I haven't re-enabled nfc yet on the standard build, but I'll just revert the reverted commit I suppose.

NFC is enabled on my microG build. I don't use this device often anymore, but that's the version I use when I do, so I'll try to keep an eye on battery life and such with it enabled.
great, I will also make my next build with enabled nfc.. I'm still using a non-original battery with more capacity but which lacks the nfc antenna or whatever it is.

Glad to hear you're still working on video recording. As always, BIG thanks for all of your work on the device!
I'm still trying to find a solution when I find time. I have some Ideas left, like fully implementing something like this:
jf-common

I already tired with a custom service for camera ("[email protected]") but maybe custom device , like [email protected] is also necessary, or I messed up ... :)

These props are probably required too:
Code:
debug.stagefright.omx_default_rank.sw-audio=1
   debug.stagefright.omx_default_rank=0
debug.stagefright.ccodec=0

Thank you very much for maintaining this device.

All the versions of your releases worked very fine except one peculiar issue.
Even with all apps closed, the device randomly starts to warm up use up the battery in no time. Only one or several restarts will fix the issue.
Has anybody else experienced this issue? What could I provide to help you get more insight?

Only thing I can think of that might cause this is if you try to record a video with the stock camera app (and a few others) it will fail, but the mediaserver will kill your battery pretty quickly as it continues to run. So a reboot or killing the mediaserver is the only solution there.

Nothing else I can really think of off hand, sorry

I had horrible battery drain because I forgot to re-install magisk after an upgrade and there were still some files left in boot or adb partition.
I suggest flashing the magisk-uninstaller.zip just to be sure...

Spot on for me I believe, I installed this ROM a few days ago and tried to record video and later experienced hugh battery drain (full to 0% in 1 1/2 hour). I then installed another ROM and have not had any issue with battery power.

Umm, use Magisk. This has been the best choice for root for some time now.

Mobil Connection Issues (perhaps others too)

Hi there,

I had some issues with my mobile connection lately and after some research I found out my System/Modem and Bootloader were out of Date (Version ended with ANL1 instead of CRG3, which is the actual version)

After an update my mobil-connection was found nearly immediate after entering the SIM-Card-Number.

Perhaps a firmware-update is a possible solution to some other problems posted here too.

1. Find out your Firmware/Modem Version
I used phone INFO Samsung from the google App store. It shows the infos and actual Stock ROM with the correct CSC-Number for your phone.
You can download it with the app (a user-account is needed) or find it in the net (I used the second link).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=de

https://www.samsungupdated.com/samsung-firmware/?s_page=device&id=SM-G800F&details=Galaxy+S5+Mini

2. Backup with TWRP, copied intern storage to my PC

3. Removed SIM and SD-Card

4. Flashed the latest Firmware found with correct CSC-Number with ODIN (3.12.4)

Reboot took some time, Android LOGO, LED flashing blue.

Turn off device

5. Flash TWRP with ODIN, switch off device, insert SD-Card, Boot to TWRP

6. TWRP: WIPE everything except SD-Card and Internal Storage

Install Lineage OS, GApps, MAGISK (you can add all of them)

Recover Internal Storage from PC

Restore TWRP Backup (Step 2)

Wipe Cache and Davlik, Switch off Device, insert SIM-Card

After boot everything was as it has been before, but my phone connected mobile I had an actual Modem with the newest Version Number (Phone Info App-check).

Too much steps.

You need only to update the Bootloader and Modem.

Download multiple Firmware
Boot into Download mode
Connect to Odin
Select Bootloader and Modem from the downloaded Firmware. / start Flash with Odin
Reboot your Phone into Download mode and flash Modem a second time ,
Reboot your phone and chech the Baseband Version ( Modem )
All done.

No fix for video recording with stock camera app. Footej works and someone recently posted another one that works. You can search the thread. Was recently.

As far as taking photos crashing messenger and Facebook. Yeah, not fully sure why other then the fact that our camera is just a bit of a mess on any Android version after 7

@Tureilu
Thanks for posting the tutorial. For clarification this should be considered only as a means for last resort.
If you only want to switch to the latest baseband this can be accomplished quite a bit faster:
1. Find out your Firmware/Modem Version
I used phone INFO Samsung from the google App store. It shows the infos and actual Stock ROM with the correct CSC-Number for your phone.
You can download it with the app (a user-account is needed) or find it in the net.
Baseband info can be found in "Settings->About phone->Android version"
The most recent baseband can be downloaded from https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5-mini/general/baseband-sm-g800f-t3354355
Don't get scared by the end-of-life notice. It's just because samsung stopped their support and therefore there won't be any updates anymore.

Just flash the baseband alone either from TWRP or using ODIN and you are good.

BUT
Your tutorial is not a complete waste of time, because sometimes you REALLY NEED to do all these tedious steps.
Some vendors include special scripts in their firmware packages which are sometims essential to have for lineage to work properly.
For instance (as far as I can remember): A couple of years ago some users had problems with their data connection. It was quite a mess until one member of the original modding team found out that the filesystem of the baseband image changed at some point. So everyone who switched from the latest Stock-ROM to Cyanogenmod had no problems whatsoever but all others who switched from an earlier Stock-ROM had this particular problem because in the vendor firmware packages this change was included for quite some time.

Which Footej Camera does work? Normal or 2? And which version?
I'm gonna have to let someone else answer this as I've not really used my mini in sometime. I just know some months ago some version of footej was working OK. There has also been a post recently about another camera app that works. Do a search and you'll find it. Good luck!

My guess would have been too, that it is camera related. I think the issue mainly came when starting Web-Whatsapp -> here you use the camera to read the QR-Code.
Issue certainly still persists from time to time with the most current build.

I guess the best working cam was found by @Tuxman81:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82405227&postcount=695

Simple-Camera from F-Droid-Store

No freezes, Video Record Working...

Tried OpenCamera and Footej. They have more functions but video recording is hardly possible and they froze many times, so I had to restart the phone to make them work again.
Thank you. If I remember I will add this info to the main post next time I updated the ROM.
