That's from step 4, just do steps 1-4 omitting anything that has to do with Transformation rom. Everything should work for bootloader locked phones.
EMUI Flasher requires Root...
The last time I checked, Root can only be done with unlocked bootloader.

You are correct... I forgot the flasher needs root (no unlocked bootloader - no root). But I think you can still install the update, but using a different app and needing a Huawei ID account. Steps are here https://androidtutorial.net/2019/04/13/download-emui-9-1-beta-on-your-mate-20-series/
I have that App. Unfortunately, the only available project is some GMS Beta Activity...
Some app and setting in my phone are crashing after the Emui 9.1 beta upgrade

You can try to clear cache in Recocery. Otherwise you must factory reset device.

Thanks. I have flashed stock rom many time with full base version, with 9.0.0.200 rom and again with 9.1.0.115. but Nothing change...
PS: I think it is first time i update to 9.1 I have tried flash root from Kingvip Room...
not sure why.but I stucked at the last step.cant boot into system
then i have to flash your root recovery and seems fine.
guess i will try for a while to see if there is anything wrong

Need some help as well. I ended up with a hybrid too, but I have no apps or even a browser to install anything.

How’d you fix it? I had the same thing, finally factory reset from TWRP - magic installs, reboots and now I’m stuck on a white screen complaining about HWSetup not responding.

Can anyone running this Version of ROM tell us if you can change the Stock Launcher to another third party Launcher ?

yes,you can change as you want.
But swipe up to home/recent tasks animation is not as smooth as the stock one.
tested on GlobAL00ized 2.0
Or maybe you can froze the stock launcher then it wont have the swipe up function and its recent tasks interface(back to the AOSP one).
you can do this even on official ROM,just make sure you got another Launcher to use
