does this command need to be run from terminal in Twrp. I have already installed magisk and the loopback zip didnt work.
Yes -- the whole process (including installation) must take place in TWRP only.

EDIT: module updated. No need to manually remove image files anymore. Install from TWRP and forget.

Camera failed.

Camera failed.

1. Standard camera application opens, but does not record photos or videos, no error message is displayed. 2. Using a third-party camera application, the camera works on most of them, but sometimes it registers photos and sometimes not, in some cases the picture gets corrupted or camera error occurs and the app hangs. Motorola Moto Z play; Kernel NPL26.116; TWRP 3.2.1 .; ROM used: lineage-15.0-20171007-UNOFFICIAL-addison

This thread is for the Official 14.1 based on Nougat. I suggest you ask your question in the thread for your unofficial release, you may have better luck. With that being said the unofficial release does have a record of bugs and one of them is the camera not working.

Since there has been no official release you really are not going to find a stable one for 8.0 or 8.1 on Stock. And since Lineage has not done an official release because of my prior statement anything on that as well will have bugs through out it. If you are really looking to just flash for the sake of it, I would suggest to start with the Official release of Lineage 14.1 but remember this is a custom rom and a lot of the Moto add-ons from Stock will not be there. Other wise just stay where you are and wait for official releases.

Thanks, I just wanted to fix the camera problem.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1.2 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Installation
Make sure you have a nougat bootloader and modem else TWRP denies the installation by throwing a message about the wrong bootloader. Further details and a guide to upgrade what you need without losing data here.
Requires Unlocked Bootloader & a custom recovery

    1. Place ROM & Gapps in your virtual SD
    2. Reboot in Bootloader Mode
    3. Go to "Recovery" (Vol +/Vol -) and confirm (power)
    4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
    5. Wipe Dalvik cache
    6. Install the ROM zip
    7. Install su for root (get it here, you have to enable it from developer settings) [optional]
    8. DO NOT REBOOT
    9. Install the Gapps zip
    10. Reboot

I think there may be a setting missing- vibrator intensity. It shows up in the search results when you search settings, and it takes you to the "Other Sounds" menu that it's usually in, but there's no button there to change it. Possible to add it? Any way I can help?

I like to lower the intensity on mine so it's not vibrating across the table every time I get a notification...

It's on my TODO list, I've actually already implemented it but I did not have enough time to test properly yet (https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/175294/, https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/175295/, https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/175296/, https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/175297/). Moto is already lowering the vibration while the device is on a table so I want to make sure everything is fine (https://github.com/LineageOS/androi...d7360/drivers/platform/msm/qpnp-haptic.c#L789) and avoid any kind of issue.

Oh while I'm here... Soon I'll remove the possibility of installing Moto Camera from the Play Store (I guess in a week or two) since it crashes while recording videos (because of missing permissions). Hence you'll have to install it separatedly as system app. You can find the package I use here which has the support for backup tools, in other words it survives on ROM updates like the su binary.

Last but not least I've rebased our kernel (https://github.com/Alberto97/android_kernel_motorola_msm8953/commits/upgrading_CAF_moto) on the top of the (currently) latest codeaurora tag and linux release (yes, 3.18 is still alive). While at it I've also unified camera drivers with 2017 devices. Motorola at a certain point decided to duplicate them in order to apply specific changes only to the new devices since older ones don't need them. One branch though is definitely easier to maintain than two and the difference between them is not currently that big.
Anyway I'm still working on it (there are a couple of things to move from a commit to another) and I'm waiting a 7.1.1 kernel source drop from Moto before pushing everything into production builds thus this still might take a while.

For those are wondering, yes I've built the CM13 too but I have a weird and annoying bug there. For some reason Google's Location Provider causes random memory corruptions which lead to many random reboots when you're connected to a wifi network. Without a WiFi connection presence the device bootloops endlessly (we actually had a similar issue with moto msm8916 family but the problem was explicit there, here it's not). Nougat isn't affected by this bug, so that's why I'm directly publishing CM14.1 and skipping CM13

New build available! It took me weeks if not months but now camcorder is fully working on Moto Camera and Snap Camera both. Call Recording now works as well.
