What do you quote ? We can only trash this smartphone if doesn't have security updates if using for app banking management purposes.

Simply the best rom I tested so far: no bugs at all, internet connection sharing by USB or wifi is working great and is very reliable (not the case with Syberia A12 or Voltage OS A13). Only minor drawback: the lineage recovery that doesn't seem to allow backup on the contrary of twrp...
By the way there is no personalization but this is what I prefer.

Thanks for the information! Is the battery consumption as low as Syberia A12?

A lot of vendors don't provide monthly security updates. We would all rather be running the latest security patches, but you're certainly not the only person logging into their bank with the March patch. Have some patience, remember that this ROM is maintained by a volunteer as a hobby. You are not entitled to timely security updates.

Related to this, do any of you know how safe it is to use this phone when its last Vendor security patch level is from July 2021? Do the Android security updates of this ROM still make up for such an outdated patch from Xiaomi, or do they cover different "security layers" so to speak (and thus one of them remains vulnerable)?

I keep using this as my daily phone because I resist to replace a perfectly functional piece of hardware, but often I wonder if vendor security patches would be a sensible reason for switching to a newer phone.

They are different layers, but that doesn't necessarily mean the device isn't safe to use. The vendor security patch covers things like firmware and blobs that we can't really patch independently of Xiaomi. As long as you think before you click (i.e. avoid going to sketchy websites and downloading weird stuff), you should be okay. If you are super paranoid about it or you want everything to be as hardened as possible, you're always going to be better off with a recent Pixel that gets official monthly security updates straight from Google.

That happened to me too.
Switch it off, remove the micro sd card. switch it on. reaches the desktop, no more boot loop. switch it off.
Use the microsd card in usb card adapter in a pc. format the micro sd card (fat32) .
plug it in the smartphone, switch it on. use the other option to manage the sd card : use micro sd as a external memory (for videos, songs, ecc... )

your solution implies that i CAN'T use a SD card as an adoptable storage on this device

Since I use this ROM, my battery is drained pretty fast. And I can't get the battery to be 100%. Leaving my phone plugged for 24h get the battery to ~60%

Is my battery dying or could it be a software issue ? It suspiciously started after I switched from xiami default OS to this ROM ( lineage-20.0-20230918 )
My battery charging and usage is normal on this ROM. Might be your battery going for some reason, but if you could switch back to the previous ROM or a different one, you could verify. Could also be a problem with the charging circuit, I just had a different good phone totally dead brick on me after just a reboot, no charging no nothing.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13 (T), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Notes
    - Selinux is enforcing
    - FBE build, don't use twrp for these builds
    - Custom kernels are NOT supported
    - Read the instructions carefully
