Hi All,
I'm owner of MI9 since a week. I'm trying to get used to it, but it seems I won't became a fan of MIUI.
I've installed Nova Launcher Prime and do the screen very close to the Stock Android, but there are still a few things that annoy me:
1. Not working notification (work around - additional app which need to run all time - Nots in Norch)
2. No way to customize AOD display - For me the Motorola approach here is the best. AOD is activate only on moving the phone. It is detecting moving when walking so no false, so their detection is the best. I see Xiaomi implement it, like on Samsung AOD display is ON all the day if there are a lot of LUXs, if you put your phone under something AOD is going sleep.
3. Notification on AOD also not working for a lot of applicatoins
4. Unnecessary Apps - (work around uninstalling with Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tool)
5. Bad default Phone / messaging / calendar / clock apps (Some of them you can change)
6. No way to disable the Chinese network scanning TD-SCDMA
7. Poor battery results in compare to my old device - Moto Z2 Play.
8. No way to configure Lock Screen to use Google Wallpaper app (there are some work arounds but they work only till next reboot)
May be there more issues you've found, that's why I'm here for advice.
Are these issues are fixed in Pixel Experience ROM? What is your experience here?
Some page above I read a discussion between members, that the maintainer will not support this ROM anymore. Are we going to receive Android 10 Pixel ROM?
As we will receive Android 10 / MIUI 11 ROM via OTA soon, what are your advice - to unlock and flash with the ROM on the #1 post or to wait what will be fixed in MIUI 11.
I afraid that if we lost support of this ROM it is not a good option for me to flash the phone now. Currently the Nova Launcher, GCam, Google Phone app and etc customization on top of the MIUI 10, working fine.
Sorry for the long post and thank you for your comments in advance.
Your advice here really appreciated.

Android Q AOSP ROMs are being worked on for the Mi9, but they're not quite ready yet.
I'd suggest sticking with MIUI for a few more weeks until ROMs are ready.

In case you didn't know, Xiaomi has this stupid bootloader unlock timer on Xiaomi phones, so if you want to unlock the bootloader, you have to wait between 7 and 14 days from when the unlock request is submitted.

So you can go ahead and submit the request now, and then unlock the bootloader once ROMs are ready so that you don't have to wait then.

You cant come here to complain, ask things and say moto this and moto that, the developers work hard to give us this rom for free
This rom is good for daily use official or not, if you want android Q stick with miui and go make requests to xiaomi :)

Hi MeltdownSpectre,
Thank you very much for your points here. I know regarding the Xiaomi unlocking process and will submit my devices these days.
Meanwhile markakash just create a new threat to informing us that he is ready with the first version of Android 10, so we have very good news here.
I'm just trying to find answers of the issues mentioned above and wondering are they exist on the custom ROM.

Hi beastbrain,
Thank you for letting me known what are the principles of open source software and communities these days. I believe that have some basic knowledge regarding the processes, but every time is good to compare with another point of view.
I'm not here to complain someone from who takes their personal time to deliver these custom ROMs, but to ask what is the community experience regarding the issues which annoying me. And this is the fundamental of the community - share experience. So if you have some comments here you will help me, and may be another guys who is reading the treat. ;)

As you can see in the forum, this is the most popular custom rom with over 200 pages of comments,
when someone asks the "are we going to receive that" question it sounds like an expectation to me,

if you read the thread the rom is good for daily use, other than that I think that you are a bit confused:
in my opinion you can't compare locked miui rom with custom roms where you have more freedom and can change most of the things you don't like, the difference is that you to spend your own time to search for mods and solutions to your problem rather than waiting from xiaomi to push new update,

I think by being in this forum you already know the answer that probably you should flash-root your phone and take control over it, then if you like miui interface you can test .eu roms where they already have released android Q,
With magisk, xposed, titanium etc you can customize your phone to what you like,
Then if it doesn't work for you, you can try all these aosp based roms with PE and syberia maybe being the most stable of them.

I hope this helps..

Dude post #3 doesn't answer my question, it just says that we should flash the vendor file while the latest post says that the vendor file is no longer needed to be flashed as its already included. Please someone that can help by posting clear steps on installation Thanks?

Could you help me please?

I had the same issue:

I just updated from latest official PE to plus,
just flashing vbmeta didn't work for me,
I tried to flash fw+vendor 9.6.13 ( last time I flashed 9.8.1) and then PE plus and it worked without having to lose any data etc
also it fixed my problem with layout buttons being from miui and not PE
I hope this helps other people too :)

So i need to flash vbmeta then vendor 9.6.13 then pe+
Is that correct?

Well, some people just flashed vbmeta.img but it didn't work for me as phone was stuck at G loading screen, after I flashed vbmeta I dirty flashed 9.6.13 and then PE+ phone booted fine, I only cleared cache and dalvik so I didn't even lose data etc..
You can try as 1st step to flash vbmeta.img and see if phone boots, then try the rest

So has anyone figured out how to use fingerprint when the phone is locked/turned off, without AOD on (as the static image will cause burn-in)? And without workarounds with dt2w?

Or perhaps it's possible to remove static image (fingerprint location) from AOD?

You could try a third party app

Finally got my phone set up with this ROM and looking through the thread there's lots of talk of tap to wake not working, then a post that it was fixed but that doesn't seem to be working; that and notification dots don't work? Using version PE + 2019/09/27

He is also busy with a different ROM, PanAndroid ROM. So he is definitely a busy guy. But with leaving it unfinished doesn't make it a proper developer ;)
He can better stick with one ROM even the PE rom is not finished, and improve that one and if it is really working, he can slowly do different ROMS, adding security patches etc.

For me it comes more like he needs to be seen. But OK, i am stick again with the .eu ROM for now. Is the most stable / battery less drain ROM i have now.
MIUI can be terrible but still. Knowing it will fix issues by the week ;) mostly.
I never abandoned PE, I am waiting for August patch to be merged. Whats the use of sending weekly builds if nothing major has been fixed or added. Till now I have fixed the following issues:
    - NFC is back
    - Safetynet is fixed
    - Phone randomly dying is fixed.
The only "issue" left now is enforcing the kernel for GPay stuff. Now you tell how is that abandoning the rom? Also, I have a personal life. I m a full time student and need to study too:D. So, please keep patience. If there hasn't been update for 3 weeks doesn't mean its dead. Have some patience. Fixing issue isn't easy, takes time and lot of effort. I do this in my free time, I don't get paid to do it.
Update will be out once August patch is merged in source.

    Regards,
    Akash
