nice work, +1.
i am having trouble with the back and option buttons not lighting up. i go to settings -> aokp -> hardware buttons and the default is 5 seconds illumination. and they light up when i am in that menu. but when i go to the homescreen they shutoff and never light up again.
Yeah, that is a known issue. We were just discussing it in the other thread under the international variant forum. I'm looking into it.

I am enjoying the rom. Would this rom cause an issue for a video doorbell to have connection time out? My Android lollipop phones maintain the connection with the doorbell but with this 7.1.2 I have to keep refreshing the app in order to stay connected. Just asking because I have missed UPS and FedEX deliveries, whereas my spouse's lollipop gets notifications. Other than that, this is my daily driver. Continued success and Long live the Note 3.

It could be something in the ROM, or it could simply be something added to AOSP since LL. Remember, in MM (or maybe N, I don't remember which lol) Android made some changes to the way background processes handled data connections and updates to save battery life. Basically, processes are given a window of time in which to communicate while the device is asleep. Outside of those windows, the processes are suspended to save battery power. It could simply be that your video doorbell app is losing its connection between those maintenance windows because of the doorbell's connection timeout. To test that theory, you could try keeping your display on for a while and seeing if the doorbell connection times out while the device is awake. If it does not timeout while the screen is on, it is more than likely the maintenance windows keeping your app from maintaining a connection to the doorbell. Most remote devices expect a 'check in' every so often to maintain the connection, and if your app is suspended when the doorbell expects the 'check in', the doorbell would drop your connection.

Thank you for the response. I did figure out how to give this app higher priority and it seems like it's helping it stay open in the background. Is anyone using a SmartWatch with this? I was married to the Samsung ecosystem with the Samsung Gear 2, Samsung Gear S and Samsung Gear S2. I had a LG G watch on hand that I'm using to maintain some compatibility. Please keep up the great work. I keep the ROM up-to-date with the nightly OTA download Zips.

How is the battery life on this rom?
It seems okay to me. On my Note 3 in particular, I've noticed that when I'm using my phone consistently, its drain is like moderately to moderately-high. That could also be due to the fact that my Phone has the factory battery. :p (maybe my setup, too?) When it stays idle for a long time, it does well. (not draining unnecessarily). Even though it's my first foray into the realm of custom ROMs, I like this one a lot. (so far).

@shane87 So far almost everything is great. Thx for bringing this over to our Note 3.

Curiously, however, none of the Amazon apps will open for me - Amazon Drive, Amazon Prime Video, and Amazon Shopping.

I don't think I'll be of much help, but here's my input.
I'm able to open Amazon shopping and Prime video. (I don't use Drive).

The Amazon apps began to work all of a sudden, beginning with the Amazon Shopping app. Don't know why it didn't work earlier throughout the day. Didn't wipe cache, reinstall, or anything like that.

I personally don't have a Note 3. My wife does, and I use her device for testing lol, but she doesn't use Amazon apps, so I can't provide much input. However, on my LG G4, I do use Amazon shopping and Amazon prime. I have noticed that for a while after an Amazon app update, when I try to launch the recently updated app I will get a toast message saying the app is not installed. However, that usually clears up within a few minutes, so I'm not sure if that is related. Anyway, glad to hear they are working again.

@shane87 Do you think you could spare some time to look over & add some of your touches to this AOKP ROM for the Note 4 (910C)?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3720964

That AOKP ROM seems just a couple of steps away from being as complete & stable as yours. The OP seems to be giving up on it, unfortunately.

It's extra work, for sure, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask just in case & b/c you seem so competent at this stuff. I'm jelly of your abilities with phones. [emoji16]

Loving the ROM~! It's been a few days now and it's been rock solid and battery life and performance are great. So far, I haven't experienced any issues whatsoever except for that brief Amazon apps issue (couldn't sign-in for some reason).

Definitely gonna donate to you come pay-day~!! :D

I appreciate the kudos man. I enjoy tinkering with Android, and I'm glad I can share my work.

I can't make any promises, but I will take a look at AOKP for the Note 4. See if there are any tidbits I can get pulled in and pushed up, at least get them in for review.

That'd be awesome~!

AFAIK, the only MAJOR issue with that ROM in its current state is the inability to use the microphone for such things as voice recording, recording any sound when shooting videos, and Google Assistant/Google Voice Search.

I've been running it for 2 days now and it's pretty stable and smooth.

I'm using your ROM on my Note 3 and that ROM on my 910C Note 4. :) It's so nice to be on Nougat. Both phones are better updated than my GS8+~!!
