well it's worth spending $10 for the screen, but my phone has other issues as well. that's why i'm not sure...
power button is not working, charging speeds are slow and the battery is quite old.

i modified the system so this phone just turns on when you plug a charger, no off-mode charging. that mostly solves the power button problem. don't know if the slow charging is due to old battery or the replaced charging board but these problems are making this phone hard to use. its just a decent backup device for now. it was a good device in 2015 standards, 3gb ram and 8core cpu on a mid-range device? sure. but now its quite old ^^

i'm just glad that i can access to the fastboot and recovery without power button lol. otherwise it would be a brick without power button repair.
You are really lucky that you can go to bootloader without power key.
I also had the problem of slow charging and rapid battery discharge, which was solved by replacing the battery.
Definitely worth spending $10.
Yes, it was very smart in its time and compared to the phones of that time. Of course, it is still enough for me as a first phone with daily use. And I am satisfied. Thanks to you for having an up-to-date and flawless operating system. However, in the screen protector, I select the analog clock when charging, and after disconnecting and connecting the charger once, it returns to the digital clock, and this is strange. Of course, it is not a problem. I just wanted you to know.

it might be a bug with the clock app itself and not the rom. you can try other options like google clock? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock&hl=en_US

i don't use screensavers at all so i didn't notice a problem. even if i were to uıse it i'd use the digital lol. this device doesn't have an amoled display so why would i keep the whole screen lit up and slow the charging speed? amoled displays don't turn on the black pixels at all so the power consumption is lower.

edit, tested...
for me, when i set it to analog and plug the charger in&out, it shows digital in the settings but when i charge again it shows the analog clock. so its just a display issue and works properly.

guess it registers the last option you pick and works fine but when you go into the setting tab again it displays digital. might be an oversight from android itself, lineageos or crdroid... doesn't affect the functionality for me.

i'm not changing the lineage/crdroid files just adapting this device source and fixing stuff when i can. and previous devs did the most of that. i wouldn't attempt building this rom without their work and files. its just too much work to start from the beginning. i couldn't even do it at my current level, i'd have to research and learn much more before being able to make a rom for this device ^^

if it happens on this phone probably happens on all the crdroid android 11 roms across all the devices. and potentially lineageos too

Thank you for following up, I didn't look at it as a problem, so I didn't expect it to be solved. I just wanted you to be informed.
You have worked hard for this device and ROM until now.

How to modify the system? I want to try it later. Thanks to providing updates to this device
you want it to turn on when you plug a charger? that's a simple one.
unzip and put healthd.rc file in the system/etc/init folder

you might need to set chmod. i just set it to 755 cuz there's a button on the twrp file manager :D it's easy.

btw you can try disabling system tracing, not sure if it slows things down or affects the performance at all but disabling shouldn't hurt anything and its reversible anyways.

to disable:
Code:
adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.traceur

to bring it back:
Code:
adb shell pm install-existing com.android.traceur

you can report back if you see any positive or negative effects

my slow charging speeds were caused by the charging port replacement, confirmed. found an original part for $5, now it's charging rapidly :) 10w is not rapid/fast by today's standards but that previous board was horrible. it was like 1/5 the speed and if you were gaming while charging your battery would actually go down :D now its back to normal.

It's the same for me when downloading a file, watching a video or playing a game while charging, the battery drains.
I am happy to hear that you are slowly giving new life to the phone, first the LCD and now the charging socket.

i won't be able to find these parts in the future so... fixing it while i can. i bought the last display for sub $10 now all the other sellers are asking $20-25+ even for just the display without frame. so you would have to spend some extra for the glue as well and the process is more time consuming. i probably wouldn't pay that much. but found it cheap :)

why don't you get a new phone btw? i'm glad this is not my daily driver lol :D is it really enough for you? after all this time :) its not unusable but missing a lot of modern features, fast charging is a game changer. even 33w is a huge jump.

Yes, I know, and I'm eager to get a new phone, but I went through bankruptcy a few years ago and still have more financially viable options to spend than a phone. Although only for calling and SMS and sometimes I use it for surfing the web and listening to music, and this device is still responsive. And thanks to you I am up to date in terms of Android version. And that's enough for now.

For a while, I used this phone to do call-of-duty mobile, although sometimes I had lags, but overall it was not bad, I think with Android 7.

Hello! I'm currently using a ZE550KL phone with crDroid (A10). Can I just dirty flash this A11 ROM and still keep my data and stuff? Or should I start from scratch and reset/wipe everything? Thanks!

Custom recovery: TWRP 3.7.0_9-0
Rooted with Magisk 26.1

Hi, I'm not sure, but I think you should do a clean wipe, make a backup of the data Make the flash dirty, maybe it will work, and if it doesn't, you have a backup of the data and do a complete reset.

zenfone selfie is my test device and don't have any known major issues. just the ui crash i mentioned in the first post which is minor.

i don't know about ze601kl tho, it would boot, most functions would work... but ZE60xKL devices had speaker problems with the previous roms and i didn't have any testers while i was developing this rom. so the speaker might not work. you need to test it. if it doesn't work then you're out of luck, for the foreseeable future atleast... i'm not daily driving linux :) already back to windows. so i won't be releasing a new update anytime soon. i could try building a permissive build to see if the old patch would work or not https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/patch-9-0-ze60xkl-speaker-patch-is-available.3927464/

hopefully it just works? but i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. just take your backups so you can go back if it doesn't.

installing the rom is simple, you can find tutorials on youtube... if your bootloader is not unlocked you can check this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...tloader-without-asus-unlock-app-root.3405850/

That's good for Zenfone selfie ZD551KL.

I have zenfone laser ZE601KL.
ZE60xKL speaker not working.
Thats not good for ZE601KL.
Do you mean you have flashed the latest crDroid and the speaker does not work?

I have read some posts mention that there are sound patches for ZE601KL but it's for android version up to 9. ZE601KL has quite good dual speakers. I hope someone can bring the custom android 11 with sound fix for Zenfone ZE601KL.

    What's not working?
    ZE60xKL Speaker.
    You tell me...

    What's working?
    Everything else?

    Known minor issues:
Rarely, opening the settings from quick settings can crash the system-ui. This issue is not persistent and if it happens, only happens after a reboot or restarting system-ui(like changing ui elements from customization options).
Opening a notification will solve this issue until the next reboot, also this problem didn't happen when i had a password/pin protection.

    Info about the down-clocked kernel:
My device can't run 1.1GHz on the little cores so i'm using a modified version of the kernel. Previous builds of the rom were using that downclocked kernel, so just in case if the previous builds were working and the latest doesn't you can use that downclocked kernel. added in the google drive folder... normally you shouldn't need it but personally i'm using the down-clocked one.

Info about encryption(based on my own limited testing with 1 device):

I made this rom for personal use and can't regularly update or maintain it. Don't have enough time or storage space on my drives for it. So, if you find some other bugs feel free to report it for other users but i probably won't be able to fix them. Apart from the hotspot problem i didn't encounter any major issues...

also made an ArrowOS build for these devices. wanted to see if it was performing better or not but didn't notice any differences in terms of performance. also ArrowOS is a bit behind in terms of security updates... still, i already compiled it so why not share it? more options the better... if you want a vanilla rom you can check it out...

how's the general experience? any other major issues? is the led only problem? and is the problem only about charge indicator? like charging light turns off at 89%+ but led works properly for notifications from the apps?
anyways, i spent years without a notification led with my nokia 8, i think you can live with that :p
Experience is good so far. No speaker related issues unlike other Android 10 roms. VoLTE also supports. Notification led for notifications works fine. It's just the charging thing that happens after 89% but I can live with that. Charging shows rapidly as I charge it with 10w charger. Connections work well like Bluetooth, hotspot and wifi. Anyone can use it as a daily driver. Some apps will stutter as it aged well like chrome and youtube. I use Brave cause it seems smooth and ad-free 😅

Yes. It WORKS!!!! Lower cores min is 800mhz and upper cores min is 533mhz. Thank you 😄

after some more testing i noticed that twrp versions above 3.2.x can't decrypt data if you have encryption enabled(imo you shouldnt on such an old device tho. might decrease the performance.) also newer twrp versions don't leave enough space for encryption footer. you can't even encrypt the device even if you wanted to if you had formatted data with new twrp.

encryption works but if you don't have a password before encrypting the device it still asks a password when you boot. you might lose your data, encrypt at your own risk.

    edit:did more testing.
this info is based on my own testing with zenfone selfie(z00t), other devices might be different, i can't be sure...

if you want to use encryption, use twrp version 3.2.3-0
if you had formatted your data with newer versions before, format data with 3.2.3-0 to leave enough space for encryption footer.
make sure you have a password/pin/pattern lock before encrypting the device.
make sure you don't disable secure startup when changing your password.

if you encrypt the phone without a password or if you disable the secure startup you will lose your data.

i still advise against using encryption on this device tho. if you want, just be careful.
