hahaha, i remember the same problem, when 15.1 dropped :D first try to compile failed - ah, one or two days more to wait, i am fine with that ;D

EDIT: On that specific site, where we can see the compile failure, it shows "timeout - 2days from project". don't know if that is correct, but maybe we get our build on tuesday then.
if that does not mean anything, maybe today. let us wait and do mike his magic thing- and we will see when it finally arrives ;D

There's one thing that I don't understand:
I have official LOS 15.1, installed on february for the first time, and I was coming from official Lenovo stock. Now "diskinfo" app says that my "Data" (I don't see "userdata") is f2fs; System partition is ext4. But the system info says that my actual kernel is:
3.18.115-lineageos-g23d05f4.
So, the question:
is this f2fs userdata partition already the good one (Mike said that in order to work with kernel 3.18 - and it's already in there - the f2fs must be upgraded), or do I need to follow the second post of Mike and upgrade it?
Of course I wish to keep all my existing data with LOS 16.
Sorry for that. Thanks for helping!

You will have to upgrade for sure, if this is the first time you are going to use a custom ROM.

yes you will need to upgrade. as your data (read userdata) is stock f2fs and hence you need to re-format the userdata partition to the new f2fs version.
as mike stated. follow his guide if you want to keep your data.

its not just about the kernel version but the actual f2fs version in the kernel and the mkfs.f2fs version in TWRP recovery. (which is the utility that formats the userdata partition).
the kernel doesn't format the partition the utility does but the f2fs code in the kernel needs to "understand" the new format that mkfs.f2fs provided.

or short version quote by mike: They basically ****ed support for partitions formatted on older f2fs versions

I have now LOS 15.1 and f2fs userdata (before I had stock ROM). So LOS 16 will not be my first custom ROM, that was pointing me to think that my actual f2fs is already good for LOS 16.
But I suppose to be wrong, isnt'it?
Thanks for your great patient and greater work!
