I tried booting into recovery, formatting system, cache and dalvik but not data, install ROM and MindtheGapps. Whatsapp voice recording still doesn't work.

Also tried disabling Google Assistant with no effect on the issue.

In that case, flash DerpFest instead

Well, i investigated by myself, if you have random wifi disconnections with this rom or any other rom for this device, flash OEM partition and for some reason, the problem will get solved.

In my case, rom wifi and other problems started when i updated Magisk from app, never do it.

Important Notes:

1. This build passes Safetynet and shows "Device is Certified" in Play Store. If Safetynet doesn't work in future, use "MagiskHide Props Config" module.
2. Avoid using any custom tweaks or playing with kernel settings. It will only make device more unstable, especially arm64 version.
3. Some apps like Yono SBI, Yono SBI Lite, etc still doesn't work or detect root. Even Magisk Hide won't help, due to the security implemented into the apps.
4. On arm version some Games/Apps like Real Racing 3, Brawl Stars, Anydesk etc crash.
5. WhatsApp Voice Message is broken.

I appears Google has stopped making security updates for Pie. Unless a developer wants to backport updates from Q there won't be any more. Here is the Feb security bump string and it does not contain any for Pie.

I think i now know what's the cause of random wifi disconnections on some Moto G4/G4 Plus models. It's LoonyKernel's fault

Used r2 Stock Oreo version and i'm getting constant wifi disconnections, on oreo custom roms like LineageOS 15.1 too and only got wifi connection for 10 seconds then i couldn't connect to wifi anymore until i changed kernel again, r3 version of Stock Oreo doesn't let me enable wifi anymore

I want to ask. Is there an alternate kernel for this rom? i read many posts ago that could use Pixel Experience one, but i don't know, also, i want to use another kernel to check if it's LoonyKernel's fault too for my device variation (Moto G4 xt1621)

Note: it doesn't happen for every Moto G4/G4 Plus variations, but it could be useful to have options of other kernels

Edit: i don't know what i did move when i changed volume and power buttons for myself but now wifi random disconnections stopped for now

Best rom ive tested for the G4. Hands Down. No competition. feels just as stable as stock rom but faster, 64 bit support, and up to date. Not asking for eta, but is this rom still supported? i cant find any other roms for the G4 that are still supported with recent security updates. i realize that google isn't releasing security string updates for pie anymore but patches would be great! EDIT: unable to find a single bug. Phenomenal job!

Gentlemen....im loving this rom..but..none of the gapps i installed will sign in...keeps giving the error "unable to communicate google servers". Please help.

Edit: Found it...flash bitgapps if opengapps doesn't work.

Is Google Play Services installed and running? If yes try removing your Google account, clear cache and storage for both Play Store and Play Services, reboot and add the account again. If rooted with Magisk don't hide/deny Play Services.

Tried that... Didn't work. I faced this issue in alot of roms.. I don't get it why..i thought it must be a common issue but it doesn't seems to be the case here.

I figured it out...in every rom where opengapps didn't worked...BitGApps did....bitgapps is the solution.
For the record...i did tried nikgapps and others too...but only bitgapps signed in and synced perfectly.

Something curious is that OpenGApps are kinda bugged, generally, the solution is to install an older OpenGApps version but alternatives work better, in my case, i need to use MindTheGApps on LineageOS 16 if i want Google App on system, with OpenGApps, if i add Google App to system, it bootloops.

Also, i want to share with you an solution in case Setup Wizard doesn't load, remove Sim Card, open it again and when you have to add an account, you can add Sim Card without problems

Interesting how gapps results vary for people. Maybe it depends on where you live or something like that because opengapps pico arm64 works perfectly for me.

I think that too, but it varies too depending on Moto G4/Plus version and on the ROM in some cases, in my case (Moto G4 xt1621), OpenGApps works good for me, but i have to install an version from months ago because of some bugs, especially since i have to wait until Play Store updates itself to see if there are updates for apps

I have a USA Consumer Cellular unlocked standard g4 2/16G (not sure on the model number, i know i should) never had anything resembling a problem with gapps. Ive only had one bootloop with a custom rom because i flashed the wrong patched magisk boot image and that was a stupid mistake on my part. Must be a bootloader or driver thing on the other models.

For people having WhatsApp voice note problems. Do you use Google App? if you use it and you have problems, try removing Google app microphone permission or uninstall the app. Let me know if this helps, also, check if you have Microphone permission for WhatsApp, for me, it never asked for that permission when i was using WhatsApp on this rom

Edit: i found those build.prop settings on an microphone problem post for custom ROMs, you can try first two and/or any of the last two ones
