Can some one tell me how to COPY a screen shot, if I go to gallery I do see options to share, edit delete etc but not an option to copy

Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA
I'd use a file explorer (like ES File Explorer) - long press the file, and select copy.

What did you merge from CM9? I'm trying to get the recent AVRCP changes in. No guarantees I'll have any success since I don't actually know what I'm doing.

Thanks for the release. Happy Easter if that's your thing.

For the record, it's currently sleeting here in southern Maine.

Every bug I've found in the latest build working itself out over a few hours. The weather in rom control started working and the button lights started working as well.

Task dude, I cannot imagine the frustration you have when you spend so much time answering the FAQs on the OP and every other damn post is question that has been answered!

Red5, this is getting seriously annoying to someone who takes the time (not even a lot, really) to read up on the ROM IN A DEVELOPER THREAD! And yet there are still people asking some really very bonehead questions! Its not just this thread, it's SHOman's and Entropy's old DD thread as well...at least he knew better than to keep his new thread open...

I don't what anyone can do, but I just really needed to express my frustration. I'm just sick of wading through BS on a forum that should reflect the hard work and efficiency of our devs. Much love to you guys.

If you didn't wipe both caches (as you asked earlier) you can't complain about ANYTHING.

Also, wiping cache and dalvik don't do anything to configuration settings - only the full wipe/factory reset wipes your settings.
Chill late to the party gapps didn't flash right you should speak to people in a friendly tone not one of spite

I have this weird issue. Some apps i cant install such as tapatalk 2 beta and better battery stats just to name a few. Is it because they are not yet compatible with 4.0.4 or is it a rom glitch? it launches the apk but the install button would not click.

AOKP FAQ

I went ahead and collected most of the questions people have had into a nice organized FAQ. Please, read here first. Chances are, your question will be answered.

AOKP FAQ
ALWAYS REFRESH (F5) FOR THE LATEST VERSION!

(Un)Common Sense
  • You can't set your DPI below 192 without a modified Phone.apk. Replace the apk in /system/app
  • CM9/AOKP themes can be found here
  • NEVER ask for ETAs
  • Car Home: Flash this in CWM (fix permissions if crashing)
  • Keyboard animation? - USE THE ANIMATION MANAGER
  • Wifi fix here - might be irrelevant

Flashing

How to Update
  • Download the latest version of the ROM and Google Apps from the OP.
  • Reboot into recovery.
  • (Optional, but recommended) Make a Nandroid backup
  • Wipe cache partition
  • Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
  • Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard (wherever you saved the download) > Flash task650-aokp-[version].zip
  • Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard (wherever you saved the download) > Flash gapps-ics-[version]-signed.zip (Flash *twice* if it doesn't seem to flash correctly)
  • Reboot

How to Use the AROMA Installer (thanks to mrRobinson)
  • FULL INFO HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691648
  • Download the latest version from http://d-h.st/users/mrRobinson
  • Flash the ROM (clearing cache/dalvik/fullwipe if necessary - there is an option to wipe inside of the installer, but call me old fashioned, I like to do it from CWM before flashing the new ROM :)
  • Flash mrRobinson-AesSedai.[version]_signed.zip
  • Follow the excellent tutorial. You should not have to flash GApps, it is included. There are options for inverts, fixes, and a file manager inside. The touch screen works, but scrolling can be buggy at times. Volume up/down & power also work. Use the "Customize Install" for the most options.

Troubleshooting/Comprehensive Re-flash
  • (Optional, but recommended) Back up any apps you may want restored (Titanium Backup's batch mode (a PRO feature) makes this painless!
  • Re-download the latest version of the ROM and Google Apps (even if it's the same version you have) from the OP. It's possible you may have a corrupted download.
  • Reboot into recovery. Follow the process below exactly, and there should be no NEED for a "kernel cleaning" script.
  • Wipe cache partition
  • Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
  • (Optional, but recommended) Mounts and Storage > mount /system & /data
  • Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard (wherever you saved the download) > Flash task650-aokp-[version].zip
  • (Optional, but recommended) Mounts and Storage > mount /system & /data
  • Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard (wherever you saved the download) > Flash gapps-ics-[version]-signed.zip
  • Reboot
Test ROM, BEFORE restoring *any data* (if you did a full reset). DON'T RESTORE SYSTEM DATA! (Wifi passwords are probably okay, but stay away from other system apps)
Fixing permissions in CWM helps fix MANY *random* glitches.
If you see a specific app always crashing or force-closing, wipe its data with Titanium Backup or Settings > Applications > Clear Data.
If you still encounter problems, do a FULL reset ( Recovery > Wipe data/factory reset) & follow the steps again. THEN, you can report issues!

Known Bugs & Common Problems
  • When using headphones/line-out, a notification will lower the media volume. This is a CM9 bug. Just click volume up/down to restore the media volume

General Questions

How can I support this AWESOME ROM?
Donate to task650!

My microSD card doesn't show up!
The location for the microSD card is /emmc.
Now, if you have no idea what I just said, go download Solid File Explorer. Open it up, read through the instructions, and hit back once (so you are in /mnt). You should see folders such as asec, SD Card, Internal Memory, and secure. Click on SD Card...to access the files on your SD card.

My external SD card doesn't show up when I connect my phone to the computer! New!
  • Settings > Storage > Menu > USB computer connection > Try changing the mode.
  • Try using a third-party app. Download this APK and install it. Click Allow when the Superuser prompt comes up. Reboot. Now, when you connect to the computer, a blue USB connection notification will appear. Toggle it to enable the USB Mass storage mode workaround.
  • A possible solution, using a computer app and an Android app in conjunction, has been created. Check out this for details.
  • Finally, some people have had success with this app to switch between MTP <-> USB mass storage mode. (I know it says only for SGS1, but it works.)

I can't download this ROM or GApps!
The latest Google apps can always be found here. Download the version for CyanogenMod 9.0.x [4.0.3-4]. Remember that this DOES NOT have GMail included.
If you're having problems downloading from the phone, use the stock browser. Otherwise, try Download All Files.

Long pressing Home doesn’t bring up the Recent Apps
Go to Settings > ROM Control > Navigation Bar > Long press home action > Change it from Do nothing to Show Recents > Reboot

My GPS Doesn’t work!
Flash the latest version of the ROM. ALL GPS issues should be fixed!
Still having problems?
  1. Download GPS Status & Toolbox
  2. Menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS state > Reset
  3. Menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS state > Download
  4. Wait for a GPS lock, and if you're not satisfied, go flash a different ROM!

“This ROM is great, but X feature is missing”
Go to the AOKP forum on Rootzwiki and post there. Task650 only compiles and merges changes, if you need features, it’s best to go to the source.

My wifi doesn't connect!
Update: 5GHz fix SHOULD be in all new builds. See Super-Technical Questions for the fix if it gets left out on a build by accident. It's trivial, but involves modifying system files, so it'll be there.

My clock is frozen!
Boot into Recovery > Advanced > Fix Permissions

What is the best way to get the most battery out of this ROM? New!
Leave your phone off. But seriously, that's not a subject for this thread. Post your BetterBatteryStats dumps in the appropriate thread (hint: not here) to see if there are any problematic wakelocks. Every phone is different, so what works for one person might not for you. That being said, MANY people have reported the best battery life with Build 37 + Fluxii XX kernel.

Why doesn't my phone wake up when i get a new text? New!
That's a Gingerbread feature; it's not in ICS. You can use a third party app like SMS popup or NotifierPro (Plus) to do the same thing.

I have a bug that no one else seems to be having!
Read the Official AKOP FAQ on Rootzwiki
Check the known bugs list!
Make sure it’s not a problem with your install. Follow the Troubleshooting Guide above this.
Still happening? Make a post describing what the problem is, and how to REPRODUCE it.

Technical Questions

Backlight Questions

Why don't the backlights work?
They do. Check to make sure:
  1. Settings > Display > Custom backlight settings > Light levels > Check Use custom > Edit other levels… > Copy the values under Screen to Buttons > Save & apply.
  2. Settings > Display > Brightness > Make sure Auto-brightness is enabled
  3. Settings > Device Settings > Sensors > Check Enable keys backlight
  4. Reboot
A graphical guide for the text-challenged (thanks zgr8jakez):

I don't want my buttons to have backlights!
Settings > Device Settings > Sensors > Uncheck Enable keys backlight > Reboot

My backlights are ALWAYS on! Something's not right.
Unfortunately, that's the way it is for now in AOKP. If you don't like it, disable them completetly. Also, leaving them on is NOT a source of major battery drain.

My /sdcard and /emmc are flipped.
If you want to change the storage settings go into: Settings > Storage > Menu > Storage configuration > Select Use Internal Storage (or don't depending on what you want) > Reboot.

What is fast charge?
It's an option to force the phone to draw as much power form a USB output as the AC output. Currently, enabling this does NOTHING (no kernel support)

The weather shows up as a black box.
Tap on it to trigger a weather refresh, It should show up fine after that.

How can I change the boot animation?
If you prefer a simple Android boot animation, go to Settings > ROM Control > General UI > Check Disable boot animation.
If you want a custom boot animation, put bootanimation.zip in /system/media (or /data/local if you want it to be preserved between flashes) > bootanimation.zip

What kernel does this use?
It uses the CM9 kernel compiled by task650.

How do I turn off the camera shutter sound?
Settings > Sound > Uncheck Camera sounds

I can't get Swype to install!
If the Swype Installer always says the screen size is not supported, disable the navigation soft bar, then install it. It should install fine after that.

Super-Technical Questions

Improved Auto-brightness settings
(thanks ktoonsez & codeworxx)
Only tested on the Fluxii XX kernel.
***** Make sure your Exynos Sensor is set to "Open Source" in xxTweaker General section *****
*****WARNING: If you apply the setting before adding ALL the values, you'll have to do a full wipe. *****
To set the minimum value to something lower than 20, set the "Screen Dim Level" to the lowest value that you want. I would not go below 12 though!

Code:
0 12
6 18
9 26

I want a different kernel
Siyah, Neak, and Fluxi XX are available in the Galaxy SII Android Development section.
The stock kernel is in the OP.

My scrolling seems really choppy.
Does it look like this?
Go to Settings > ROM Control > Performance > Scrolling cache > Force disable > Reboot

I hate my hardware buttons, I only want to use a soft navigation bar!
See these directions.

How do I turn off the camera shutter sound?
Permanent solution (if toggle is broken):
  1. Download ES File Explorer. You can use any root file browser, the essentials are the same.
  2. Settings > Enable Root Explorer, Enable up to Root navigation, Mount /system as writable
  3. Go to \system\media\audio\ui
  4. Rename (or delete) camera_click.ogg, camera_focus.ogg, VideoStop.ogg and VideoRecord.ogg

5GHz Wifi Fix
  1. Download ES File Explorer. You can use any root file browser, the essentials are the same.
  2. Settings > Enable Root Explorer, Enable up to Root navigation, & Mount /system as writable
  3. Go to \system\etc\wifi
  4. In nvram_net.txt change ccode=GB --> ccode=US
  5. In nvram_net.txt_murata change ccode=GB --> ccode=US
  6. Reboot

I'm having serious wifi drain.

It's likely that some device on your network is sending out lots of IPv6 brodcasts, keeping the wifi chip awake.
You can disable IPv6, and it should have no adverse effect (save for EXTREMELY RARE network configurations)
  1. Go to ROM control->Startup Tweaks-> enable Startup Tweaks -> sysctl
  2. Use Root Explorer or ADB to edit /system/etc/sysctl.conf
    Add in the following line:
    Code:
    net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
  3. Save/ADB push the modified file.
  4. Reboot
To check if it's working, type in sysctl net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 into Terminal Emulator. You should get a response of "1"

My APN settings are broken/I want faster data! New!

  1. Settings > More... > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
  2. Delete what you have there.
  3. Now go to Menu > New APN and add the following APNs. MAKE SURE YOU GO TO Menu > Save!

  4. Code:
    Name: ATT MMS
    APN: wap.cingular
    Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
    Port: 80
    Username: -
    Password: -
    Server: -
    MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com/
    MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
    MMS Port: 80
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 410
    Authentication Type: -
    APN Type: mms,supl
    APN Protocol: ipv4
    Code:
    Name: ATT PHONE
    APN: phone
    Proxy: -
    Port: -
    Username: -
    Password: -
    Server: -
    MMSC: -
    MMS Proxy: -
    MMS Port: -
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 410
    Authentication Type: -
    APN Type: default,internet
    APN Protocol: ipv4
    (thanks Ghstudent)
  5. Make sure ATT PHONE is set as the default (blue dot next to APN name)
  6. Reboot

Is "Unknown sources" checked in Security? Only thing I can think of...

---------- Post added at 01:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------

I went ahead and collected most of the questions people have had into a nice organized FAQ. Please, read here first, before bothering task about it/making another useless post about it.

I'll be updating this as time goes on, but hopefully this should help first-time flashers.

AKOP FAQ
Long pressing Home doesn’t bring up the Recent Apps! “TASK YOU LIED TO ME!!”
It does work. Go to Settings > ROM Control > Navigation Bar > Long press home action > Change it from Do nothing to Show Recents > Reboot

Why don't the backlights work?

They do. Check to make sure: Settings > Device Settings > Sensors > Check Enable keys backlight > Reboot
Alternative solution: Settings > Display > Custom backlight settings > Light levels > Check Use custom > Edit other levels… > Copy the values under Screen to Buttons > Save & apply > Reboot

I don't want my buttons to have backlights!
Settings > Device Settings > Sensors > Uncheck Enable keys backlight > Reboot

What is fast charge?

It's an option to force the phone to draw as much power form a USB output as the AC output. Currently, enabling this does NOTHING (no kernel support)

Why are there two launchers (Nova and Trebuchet)?
Some people like one over the other. You can use Titanium Backup to uninstall either (or both), if you don’t like them. Make sure you have *some other* launcher before doing this though.

“This ROM is great, but X feature is missing”
Go to the AKOP forum on Rootzwiki and post there. Task650 only compiles and merges changes, if you need features, it’s best to go to the source.

The weather shows up as a black box.
Tap on it to trigger a weather refresh, It should show up fine after that.

My GPS Doesn’t work!

Try This GPS fix (Flash in CWM): http://www.mediafire.com/?u8k995ie4wlg0aq

What happened to my SD card it’s GONE!
No it’s not. It’s located at /mnt/emmc

Why is the bootup animation an angry pink unicorn? WTF!

It’s AKOP. It’s all about the unicorns.
If you want to disable it, go to Settings > ROM Control >General UI > Check Disable boot animation

Does this use Fenny's kernel or the CM9 kernel?

It uses the CM9 kernel, Fenny's hasn't been released yet.

I have a bug that no one else seems to be having!
Check the known bugs list in the OP!
Make sure it’s not a problem with your install. Make a Nandroid backup > Download the latest AKOP build & Gapps > Wipe data/factory reset > Flash ROM > Flash Gapps > Reboot > Check if the problem is gone.
Still happening? Make a post describing what the problem is, and how to REPRODUCE it.
Thanks - it's AOKP, though :D

Add to the FAQ that GPS issues can be fixed by running GPSfix app from market.

I had issues on two phones. Flashing Task's fix didn't help unfortunately, but GPSfix finally gave me a lock and now its ok on both phones (but still a little slow when searching for lock)

BTW, interesting how some of you are getting faster speeds with LC5. I ran SpeakEasy tests before and after flashing from KK6 and still average 4.5mbps down. Must be my area.
