The DT2W is still a little temperamental, but also I've got another bug. I keep getting a settings notifications asking me to connect to WiFi to finish setting up the phone, and whenever I do it, it disappears for a little while then comes back.

I see thank you. I never really use magisk. Can I install it as is or do I need to wipe anything?

I installed this kernel, I don't use d2tw but battery became much better.

My install steps:
- Reboot recovery
- Wipe cache and dalvik/art cache. If you flash something it's recommended to wipe both caches. You don't loose any data by wiping caches
- Flash kernel zip
- Reboot recovery
- Flash magisk v20 from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 select latest stable
- Reboot system

I was able to update to the latest build without any wiping or formatting using the following method:

Flash latest ROM, flash gapps (I used stock), boot system.
Reboot recovery.
Flash MIUI camera, flash Magisk 20, boot system.

The critical step was to boot to system before flashing Magisk, otherwise RR won't start.

Thanks @Constrabus, awesome work.

You did mention MIUI camera?, Is that stock cam port for custom roms? Can you upload it please!

I have problem install lastest build 20190928, following these steps:
format data(yes) - reboot twrp - wipe cache, sytem, data - flash firmware (tried 9.6.20 both china and global, 10.3.2.0 both china and global) - flash RR - flash gapps 20190522

Bootloop on MI logo
Coming from MIUI global developer 9.6.27.

Any idea?

Same thing is happening to me, but to be honest, this is the first custom rom I flashed, and before this I couldn't even boot the stock ROM anymore, loop on MI logo once and then back to TWRP for me... so now I'm ROM-less :D

EDIT: This also happens with the last version before the latest. Also tested without flashing Magisk the first time, as per https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80751039&postcount=228

SOLUTION
by scavenging around I applied this method: downloaded and flashed latest xiaomi.eu ROM, let it boot and then back to twrp I wiped caches+system+data, then flashed 9.2.15 firmware from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397963751 then flashed 10.3.3.0 firmware from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/firmware/perseus/, then flashed latest RR+ opengapps + magisk, booted fine, then back to twrp flashed xent kernel because you never know. Tomorrow will be the fun day where I am supposed to actually configure this damned phone and make it my daily driver... if only my Mix1 didn't take that bad fall...

I managed to get it boot too, but by install EU 10.3.2.0, let it boot, reboot twrp, factory reset ( wipe cache, dalvik cache, data), install rom & gapps, boot up, reboot twrp, install magisk.

I did not format data and wipe system and its work.

It's the Grotesque Walking Stick version. However, it caused problems on this build. I subsequently discovered that it won't start, and it also breaks the other two camera apps (LOS & Google). It worked fine on the previous build, and I'm wondering if it's because I didn't wipe.

+1. The critical step was to boot the rom first without Magisk, then go back to recovery & flash Magisk.

It's not the phone, it's the Project Treble configuration. Flashing on any phone is now way more complicated than it used to be. My observation is that the firmware version isn't important with regard to booting (with the exception of the DTBO partition), although it may affect features once running. However, a mis-matched vendor image can cause a bootloop at the bootloader phase (which shouldn't happen now it's bundled in the rom zip), and Magisk can cause a bootloop at the rom booting phase if you don't boot the rom without it first. The other big flashing/booting issue is encryption. Wiping data appears to remove the encryption key, so you end up having to format data every time you wipe (I still have some uncertainty around this as I'm pretty sure I managed to wipe at one point without having to format data again).

So currently there is no way to use the tele camera with any apps? I can't change to the upper camera with gcam, nor with the builtin camera app, anxcamera isnt starting for me too.

The tele camera? Mine switches between narrow and wide in the LOS app with the picture size setting. I haven't tried again now I've updated to Magisk 20.1, I don't know whether it's a Magisk or a rom problem.

    New build is up.

Vendor is built into the zip now, so install process is much simpler.
No longer need to pre-flash MIUI or EU or anything.
Just flash the zip and boot.

    Changelog coming soon.
There are many improvements in this build and all sensors should be working.
No more messing with vendor versions to get proximity working, etc.

After this, I will do one more build with a few more improvements, then I will start focusing on 10.
Might stay with RR or switch to POSP, we'll see.
