Re-install?

I have been having trouble with Zombi for a while. I get nuisance re-boots multiple times a day, and I have yet to figure it out. With you being the ultimate authority on this project, I would appreciate your wisdom and guidance. I tried to access and read my last_kmsg and it was unreadable. I was planning to do a re-install after a full wipe. Do you think this could help? Can you state what the step by step process should be for my case? I loaded with TWRP before, and I have done a Nandroid backup today in preparation.

On the other hand is there a better ROM to move to now?

And thanks for all your work improving these systems.

The last_kmsg is a regular text file. Any editor worth its salt should be able to read it. ESFileExplorer can. Post one and we can have a look - it's the only way to start diagnosing the issue.

Or extract it over adb:

adb pull /proc/last_kmsg

I have formatted all of my partitions including internal storage and the problem still occurs.
I can reproduce it with another app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nolanlawson.logcat

I installed using "sdbags' best settings".
Do you still get errors in TWRP? That may be your whole problem: TWRP not formatting correctly. You could try to reflash it or flash CWM recovery to do the format or format data in adb..
I am running the Logcat app and have none of the problems you describe

I have had so many problems with twrp, I went back to cwm long ago for the tf701.

I actually no longer have any issue when wiping all my partitions. I tried the asus based kernel but I wasn't able to get any WiFi. :(

I have switched to CM 12.1 by pershoot for now as I didn't of anything else I could try :)

It is literally corrupt and was unable to be read by text editor or even downloaded.

Does that in itself tell us anything? If that file is the key to understanding, I could just wait until it re-boots again and see if the file is usable on the next go 'round.

I tried to install another FW from TWRP and that failed, I then tried to reinstall Zombi. I got through making the color choices and am now in a long wait with the squiggly lines intro. How long should I wait until giving up and letting it die? It has been an hour so far.

No longer than 20 mins.

Time to format /data?

I tried to recover to the original FW and it failed twice. I then tried to reinstall Zombi from recovery. After an hour, I started trying to force a shutdown. It started numerous reboot loops, and I think I have lost the war with this but I will try again today to see if I can get it to the fastboot stage. Then I'll try to push Zombi back on with adb. Do you have any advice at this stage?

Try formatting /data from TWRP.

Try formatting /data from TWRP.
I wound up in some infinite boot loop where I could not access the TWRP menu so pushed another custom recovery with adb. When that installed I surprisingly got Zombi back (empty of apps, but so what) and I have a wifi connection. I intended to install FX so I could access a copy of my apps, but now I cannot install any apps from the store. The message I get is:

"xapp" could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-7 QQDN-YTWL-MDAKE])

Does that mean anything to you?

FIXED - apparently you must delete your Google account, re-boot, and re-enter the account. Then it is fixed. I'm probably the last person to know this, but I now do.

I don't have my TF701 anymore so I can't test unfortunately. Sorry.

Can anyone else confirm it.

What about a different kernel?

sbdags,

May I ask what device you now have (or are leaning towards getting next?) I always like to purchase something where I "know" the developer from previous ROMs ;) :good:

I went for the Sony Xperia Z4. Perfect 10" tablet. Best I have used so far. And has a dock ;)

However, there is no way of rooting or flashing a custom recovery currently.

No sorry. I don't like releasing roms without being able to test them and it is becoming increasingly difficult to develop for the Asus Transformer range as we have no Asus source since Kitkat.
Just installed this ROM and it's been great so far. Is it stable enough to use? I mean, is there any big issues with this one? I don't have/use the dock. Thanks.
