If that is the case it seems like i'm doing something wrong. I have that problem only when I install magisk (i'm using the flashable zip from Here) and it goes away if I run the magisk uninstaller.
I flashed the zip from TWRP.

Mind that I have the NO RPMB problem described here so when I flash magisk I have a locked bootloader (with twrp installed), the magisk installation reports no error and the cell phone boots just fine though.
As soon as I have time i'll try to flash magisk after unlocking the bootloader.

I used the 17.1 stable magisk from here https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v17.1/Magisk-v17.1.zip and that worked for me, flashing with twrp.

Yep, I did it eventually. I had to extract the boot.img from the rom zip, flash it using magiskManager and then flash the patched img to the device via fastboot.
All this mess since I could not boot into TWRP with an unlocked bootloader because of the NO RMPB problem.

I could not restore my backup though

Thanks

so for that last two days, I've done an experiment about this since I also want to update my kernel to Sphinx v3.4. Here are the list of what I did and the results
-Flashing new kernel on top of old kernel: I got the black screen after unlocking the lockscreen and It keeps showing the lockscreen.
-Flashing new kernel with magisk on top of old kernel, then install magisk: This doesn't work either. What happened is the same as above
-Flashing old kernel then flash magisk and then flash new kernel: It's basically the same as the 2nd one but who cares LOL
-Uninstalling magisk then flash new kernel, reboot then flash magisk installer after boot: Just my plan since I'm trying to backup my magisk modules before doing this. I have a bunch of modules installed, some are exclusives so I can't just throw them all away.
-How I solved the problem: flash the original kernel then flash magisk.
And I about that NO RMPB or whatever, did you try to relock the BL then unlock it again. I didn't even unlocked it yet, my N5X just has something called user setable root or custom set of root that I've read somewhere on source.android.com

how did you managed to get Sphinx v3.4 installed? I tried many different ways but it just gives me a black screen after unlocking on boot.

You must install it only on original boot of your rom. I'm currently on Sphinx 3.4 non-OC, in piex rom (android 9).
This is two version of this kernel. Overclock verison (1,7-2.1 ghz) and non-OC (stock frequencies).
Try non-oc version :)

Can that be related to the lack of support of hardware encryption? I'm rooted with magisk. and my phone is not encrypted.
What would happen if I enabled encryption?
Is there a way to bypass that? I reallly would like to use that app.

Prefomance on the 5x ?.

Does 9 run faster than 8.1 on a Nexus 5x? I don’t want to upgrade if my nexus doesn’t see any performance improvement, I know it will never work the way it did when new google makes sure each update slows the phone down until you want to smash the phone! My wife’s new Moto X 4 dances circles around my Nexus:(

Code?

Hello community.

I have a question about Flash from the Nexus 5x to Android Pie.

I have flashed the nexus with the ROM NexusPieX_bullhead-OFFICIAL-v1.0oct-20181101.zip

That worked, but after the start drawing a pattern is required.

What kind of pattern must be drawn there?
Did not find anything for this.

Thanks, Rolf

did you get rid off the old search bar?

Snapchat and Camera NX work with this current version, you just have to use the Sphinx kernel 3.1.
edit: the only problem i have is that I see the old Google search bar at the top of the home screen, which I can't remove.

hi!
did you resolve the problem of the old search bar?

I just noticed no more updates for the Nexus 5x from Google. How is 9.0 running for everyone? Anything not working as it should?

it asks for a passwork when starting.... anyone knows?

The answer may be 4 posts back from yours mate, if you come across bugs etc it can be quicker to search within the thread for the issue and you'll usually find an answer or workaround there.
