[ROM]★★[TF701T][Asus Stock Rooted][KK 4.4.2 DEODEX/ODEX 11.4.1.17 v2][Aug 02]★★

Asus Stock Modded Odex/Deodexed ROM v2 - 11.4.1.17 KK 4.4.2

You can flash this straight over Asus Jelly Bean 4.3 stock, CROMi-X 6.x or Asus Kitkat Stock 4.4.2 without a wipe if you want to test it – but it is a very good idea do a full wipe to eliminate issues. CM11 users you MUST do a full wipe of data before installing. This ROM is aimed at users who want a Stock Rooted experience with minimal tweaks

You must be unlocked and have CWM 6.0.5.0 or above installed to flash the Stock Rom from the internal sdcard. You must also be on the 11.4.1.17 KK 4.4.2 Bootloader.

Please Unlock using the Asus Unlock Tool first found here.
Note installing and running this app will wipe your device and void your warranty.

You can flash CWM 6.0.5.0 using the instructions here.

If you need to move to the latest bootloader then manually install the bootloader package below from CWM.

Finally copy the ROM to a folder on your internal SD and flash it from Recovery, and reboot :)
Don't forget to do a Nandroid Backup first and give the ROM 5 mins to stabilise!

Not too sure about some of the UI colours lol. Here are some more screen shots and I have root ;)

New Lock screen though - I do like this!

HOW TO INSTALL

If you need to upgrade your bootloader then flash the bootloader and CWM package which will get you on the 11.4.1.17 bootloader and CWM 6.0.5.0 (obviously you need a version of CWM to flash this).

Reboot once and then flash the ROM below. I have made a few changes to it ;) You can flash it over the top of 4.3 (stock), 4.4.3 (stock) or CROMi-X 6.1 without a wipe. If you are coming from CM11 you will need a full wipe first.

ChangeLog from sbdags:
• Rom is Deodexed by me and I removed the call home apps (CMClient and DMClient)
• Rooted with Latest SuperSU binary, apk and daemon to give root access
• Added Browser sync for Stock Browser to sync Chrome Bookmarks (Asus forgot it)
• Fixed the SD Card write permissions for all apps
• Busybox installed
• init.d shell script support in kernel and rom
• Unsecure stock kernel
• Updated 31 Asus and Google Apps to the latest versions
• Added ES File Explorer, Terminal App, and Titanium Backup to /system/app for easy restoring :)

There are no other mods – please don’t ask for theming, changes or performance boosts. Those will come with CROMi-X :)

I understand changes between US Rom and WW Rom. That is languages packs (locales), perhaps wireless standart, etc. But what difference between US and WW bootloader?

Just a few characters in the string on the bootloader as far as I can tell :) But it's always good to keep your original SKU ;)

The way I did this one you should be able to flash the BL, CWM and ROM package all in one session - forgot to test it though :) Anyone want to guinea pig it?
I just did it all in one go.
I did the BL, CWM in my existing CWM, then the ROM with no reboots or anything in between. The new ROM booted without an issue and I am exploring it now.
I don't want to try and reboot to recovery yet to find out what happened ;) I want to use my tablet a little before the world explodes ;)

Thanks again.

Used this ROM since last night and noticed that Asus has adopted the "feature" from Android 4.4, now my Titanium Backup can only read the backup files stored on the external MicroSD card and cannot write to it. It can only write to the internal memory.

Anyway, the app SDFix fixed that, but I hope Sbdags can give us back this "non-feature" in his ROM.

Hmm something to fix for CROMi-X ;) I have a way to circumnavigate this feature I think :)

Right I have fixed the problem with apps not being allowed to use the sdcard. That was easy :) Also porting some of the more useful 4.3 apps like Asus Backup works fine on 4.4. I wonder why they dropped it......

All will be avail in cromi-x as well as some better theming. As much as I like sky blue I'm not sure I can take some of the eye strain for much longer. ;)

I tried this Update again today. And I'm not liking it. I don't like the fact that I lost the ability to customize my status and nav bars through GravityBox. Don't like the new email app. Or the "unified" notifications settings, I liked that we could check the option to separate it in previous versions. The colouring I could probably get used to over time. Using Nova I was able to scale back the size of the interface. Good grief the default was huge.

I have 4.4 running on my Nook Tablet, so there are some improvements I'm looking forward to seeing. Just not liking some of the ASUS "modifications".

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with when you cromify this update. :fingers-crossed:

Up and running on this! Great work as always. Sure is nice having root back!

From what I can tell, it's a good, stable system Asus provided us... minus the eyestrain. Happy to hear you feel the same way -- so we'll look forward to Cromi-X. :)

I do hope you enjoy building these ROMs as much as we enjoy running them! Best regards to you and yours, sbdags...

The OP posted link to the ASUS unlock tool is dead. I can't find it on the ASUS site. Does anyone have a live link for the unlock?

edit: I found it listed in the downloads here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=ASUS+Transformer+Pad+(TF701T)&p=28&s=1
but it says it will only work with Jellybean. I need to root so I can be able to write to external storage again. I have unrooted stock tablet with the new kitkat update. How can I get root?
