Only I'm not sure if we have anyone remained onboard who is able to customize 9.1 and more important 10.

Hello Friends. I want to get rid of the stock ROM that came with my MATE 20 X, but I don't have a bootloader unlock code. Will I be able to use this procedure? I have the Chines ROM and the latest version of it, too (in case that might affect what I want to do, which is to replace it AND have root access). Thank you in advance. :fingers-crossed:

You would not be able to flash a custom ROM without a bootloader unlock code.

A few reasons I think devs left this device and possibly other Huawei devices:

1. Huawei made it near impossible to get codes to unlock the bootloader
2. Huawei changing to EROFS after 9.1.0.120 for Mate 20 X (at least on AL00). A readnly file system that AFAIK can't be written to even with root, making root pointless.

I don't know if newest 10 firmware uses this file system or if they changed it again.

Thank you for that insight. Last night my phone updated to EMUI 10, and was hoping beyond hope that somewhere that could be jail broken. It's a shame because this is a great phone with astounding battery life, if not for the stupid O/S. A stripped down, lean, rooted O/S would make it perfect.

They've all gone the Samsung route or OnePlus, Huawei development is dead. Which is a shame, since even without root some amazing things are popular tweaking wise on devices that have more following.

shame indeed. i dont get it, we can either have the perfect hardware in the mate 20 x or the perfect / customizeable software on the likes of samsung amd oneplus. why not both?!
