Is root enabled and if so is it full root? Such as cane I rename a system file, reboot device and the file name retains the name I changed it to. Right now I am on OnePlus 9 Pro T-Mobile OOS 12 with magisk root, but the file system is still protected from any change. Thanks for any input. I want a device that I have total control over with root.

I was interested in this, I want to rename my gcam to camera to see if that will have more success with icon packs. If you tell me how to do it or send the right guide, I'll check for you and let you know

With some frequency, my device will seem to drop the mobile network. The indicator will show full service, however the network will not function until I toggle it off and on again.

Any ideas?

Since A11, all critical partitions are locked as ROFS so apps can't modify files directly. Fortunately, magisk comes to the rescue. You can make a flashable module (called vrtheme) with the necessary modifications and activate it in magisk.
The procedure could lead to bootloop if you're not careful.
Here's a guide i found for theming icons. You can modify an apk content or a whole apk.

How does the camera and the app to use it work?

- Does it work with 3 lenses?
- Video settings are the same as on FW from OnePlus?
- How about photo and video quality?

The default camera is the shocking bog standard gapps one that states it hasn't been updated since 2009. The best use for it is testing your debloat module. You need to install your favourite gcam (and XML if that's something you do) and use that for your camera related things. There is a OnePlus camera app supposedly in development, but it certainly isn't a thing now. Side loading the normal version's APK doesn't work either.

Thank you.
You cooled my enthusiasm to change the software.

The gcam is not the same - the photos are nice but it doesn't support all modes like the default app.
Too bad you can't install apps from OnePlus...

This is all well and good, however, having root access is exactly what it means, having unobstructed access to everything in the root if the system without having to jump through hoops to just simple root tasks. I shouldn't have to go around the moon and back for a simple task. I once had a Samsung S4 Mini, rooted that I could do anything with just a root explorer. I could change the name of the default boot animation.zip to boot animation.zip.bak, then paste my own boot animation.zip in its' place and bingo, I had a new boot animation on startup without modules or anything else. Just a normal root file explorer.....why does OnePlus have to be more complicated?

Not oneplus. You have to thank google for this. It's for security, and it's the case of all devices shipped with a/b partition scheme. Nothing you can do about it. Like i said, we're lucky magisk allows us to still modify root files now. We'll take what we can get...

awesome thanks man ill give that a shot now! do you have any idea what could be causing the data and wifi or the launcher issue? the wifi one it says its connected but it seems like it doesnt want to pull an IP address for some reason, and when i initially pulled up the page one time it said it was blocked but then it quickly changed to connected but there still wasnt an IP and it still asked me to connect to internet to continue setting up lol

ps: it looks like the internet issue has been fixed but still having issues with the launchers, tried swapping to the pixel one but that just doesnt show anything on the screen
if you installed gapps that have pixel launcher, then that is the cause

Build 20220328 is ready marking the debut of Android 12L based crDroid
With this build, do note that a clean flash is recommended if coming from any other pre 8.3 build
This update won't be pushed via OTA if you also run any previous crDroid 8.3 build, but all upcoming updates will
Do also note that it may be possible to not have carrier service in some cases.
In order to fix that, do install crDroid, boot to it once, reboot to system again and it should get signal then... Still investigating root cause of this.

    Changelog:
    - Initial crDroid 8.3
    - Changed base code to Android 12L
    - Lots and lots of changes to count, so update and check yourself :)

Thanks a lot for non-gapps build.
guess anyone can install gapps when they want google stuff added
so with crDroid 8, we no longer per-bundle gapps
