180809_192137.zip

Now I need some advice what to install to get the lineage on the phone

In TWRP wipe cache, dalvik, system, data and to be sure to remove the encryption also wipe internal storage.
From within TWRP install the lineage.zip.
Then download the proper Gapps.zip (it's ARM not ARM64) and also install it within TWRP.
That should cover it.

Thank you very much.
May I ask one thing?
The original system.img has a size of more than 2.1 GB
Just now my "system " has 29 MB
Do I have to install the original system.img before installing the lineage.zip?
Or is it not necessary to install the "old" system.img before I install the lineage.zip

In the original system.img contains MUCH more stuff (bloatware) from Samsung.
Just install the linage.zip. It has everythin you need have ;)

Thank you, i did as you wrote.
But Im am still having the decryption-problem.

unfortunately I have changed the encryption before updating. PW1(e. g. 1234) to PW2 (e.g. 5678)

Now the situation is like that:

Entering TWRP I have to insert the (later) PW2. (5678)

But after rebooting the system does not accept the (later) PW2 (5678) - only the earlier PW1 (1234)is accepted ----- followed by the Information that the PW1 is correct but the system is corrupted.

Then the system goes down.

According to this https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-3/how-to/removing-encryption-twrp-recovery-t3758814 it should have been gone by now.
(Sorry I'm not an expert on how encryption works and quite honestly seeing your problems with it I feel confirmed that it's a big load of bulls....)
There are also more "advanced" guides here on XDA. Just search for "twrp remove encryption" in google.

Hello and thank you

I fixed it.

What I did:
In TWRP:
1. Format every partition to ext2 and then back to ext4
2. Wipe to factory reset
3. Install lineage and gapps

Thank you

Encrypting ends up in a boot-loop with my Galaxy S5 MIni

Hello
Thank you to all for that great lineage-16.0--UNOFFICIAL-kminilte

Running a Samsung S5 Mini with
lineage-16.0--UNOFFICIAL-kminilte and trying to encrypt the phone ends up in a boot-loop.

The only way to bring this to an end is to reformat system and data via TWRP (see my previous post) and reinstalling l lineage-16.0-20190707-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte

Try it with the latest version. AFAIK there was a bug in the kernel that prevented the sdcard from working properly which should be fixed by now.

Which version did you try to install?
I know that there are still some problems with encryption with the S5 mini. As you can see some posts before spookcity138 is aware of this problem and will try to resolve it.

I'm not a "heavy" user but this ROM is the most efficient I know of. Currently on average my phone lasts 3 days (plus minus half a day). I don't use WLAN (WiFi) cause it's slower than my mobil data and I have enough included GB to last a month. Also in my experience so far the WLAN drains the battery much faster than anything else. I used BetterBatteryStats to scan my phone for power leaks and the WLAN was always on the top. Even after turning it off it used up some power. That way I found the "Search"-option which allows apps to use the WLAN even when it's turned off to get positioning data. Oh yeah, I also have my GPS turned off most of the time. Furthermore I don't need to be on the internet 24/7 so I only activate my mobile data when I need to check something.
I know that my usage pattern isn't a very common one, but for me a longer lasting battery is the top priority.

There is one small battery-wise issue though:
Sometimes, when I charge my phone, it gets into a "low charging mode" (I don't have better words to describe it) where it says that it needs one day or more for a full charge. But the solution for this is simply unplugging and replugging the cord. This is so common for my now that I do this everytime I charge my phone. Just in case.

Some final words to the previous 14.1 version I used before changing directly to 16.0:
I won't recommend it because it's missing an active maintainer. Don't get me wrong, @Panzerknakker does a great job in providing montly builds, but there is no one keeping the repos up to date. The last few builds I used had a slowly degrading performance so in the end I was down to one day of battery life. This was the reason for me to switch to 16.0. If you need some features which are currently not supported by this rom (SELinux, HWC, ...) you don't have a choice but stay with 14.1 (or stock ROM). Everyone else should at least give this rom a try and see for themselfes.

If you have installed a previous LineageOS 16.0 version you can just install the latest version as described in the first post. In TWRP only wipe cache and dalvik.
If you have installed LineageOS < 16.0 you have to make a clean install, because of possible strange side effects.

2. can I use the microG version for updating if I initially installed the plain one?
No, this would be like updating from a lower LineageOS version. You have to make a clean install.

Are you guys able to write on the external sdcard (latest build) ?
Every time I try to do so, the app which tried to get permissions, crashes. Also, if I try to access the sdcard from the storage settings, the settings will crash.

No issues here. No crashes and I'm able to write to my external SD card without issues. Perhaps a corrupt/bad sdcard?

Side note:
I'll get a new build up over the weekend if the latest security patches are merged.

Did you check the Settings:

Developer-Settings (nearly end of list) -> Allow all apps to write to external sd-card?
