Hi
Is this Rom good like or better as the Stock Rom? I'm not unhappy with Emui 9 but I have the DJI Osmo 2 and the App is recording Hyperlaps only with 720p. I know - it's primary a DJI Issue, but maybe another Rom works better...
And what is with the Battery Drain. Befor my Mate 7 I have used custom Roms on my Samsung and HTC Smartphones but there was often a Battery Drain issue here ...

And how is the Image Quality ... The Stock Camera App is great.

Are there other Issues?

These builds require EMUI 9 firmware, they will not boot on EMUI 8 devices.
Download the latest build and gapps
Reboot to recovery
Flash the latest build and gapps
Perform a factory reset by the stock recovery.
Reboot
On what partition do I need to flash your recovery ?

Edit:
Nevermind, found it out on my own. (recovery_ramdisk)
So far that ROM looks really awesome !

Wow. Just Wow!
Haven't had that many customization options since the 2.3.x custom roms. Amazing work !

@cortex69
1. I flashed the TWRP from the start post (fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img)
2. I flashed the ROM in TWRP.
3. I used the following script from @Tecalote to restore the stock recovery: Switch-TWRP-to-EMUI-Recovery.zip (flashed it via twrp).
4. I did a factory reset in the stock recovery.

After that, it booted successfully (before the stock-recovery-factory-reset I had a bootloop, too).

I don't know which twrp and system do you use.
That seems your phone has different partitions with the twrp. Try another twrp maybe help. Or try to do a factory reset by stock recovery before flashing twrp, that will fix some partition errors.

We have to have Emui 9 first right? If so did you manually install it or was it an ota update? I have L29 c567 so I don't think it's available for my phone. I currently have Oreo with Emui 8.

According to the OP we need Android + EMUI 9.
I unrooted my rooted stock rom (Android 8) (uninstalled magisk via the magisk-app) installed a clean copy of the stock rom within the Huawei Erecovery (which dowloads a full copy of your currently installed (stock)-ROM and replaces everything existing with it) and got the Pie Update via OTA.
My Region is Europe (C432 afaik).

Ok thank you. I have a rooted custom rom so maybe I need to rebrand and dowload a stock rom that is region c432 then unroot and do your steps. I wonder if being in the USA but with a europe branded phone will still do the OTA. That's probably a dumb question =/. When you say "Huawei Erecovery" you mean using the "system update" search under the "about phone" in the system menu right?

Was the stock PIE just so so and this custom rom is way better? Is battery life similar? Sorry it's probably mentioned somewhere in this thread already. Thanks

I can't tell you if the rebranding would work, I wouldn't try it though.

No, I mean the erecovery mode, You get into it if you connect your device to any power source (PC, Charger, etc.) while holding down the volume Up key. Afaik that only works if you still have the stock recovery installed, not twrp.
In that menu there is an option to redownload the currently installed firmware completely and replace everything installed before. (modifications like SU or Magisk)

I don't really know, how the battery life / overall experience is, compared to stock 9.0, because I haven't used it longer than approx. 5 minutes with stock Android 9.0 before flashing the custom rom.
Commpared to Android 8.0 the battery life seams to be similar, I didn't notice a big difference. Where I do notice a big difference, is (as I wrote above) in customizabillity (if that is a real word :D ).

Read the thread below. I was searching around and found an article that said how to install PIE beta way back in January so I used the same method to install the current PIE 9.0.1.191c432. So I was able to go from Oreo and rebrand at the same time. Read and you'll see the link to download "flashy" which is the tool. You download the 2 update files needed and put them in the unzipped tool in the folder called "zips here" and connect your phone to the laptop and run the bat file inside the flashy folder and it walks you through flashing PIE. I'm not sure if I will get the OTA 9.1 but I'm sure there are a few ways to update to that when that file becomes available. Zentico encouraged me to do it so I took the plunge and it worked. He was able to update also. I also found a guy who successfully used the tool to update his Mate 10 and another updated his P20 pro. I think the tool only works for PIE 9.01 since it's written to use 2 files.

Same issue as aureliolage here: errors related to partition information trying to flash the ROM. I blame the version of EMUI, mine is not 9.0 but 9.1 (9.1.0.252) on MHA-L29. Even flashing Magisk freezes several applications and the only way to return to normal is by reinstalling the stock firmware via stock recovery.

Please let me know how can I help.
