Hello,
I have three problems and I am not really sure, if they are really problems and also one question.
First the question, what does the FE in the name of the zip name for LOS 19 mean, and what are the differences in the build?
Second my first "problem" my device is an A5, but in the settings and in my Google Account it is reconized as A7, but I thought the build are for both smartphones and does this has a relevant impact?
My second problem is that banking apps say my device is rooted even though it isn't, so I can t use them. Could this be of problem 3?
The third problem has to do more with the GApps Situation, I flashed NikGapps Core package for Android 12L and the Play Store wasn t certified, i registered my device manually by google but over 1-2 months nothing changed, does all GApp packages have non certified play stores?

I can reassure you, I think you have not three problems, only one!
your problem is that you use LOS 19 as your daily driver, this ROM is only a PREVIEW, it is only for testing !!!! It is not even open source as far as I know...

Hi,
FE is kind of a joke I made. It means Fan Edition and what makes it special is that is has DotOS quick settings panel and a custom bootanimation.
A5 being A7 in settings has no consequences whatsoever as the kernel gets patched correctly anyway.

due to the question of the member it is obvious that the device is used as a daily driver and not for testing purposes. why don't you clarify that? why is LOS19 still listed in the same thread together with LOS18? It has become very confusing for many users....

I know that this is only a preview, I chose to use it, if nobody test the builds the bugs won't be fixed, simple as that and technically I can use it without any issues, everyone has different use cases the banking apps doesn't matter

Sorry, if you were aware that it is a preview, then I do not understand your questions or problems....
To me it still looks like you are entrusting sensitive banking data, your Google account and possibly personal data stored on the device like other people's contacts to a ROM at a very early stage.... Privacy?!

Hi,

Is anyone having issues with camera?
I have the official 18.1, with camera app 2.0.002 . It works, but bad quality, crops the image... not good.
I installed LineageOS camera app, org.lineagos.snap_2.02.072 202072100, but if it is installed, the camera becomes unavailable. So any apps which are using the camera, are reporting that camera is not accessible and crash.
If i remove the newer version, seems that everything goes back to normal. Otherwise the phone is OK, fast, stable.



Device is not rooted (and will not be). Any help will be appreciated

Yeah I know about official camera app bugs, luckily those are not device bugs. Third party camera app or a google camera port is the way to go.

In particular, SELinux policy is still permissive and our kernel is too old (needs a backport, for now I'm using hacks for it to work), power hal needs rewriting as we're using old one. Don't ask, I have no idea if or when this will even get fixed. And also "monet customization" simply isn't part of LineageOS although I put it there.

So to conclude, things are not being done properly, as LineageOS has strict requirements. I still clarify it as "preview" because of that. But it's a fact that all phone features fully work and that those issues are not noticable by the end user. Some people choose to use it like that, which is really, up to them.

OK, thanks. Snap version was the first i tried, and for first sight, it was OK.
Can anyone suggest a replacement camera app until the official gets better?

Wouldn't a separation be recommendable? The situation would be much more transparent and everyone would know the risks of using LOS19-Preview...

The risks present with the LineageOS preview are pretty much in the name. Could the fact that SELinux is permissive instead of Enforced be documented somewhere clealry? Maybe, but then the question needs to be asked, would that even matter? The usecase for 19.1 preview is to test a version of the OS that is known to have issues, and thus, you shouldn't be doing anything data-sensitive on it anyways. If you want to use the previews, you should instead be using a seperate device that isn't your daily driver for it.

Every other issue is pretty much expected. If you want (as close to) stable and (relatively) secure, use 18.1.

Did anyone get data encryption to work with the LineageOS 19 Builds? I see some mentions of it but whenever I try it I get stuck in a flashing bootloop where it asks for my Pin but then goes black immediately so that I can't enter it.
I've tried it with the 20220391 and 20220503FE Build with only Nikgapps basic 20220420 installed and freshly wiped data but it doesn't want to work

Builds are done automatically on a weekly basis, reguardless of if anything has changed or not.

I've tried using Android Auto with my Car today today on the LineageOS 19 20220519 Build + NikGapps Basic
It mentioned that no App is installed for this protocol so I installed Android Auto from the Play Store.
Then Android Auto showed me error 22 though which roughly translated says "Android Auto wasn't preinstalled. To be able to use it it needs to be integrated into your System"
Is this a problem with LineageOS or do I need to use another Gapps Package to get this functionality?

It seems that encryption is not an issue there: I managed - the hard way - to disable PIN screen check during bootup (it's not very less secure as the PIN will be asked for TWRP and wake up access anyway) by runing the Android wizard assistant after a complete wipe, and telling him i did not want it during boot. after that I was able to install this rom without boot issue.

Hi, I've got a problem on my A5 with LineageOS 19 where the Wifi stops working after a few minutes of usage. When I go into the settings and reset the internet connection it's back again for a few minutes when it breaks again.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Using since more than 2 months an A5 2017 as secondary phone for a family member (being quite happy with it), I am wondering to have another A5 2017 in the family as daily driver. What keeps me from doing it without asking is the pending situation about official and/or OTA updates beyond LineageOS 18.1. Knowing that the crystal ball even for someone like Option58 is blurry, I was wondering whether e. g. Option58 but also anyone else has a thought on this. I saw e. g. LineageOS 19.1 for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 receiving OTA updates even so being unofficial via an own server of the developer. Or is there already some light at the end of the tunnel towards a newer kernel allowing LineageOS 19.1 at some moment being official for this phone?

Big thank you in any case to Option58 and anyone else making it possible to run this phone with up to date software! Both in the interest of saving some money but even more the precious resources for less new phones!

Honestly don't get another a5, there are phones that are newer and cheap that are much better, you can't unlock the bootloader anymore anyway since the oem unlocking servers are dead so you'd be stuck on 8.0, right now as far as I know we can't get official but pretty much everything works in 19.1 (been using since it came out) although obviously no ota updates (although it's not too difficult to just download and flash new build, it's just a few more steps I guess)

The OEM unlock toggle only appears after a certain amount of time running stock and this is determined by checking a server, since the server is now dead the toggle won't appear
