Asus Stock Modded Odex/Deodexed ROM - 11.4.1.29 KK 4.4.2

You can flash this straight over Asus Jelly Bean 4.3/4.4 stock, CROMi-X 7.x or Asus Kitkat Stock 4.4.2 without a wipe if you want to test it – but it is a very good idea do a full wipe to eliminate issues. CM11 users you MUST do a full wipe of data before installing. This ROM is aimed at users who want a Stock Rooted experience with minimal tweaks

You must be unlocked and have CWM 6.0.5.1 or above installed to flash the Stock Rom from the internal sdcard. You must also be on the 11.4.1.29 KK 4.4.2 Bootloader.

Please Unlock using the Asus Unlock Tool first found here.
Note installing and running this app will wipe your device and void your warranty.

You can flash CWM 6.0.5.1 using the instructions here.

If you need to move to the latest bootloader then manually install the bootloader package below from CWM.
Remember you need to reboot once fully before flashing the ROM.

Finally copy the ROM to a folder on your internal SD and flash it from Recovery, and reboot :)
Don't forget to do a Nandroid Backup first and give the ROM 5 mins to stabilise!

HOW TO INSTALL

If you need to upgrade your bootloader then flash the bootloader and CWM package which will get you on the 11.4.1.29 bootloader and CWM 6.0.5.1 (obviously you need a version of CWM to flash this).

Reboot once and then flash the ROM below. I have made a few changes to it ;) You can flash it over the top of 4.3 (stock), 4.4.2 (stock) or CROMi-X 6.1/7.0.3 without a wipe. If you are coming from CM11 you will need a full wipe first.

ChangeLog from sbdags:
• Rom is Deodexed by me and I removed the call home apps (CMClient and DMClient)
• Rooted with Latest SuperSU binary, apk and daemon to give root access
• Fixed the SD Card write permissions for all apps
• Busybox installed
• init.d shell script support in kernel and rom
• Unsecure stock kernel
• Added ES File Explorer, Terminal App, and Titanium Backup to /system/app for easy restoring :)
• There are a lot of apps that will get updated from the play store on first install - be patient

NB The new Asus Browser no longer supports Chrome Bookmark syncing.

There are no other mods – please don’t ask for theming, changes or performance boosts. Those will come with CROMi-X :)

Hey!! Thanks for the awesome work!! I am a noob here and I am still on the 4.3 bootloader right now. I also have a really outdated version of cwm. So, do I update CWM first and then flash the bootloader to .29 after?

can I immediately update from 4.3 to the .29 bootloader without any problems?

also, How do I flash it, because it seems that I need to take out the cwm file out of the signed zip file. Do I take that file out, then rezip and flash the remaining files for the bootloader update? Sorry for the confusion.

Flash the bootloader and cwm package in the first post and reboot. Then boot back into the new cwm and then flash the rom file ;)

I flash the bootloader/CWM package with my old installed CWM recovery? Is it really that simple???

if so, this is awesome!!

Also, I am on CM11 right now, do I need to wipe everything before flashing the package? or do I do it after the package update?

Yes you will need to do a full wipe. You can do it before or after the package - it doesn't matter but before you flash the rom.

Awesome!! One last question and I am done. What do I select to do the full wipe in the cwm recovery. I want to avoid wiping the micro sd card on my tablet. Thanks so much for all your work!! great stuff!!

Thanks sbdags.

I hate to reveal my ignorance, but why does it look like the kernel in this version is older than the one in the rooted stock rom posted by himineu several days ago? (Oct. 17 as opposed to Dec. 18, 3.4.66-ge79544a)

Not sure unless I accidentally recompiled the old version by mistake? I'll check.

They are both 3.4.66 so not any major changes.

EDIT:

Well blow me down if I hadn't picked up the previous kernel :)

Well spotted - I'll redo the uploads with this one but I suspect there is not much difference.

Here is the kernel only flash file for those of you that must have the latest version ;)

11.4.1.29 Kernel Only Flash Zip - DOWNLOAD

MD5 Hash: 3a992c8ee175c800600605b179eb0bb8

I'll redo the rom files again now but if you have already downloaded you only need to flash the file above ;)
Thanks for quickly putting that up.

I think the older kernel was contributing to battery drain, because I noticed after flashing that Google Play Services was once again the biggest battery-draining app under Power Management.

Hi, I am looking to install this or Cromi in the coming days and am wondering whether these images now include the Asus update from the 25th Dec 2014 that fixed the battery drain issue many were having?

It looks like this update may have fixed my battery drain. I was getting 100% drain overnight. Just installed this yesterday so a bit early to say, but I had only 1% drain last night with tablet docked.

Thank you sbdags and I am praying for your wife's successful treatment.
