Thank you for your test, I will change some device settings. They are all hi3660, but still have some differences. Later (but not today) I will upload a P10 version for test. Please forgive me for not having much time on this.
That's not a problem, do it whenever you see fit. I'm a dad, have a work and I'm not free all the time so i completely understand when others don't have time for things.

I'm grateful either way for your work. ❤

I don't have a P10 phone, so i can't test it if I build a version for P10. But if you want, I can do something without promise.
One thing you can add for the P10 which corrects the touch issue - somewhere in /system/etc/init:

----------
# Prevent aptouch_daemon from running
service aptouch /system/bin/true
disabled
oneshot
----------

It looks like /vendor/bin/aptouch_daemon eats some of the touch events originating on the outer edges of the display - that snippet overrides the vendor service of the same name so it doesn't run; I've had no other effects from that being disabled on either P10 or Mate 9.

Is there a way to go back to stock?

Hi guys,

xlagjn thanks for your work, unfortunately, I was not able to boot this ROM, is like the system tries to boot for minutes, but never gets past the RR logo. Is there a way to go back to stock emui?

Thanks

Just flash stock SYSTEM.IMG. Extract it from UPDATE.APP.
I tried to flash the system.img but still now it's not even booting emui. Is there a way of debugging why is not booting in my Mate 9? How do I get a log? I have an HMA-L29C636. Or how can flash the oficial EMUI package again? From oreo to Pie I did it with Hrupdate, but now is not working on Pie, it gives me an error on the recovery. Thanks for your help and your work.

This ROM only change the system partition, so just flash the stock system.img and recovery_ramdisk.img then do a factory reset in your stock recovery. I don't know if Hrupdate is suitable for emui 9 vendors.

Nope. It works to get there, but breaks after you're there.

An EMUI 8 based nocheck will still work, but don't use hwota8 (it, like hwota7, uses partition numbers instead of names, and will clobber partitions if the numbering changed, which it did between EMUI 8 and 9.)

Hi, thanks for the insight, can you explain to me the process of how to use the EMUI Based nocheck recovery. I got it from the hwota zip and I'm able to flash it, but how do I start an update, should I place the update.zip and the update_full_MHA-L29_hw_spcseas.zip (or update_all_hw.zip) in the root folder?

Thanks for your help!

Put the zip files in /data/update.
In /cache/recovery/command, put:
--update_package=/data/update/update.zip
--update_package=/data/update/update_full_MHA-L29_hw_spcseas.zip

(Change the path in the lines above if you named them differently, of course.)

Flash the nocheck to recovery_ramdisk and boot to recovery.

I've built a version for p10, you can get it https://sourceforge.net/projects/xlagjn-rr/files/VTR/
Hi,
I flashed build from link, it booted fine, twrp from OP booted fine but ROM still have some problems.
It is way more fluid than MATE build i flashed few days ago, touch screen now works flawlessly, opengapps didn't want to install but MindTheGapps worked just fine, fingerprint could not be set (i deleted all registered fingerprints on emui before i flashed RR and i did factory reset from stock recovery then flashed twrp, wiped cache, dalvik, system and data partitions before flash.) Camera working fine when taking pictures but freezes when trying to shoot video.

Thats all i could test in such litle time i had.

I attached "full bugreport" taken from developer options.

Thank you for your time and work! <3

EDIT: I forgot most important thing, internal storage cannot be seen by any file manager, folders and files have weird names so i guess it is encryption thing.

Thank you for your help, I was not able to recover my phone by extracting all the IMG from the update.app, it seems the kernel got corrupted somehow after trying to boot this Rom.

I tried the method you mentioned, but when I restarted the phone to the nocheck recovery, nothing happened, and I was sure the command file was on /data/recovery with the correct commands and the files were on the /data/update/HWOTA folder.

It seems even the nochech erecovery is not working anymore in Pie.

Anyway, again thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!.

/cache/recovery/command, not /data/recovery/command. If you placed the zip files into /data/update/HWOTA, then the contents of /cache/recovery/command need to reflect that, by changing the /data/update/... to /data/update/HWOTA/... , as well.

Yep, TWRP from OP has problem with data dencrypt, so do not use it to format or wipe data partition. Just wipe system cache and dalvik is ok. Do a factory reset by stock recovery (this can format the data partition ) can solve the encryption problem, at least on my mate 9.

Yeah, that makes sense. Im old school flasher so when im in twrp, finger goes by himself to data, system, dalvik and cache partitions wipe. ?

Does back up and restore in TWRP working now? right now i cant see some easy solution if i bricked/bootlooped my phone.

thanks.
I really doubt that backup/restore will ever work for Huawei devices. And easiest solution to go back to stock is to flash system.img with fastboot because rom only modifies system partition.

So if you get bootloop/brick after flashing this rom, just flash stock recovery and stock system.img and do a factory reset from stock recovery and your device is going to boot.

Recovery_ramdisk.img and system.img can be extracted from update.app of your current stock build.
