I am in the same boat. Thing has slowed down so much it is time to rom it or get an iPhone. It looks like the CRF1 files are posted as a preinstall step.Interested in this, however I'm currently on an AT&T S7 flat G930A running latest security patched CRG5 (non-rooted). Recommendations on this (possible/not-possible)? I see in the OP instructions that it needs to be on CRF1. Do I need to go back and odin flash a stock CRF1? Any chance of an updated version with CRG5? Thanks for these efforts...I know you all do this in your limited free time!
Yes. There is a root guide here. I recommend following the steps to upgrade to Oreo and install this rom.Is there root for this on a flat ATT s7?
Yes, this is not entirely a true "custom ROM" this is modified stock ROM. US variant Samsung phones have a locked bootloader so you can't have a true "custom recovery" how safestrap is different as it doesn't actually replace the android recovery. Any attemp to install official twrp or "ASOP" custom ROM , or a custom kernel will soft brick your phone(fixable but a hassle)Silly question, but will custom ROMs like this work with the AT&T S7? I ask because I thought AT&T locked the phones down a couple years ago so that custom ROMs could not be installed. Thanks!
Follow his link to root guide. I used the Alternative Root Zip because this is the only I that works with Titanium Backup Pro. The issue was if you wiped dalvik cache it would destroy the rom. This method works well and I am loving it!Yes. There is a root guide here. I recommend following the steps to upgrade to Oreo and install this rom.![]()
I'm trying to get rid of FRP but I'm not sure what you mean by samfail. Couldn't find anything in the forum about it.SafeStrap Flashable Zips
Remove FRP Protection Safestrap Flashable Zip
SS_Remove_FRP_S7.zip
Directions For FRP
So if your stuck and dont know google account info Do the samfail process when all done flash file to enter safestrap once in safestrap mount and unmount system then flash SS_Remove_FRP zip then follow direction to leave safestrap. After your phone reboots from recovery the last time force phone back to recovery wait until options come up and wipe data and you can now enter new google account in setup or skip

If you flash one of the google mods make sure to set default dialer in settings/apps to google dialer
If Gboard dont show update the app in playstore or apk mirror then in playstore uninstall the update then it will work

The above zips cannot be undone If you want to go back to stock you would need to do the Install process over but you shouldnt need to wipe data this time
