Greetings. This ROM is calling for the vendor image "OPM2.171026.006.H1" which is a generic image and is for Android 8.1.0 and is from July of 2018. That's cool. However... also for Android 8.1.0 and from July of 2018 there is the "OPM4.171019.021.R1" release/vendor image specifically for T-Mobile. I use T-Mobile, postpaid. So that peaked my interest. I haven't found concrete answers on what makes the T-Mobile build different, I compared the md5 sum's of both files and system.img / modem.img / vendor.img have different md5's, so even though they're both Android 8.1.0 and July of 2018, there are differences.

So I flashed the T-Mobile OPM4.171019.021.R1 vendor and modem image files, figuring that's where the majority of the changes probably are, making it work better with T-Mobile's LTE bands or whatever. Now when the ROM boots up I get a vendor mismatch error message, naturally, however, after selecting OK everything appears to be working just fine. But is there a potential incompatibility there, lurking in the shadows...

I don't know if I should:
- run the OPM2.171026.006.H1 vendor.img and modem.img files (generic vendor / generic modem)
- Or if I should run the OPM2.171026.006.H1 vendor.img and the OPM4.171019.021.R1 (generic vendor / T-Mobile modem)
- or if I should just use the OPM4.171019.021.R1 vendor.img and modem.img (T-Mobile vendor / T-Mobile modem)

I was using Option 3, pure T-Mobile, no obvious issues. However I just switched to option 2 (mix/match), hoping all the T-Mobile customization's are in the modem.img file, so far no issues. Thoughts? Any T-Mobile users out there with this ROM, what option did you go with? Anybody have more details of what's in vendor.img vs modem.img and/or what changes were made by Google to accommodate T-Mobile?

Are you posting in the correct thread?
"This ROM" shouldn't touch the vendor partition as far as I can tell.

Copy the ROM on your phone.
Go to your recovery
Wipe Dalvik Cache and Data partition
Flash ROM
Reboot the system and set it up
Flash Magisk 16.x if you want root
Reboot - Enjoy!

That is it.

Yes, right thread. I know the ROM doesn't touch the vendor partition. However, I believe the ROM references OPM2.171026.006.H1 somewhere, and if during startup the system detects you're not running OPM2.171026.006.H1 then you get a warning message. Thus when/if I choose to flash the OPM4.171019.021.R1 vendor image to the vendor partition, I get a warning after Android starts up.
It indicates to me that the author of this ROM has tested/vetted his ROM against vendor OPM2.171026.006.H1. I guess I'm trying to find out if anybody has tested using the vendor and/or modem from OPM4.171019.021.R1 with this Nitrogen OS 8.10_r40 ROM, and just ignoring the startup warning. Does anybody know what makes "OPM4.171019.021.R1" different vs "OPM2.171026.006.H1" and have they had any positive or negative experiences with one or the other.

It's in Meta-inf/....iforget/ metadata. If the warning bothers you you can edit that file with a text editor like notepad++. If your phone doesn't work after (highly doubtful), flash back to stock. I've used this ROM on att, and now vzw. For me, it's flawless.

Here is the first Pie build for taimen: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903994304

Flashing process:
1. Make sure you are on latest pie factory image
2. Reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik and data
3. Flash ROM and twrp zip

Known things:
- For Google camera to work, flash this mod: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/modded-google-camera-hdr-60fps-video-t3658552
- There is an FC on AmbientSense on restart, disable it from titanium back.
- As this is the first build, some of the features are not ported yet from Oreo to Pie

I would like to have your feedback on this build.

Enjoy!

Thanks I'm going to flash this tonight. Anyone know if the most recent TWRP can restore a backup or 9.0 yet? Last time I tried was Oreo and it was broke.

No, I did not yet. Built with current sources. I'll check that.
Great work as always, any features yet or stock right now?
There are features in. Some of them are yet to be ported as mentioned in the release post.

Hey Nitin,
I've been through about everything I can across the system. BT Data, WiFi, Hotspot, GPS, Camera...the only thing I can't test are NFC. All is in working order... Aside from your notes above with Ambient Display and Camera issues really excellent build...

Thank you sir...

Great thanks! The note I mentioned is about Ambient "sense" and not ambient "display" :)

I'll re-add NFC in next build.
